I do love alliteration, in case you hadn't noticed. I find it a fun form of wordplay.  Am posting a bit earlier than planned with additions to demands on my time in the next 24 hours.
A piece of political analysis on the lesser known candidate from The Rolling Stone called, "Why Martin O'Malley Could Be the Future of the Democratic Party"

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/why-martin-omalley-could-be-the-future-of-the-democratic-party-20151106#ixzz3qlWOHWix

Is anyone else thinking of the song "Guitar Man" just now?

Sometimes politics is very personal and political decisions can truly make a difference in the lives of individuals.  One example brought to us by NPR is:

Anyone else feel like a snack just now?

Moving from munch to crunch (as in crunching the numbers)–Mother Jones gives us "Republicans Are Going To Hate This Chart"

And then tell me whether you thought this should've been written by Andy, too:

Do you want a simple answer on how to fix public education?  Just listen to this professional on that (video and article):

Did she leave anything off that list?

Sometimes it is harder to cope with what we meet in life.  I found hope for my current journey from the next one and so I share it with you (and I do love flutterbyes):  caterpillar pictures, butterfly pictures, butterflies picture

Hanky alert (catharsis)–if you can take all the heartwarming, you'll land on some fun kitties to finish:

  1. Rolling Stone:  I knew nothing about OMalley before reading this, thanks!  Shared on Facebook.

NPR:  I agree with her, drug education and counselling would do much more good than prison for most of the people who have been imprisoned for drug use.

I will finish tomorrow, thanks, Judi.

  2. Rolling Stone can, oddly in my mind, be very good at political analysis.  But I did not have the impression that this was political analysis, nor intended to be so.  It seemed more personal.

NPR – And, speaking of personal, everything to do with prison in any way shape or form is personal.  For someone.  Possibly for someone you care about?

MoJo – Ahem.  I can't say it makes me wonder who they are representing.  It does confirm what I already knew, though.

Naylor – Well, no.  This is serious politics as usual.  And a good example of why serious politics as usual is killing us.

Education – I never get tired of Taylor Mali's poem, "What Teachers Make."  Hanky alert if it's new to you.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxsOVK4syxU  I see he now has a book out with the same title (and subtitled "In Praise of the Greatest Job in the World").

  3. Rolling Stone: Great story on Mr. O'Malley. I didn't know anything about him. Sharing also.

NPR: A lot of wasted time and money, imho, for those incarcerated for non violent offenses. Glad for the 6000 others released too.

Our Future: Excellent video, so true, so true! Saving this one.

BelieveOutLoud: Where DID I put my hanky? Beautiful story!!

Random Acts of Kindness: So very, very Sweet. "Now it's my Turn".

Awesome, great post, JL. Thank you very much. πŸ˜‰

  4. I've been having some problems with the PP site, my comments disappearing now and again. I noticed another comment gone, so I hope it won't see it in dupicate next time I'm around:

Rolling Stone: O'Malley seems a bit too late with all: yonger, but still a bit too old, too late starting to have sucess, too far behind to make up for it… Sure, he may be the future of the Democratic Party, but that future doesn't start now.

NPR: It's difficult to see how a release after more than 15 of the 19.7 years Bowerman was convicted to do can be called an early release and it makes me wonder how many of those 6000 early releases were indeed early. It's sounds a bit of, what we would call, a wax nose to me. Bowerman could have been released after seven years when she had become clean and saw the error of her ways, with little or no assistance of the prison regime, it seems. With a good rehabilitation program she could have been out in months and back into society doing some good while still in her prime. Now she has to unlearn 15 years of living in prison and re-learn to be free first. What a waste.

Mother Jones: So seen through democratic goggles, the people of only 3 of the 26 are in league with their state governments suing the EPA to stop their climate action plan. "Makes you wonder whose interests all these governors, attorneys general, and legislators are really representing." ?? No it doesn't and it hasn't for a long time: they are only representing the interests of Big Coal and their own, i.e. the money they get paid for doing this. And they won't hate to see this chart, because they'll just ignore it. And unless the people of the 23 states wake up, they'll get away with ignoring it AND their constituents.

Medium: This certainly is no joke, it should have been the highway a long time ago.

our_future: A must-see teacher's video indeed, fantastic speech, really said it all. "We might be well to listen to those who teach our children, not ignore them" so very true and the only place to start the education revolution.

Believeoutloud: Thanks for sharing with us that which has brought you hope, Judi.

Heartwarming video: Often the sharing or giving is better than the receiving, it's at it's best when both are equal.

  5. Very good humor and spot-on!!
