OK, so we’re jumping the gun by a day – but I want to give a YUUUGGGEEE H/T to Joanne, Judi and Lynn who came up with the idea of a Halloween themed “Friday Fun”.  They shared tons of pictures to inspire me, some of which you’ll enjoy below.  Thanks!

To set the proper Halloween mood, you’d naturally expect to start out with something like a spooky old house, and throw in some lightning …

But how’s this for something truly scary?

Bush-Spooky_Halloween-Skeleton

(Didn't really even need the skeletal animation to be scary, did it?)

Now that we got you in the proper frightened frame of focus, we’ll begin with some Halloween puns – because what better way to get the GROANS going than a pun?

What’s a haunted chicken?

 A poultry-geist

How did the Great Pumpkin fix the hole in his pants?

 With a pumpkin patch

What does a ghost eat for lunch?

 A BOO-logna sandwich

What do you get when you drop a pumpkin?

 Squash

Why wasn’t there any food left after the monster party?

 Because everyone was a goblin!

What kind of monster is safe to put in the washing machine?

 A wash-and-wear wolf

What kind of protozoa likes Halloween?

 An amoeboo

And my favorite …

What do you get when you divide the diameter of a jack-o-lantern by its circumference?

 Pumpkin Pi

Get it?  Pie … pi …

*sigh*  Geez … Do I have to draw a picture for you guys?

Now let’s enjoy some costumed cats …

Well, of course dogs can be cute in Halloween costumes, too.  (Just not AS cute as cats)

(These dogs must be from Minnesota or Wisconsin – given that it’s apparently snowing.)

If you want to see how the super-rich “One Percenters” of New York decorate their manses for the holiday …

Halloween_New-York-Rich

“The New York Times” put together a slideshow of some of the better ones – from the most expensive zip codes in the city.  (Don't know if slideshows embed – so just click the URL)

To put a smile on your face, I think you’ll be “sucked up” by this “dirty” parody of “The Exorcist”.  (It’s a minute and a half long, but I certainly didn’t see the punchline coming – and well worth it!  Give it a click …)

So when you get ready for some Trick or Treaters

Halloween_Rat_Trick-Treat

And whether you dress your kids up cute …

Halloween_Cat-Costumed-Baby

(Ahhhhh ….)

Or dress your critters up scary …

Take extra care of yourselves, be safe and do NOT party too much or you might just not be able to navigate properly …

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  1. Great fun, Nameless, but the dawgs are Republicans.  They're dressed as KKK.

  2. Loved everything except the photo of Dubya.

  3. Posted to Care2 at http://www.care2.com/news/member/101612212/3923190

    Actual comments will follow.

    • Hey, I'd live in that house!

How did they get a photo of W's real self?  He tries so hard to keep it hidden!

Now if you only had two more – I could have said you used ten puns to attempt to get out attention – but no pun in ten did.  (Just kidding – I loved all eight.)

Alas, though I also love all the costumes, they are also justifications for "Why pets attack their owners."  TC is right on on the dawgs.  Dem dogs do exist, though.

I'll bet the 1% never had a real live corpse, though.  I did one year – not intentionally – I lived in a four-plex and a neighbor OD'd – not intentionally – she had lost a lot of weight and hadn't had her dosages readjusted – A passerby let me know and we called 911 – she lived, thank God.

Exorcist – short enough even for me – and absolutely priceless!

      Rats – it's Hallowe'en!

      Overall – cute, cute, cute!

      • "Rats – it's Hallowe'en!"

        Everyone makes that mistake.

Actually it's a 3 y/o kid dressed up in a really great costume.

(Hell, 3 y/o's are hard enough to train.  You think anyone could get a RAT to do that? 😉 )

  4. That rat was really cute, I admit I am a little afraid of them, though.  If I tried to dress any of my cats for Halloween, I would be in the ER for treatment.

    Loved the Dirt Devil commercial.

I love puns, as do several of my friends, had to share these on Facebook.  Thanks, Nameless.

  5. It's a nice sunny Saturday afternoon while I'm reading this, Nameless, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it nevertheless. We don't have much of a Halloween tradition in Holland, but it's getting more popular, but only in the sense of more dress-up parties, not trick-or-treat, that is done in some regions on November 11, Saint Martin, when children go from door to door with a paper lanterns burning, and being rewarded some candy for singing a Saint Martin song. Nothing scary about that.

I loved the Dirt Devil commercial and the puns and… in fact I loved it all. Thanks again.

  6. Oh, how cool.!!!

Loved the Princess Leia costume, though the cat did not look happy.

The Dirt Devil commercial was funny, though I didn't see that coming either.

You all deserve kudos for getting this together, it's great!!!

    Happy Halloween who celebrate! Thanks!

  7. Really a well put together collection of Halloween pics, videos and sayings. Some of the puns really made me groan. lol. The Red Devil video was clever. A well trained rat was cute. As for shrub, a better video would be of him being thrown into a cell behind bars.

Thanks to Nameless for your Halloween contribution. It is awesome! Thanks to Joanne, Judi and Lynn for the Halloween themed “Friday Fun”.

  8. Thanks Nameless–a neat mix of fun even though I was otherwise occupied for the day and eve itself.
