0807CCdebate

Before I begin, I want you to know that I made a supreme sacrifice.  I had purchased  a dozen PIGnocchio brand, big mouth, extra-wide, extra-chunky barf bags for the occasion, and they were insufficient to the task.  I knew these Republicans were vile, but who would have thought that they could motivate me to produce barf in excess of my own body weight.  Only the debate itself was a bigger mess.  Humor aside, I did watch the spectacle, took notes, and have a report for you.

There were actually two debates.  To be truthful, I overslept and missed a few minutes of the bottom group, but it became immediately apparent to me that the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, was intentionally trying to crucify this group, based on camera angles, audio and video quality, and insults from the moderators.  I’m not the only one who thought so.  Rachel Maddow did too.

In the main debate there were no winners.  Here are my notes:

Donald “Hairball” Trump:
He refused to promise to support the Republican nominee and not to run as a third party candidature.   On immigration, he proposed a wall and said border patrol officers were his proof that the Mexican government is sending criminals here.  He would repeal and replace the ACA with insurance company deregulation.  He said he is pro life and would defund Planned Parenthood.  He admitted to misogynist tweets.  He called Obama incompetent.  He said the Iran deal is a disgrace.

Jeb “Strike Three” Bush:
On undocumented immigrants, he supported a path to legal status, but not citizenship.  He stated that ISIS [his brother’s creation], would not exist if Obama had not abandoned Iraq [on his brother’s timetable].  He favored state control of education and vouchers.  He promised 4% growth by getting rid of Obamacare and cutting taxes.  He supported defunding Planned Parenthood.  He denied calling Hairball a buffoon.

Scott “Fartfuhrer” Walker:
He demanded banning abortion with no exception to save the life of the mother.  He supported no amnesty of any kind for undocumented immigrants.  Hew promised to attack ISIS.  He said failed to meet his economic promised because had aimed high.  He would introduce tougher sanctions against Iran and have our international partners do the same.  On racial disparity, he would provide better training to law enforcement on the use of force.

Marco “Deport Them All” Rubio:
He supported a wall to keep undocumented immigrants out and no amnesty of any kind.  He supports state control of education.  He would help small businesses by lowering taxes, repealing Obamacare, and repealing Dodd Frank.  He supports “personhood”.

Mike “Upchuck Huck” Huckabee:
He supported “personhood”.  He supported state control of education.  He would save social security and the economy with the FAIR Tax.  He would cancel the Iran agreement.  He would not allow transgender people in the military.

Ben “Uncle Token” Carson:
He said we should keep harsh interrogation methods [torture] secret.  He suggested a tithe tax.  He said Hillary counts on useful idiots.

Rand “Idiot, Son of Idiot, Named after Idiot” Paul:
He attacked Hairball.  He said NSA should spy on terrorists only.  He supports allowing discrimination against gay people.  He said he would cut foreign aid.

Ted “Uranus Inspector” Cruz:
He said he would repeal all of Obama’s executive orders, defund sanctuary cities and allow no amnesty if any kind for undocumented immigrants.  He would destroy ISIS by calling it “Radical Islamic Terrorism”.  He would stand-up against Russia and China for committing cyber war.

Chris “PIGnocchio” Christie:
He supports no amnesty of any kind for undocumented immigrants.  He supports NSA spying al all Americans.  He would raise the retirement age.  He would restore the military to cold war levels.

John “KKK” Kasich:
He supports the wall to keep undocumented immigrants out.  He would defeat Hillary by promising to balance the budget.  He opposed same sex marriage, but he accepts the courts ruling and would love his own gay child.

All promised obeisance to Republican Supply-Side Jesus (the opposite of the real Jesus).

On the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, it was not even mentioned.

0807MegynKellyIn my opinion, there was no winner.  However the debate may have a serious impact on the rest of the campaign season.  Faux Noise employs a bunch of blondes, who usually display lots of leg and cleavage to keep Bubba Bagger titillated just enough to keep his TV tuned to Faux Noise.  Without the blondes  Bubba would surely turn to NASCAR, Better Outhouses and Gardens, or Ga Ga for Guns.  Well, one of the Faux Noise blondes, Megyn Kelly, attacked Hairball over his misogynist tweets, and he responded by threatening her.  OOPS!  I have seen this woman in action enough times to know that she has a vicious streak a mile wide, so I would be very surprised if Hairball does not occupy the top of her feces list for a long time.  Now if the rest of Faux Noise goes along with her and tries to sabotage Hairball, he could be in trouble, as a Republican.

In conclusion, the very best thing about the Criminal Clowns Debate is this.  It’s over.

  1. I would strongly disagree that there were no winners.  Bernie and Hillary were both clear Winners!

As much as I could tell from the liveblogging posts at DailyKos, their debate performances were so dreadful that even train wrecks were slowing down to watch.  Someone commented he should have volunteered for the Suicide Watch Hotline last night, because there was a good chance that RNC Chair Reince Priebus would call in.

Giving credit where credit is due, it seems like the questions were actually pretty solid.  But NO mention of climate change or income inequality.

  2. I couldn't see anything of the debate over here, although the national news covered it extensively, so thank you for the torture you put yourself through, TomCat and reporting the main points of what every candidate put forward.

The analysis here was that Trump ruled the show, literally, not as a politician but as a showman, which was also the reason the debate drew so many viewers, over 24 million, which is more than the number of people living in Oz. Analysts thought that most people tuned in for the entertainment, not the politics, but irrespective of the motivation to watch, the GOP has gotten itself an enormous amount of attention and so early in the race too. And as long as Trump will be their front runner this attention will only benefit them, any attention being good attention.

Most analysts agreed that Trump wasn't the best debater, but certainly the best showman, drawing most of the attention to himself, but probably turning most Republican women away with his misogyny. They thought Jeb was moderate and mild to Trump, but too indecisive and fumbling for words too often to impress, but they agreed that Walker and Rubio and even Kasich made a rather solid impression. Walker giving a solid enough performance on a radical right, Nazi agenda, now that is scary. Really scary.

Most everyone said it was a lot of show and not as bad as they had expected – Aussies don't think too much of American Republicans either, it seems – but with 24 million viewers who seemed to have tuned in mainly to be entertained and not to listen too hard to what the candidates really have to say, I think that is exactly going to be the problem of this election. The average American isn't even remotely interested in politics, but only in being entertained. In the past Americans have shown themselves not to be above choosing a president mainly on his stage presence and acting talent, and this debate shows that many are happy to continue that trend. Which will make it very difficult indeed for Democrats like Hillary and Bernie, who depend heavily on the strong content of their agenda, but have little or no entertainment value, to get their message heard above the hysterical laughter induced by the clowns. It is very early in the race, but the Democrats will have to step up to get themselves heard above all the "free" publicity that Faux News has given the GOP and itself with this debate.

  3. I found Huck's belief he could override SCOTUS on abortion noteworthy. And I was surprised to find Kasich seeming like a reasonable candidate when compared to the others.  Still glad I didn't watch.

  4. Can we say "idiots all"?  To pick the least objectionable of this group would take months of deliberation…

  5. The best news was that Trump declined to promise to support the Republican candidate if it wasn't him, and he declined to rule out a third party run.  Taken with that, the insult to Megyn Kelly was just the cherry on the sundae.  Megyn Kelly gives a good imitation of a bimbo most of the time, but she has been known to slip and say something intelligent.  Here's to Megyn v. Trump, and may it be fought in the media arena, and not in the courts.

  6. I Watched both debates (with help of the "DVR") I found the frist debate more like a debate.   And I would love to see Carly Fiorina be the GOP nominee.(If Clinton gets the nominee it would be a great one.  But just like in 2008 they thought they could retain the power by being foolish.  And it looks like 2016 is going to be no different. As the second debate was more of a one liner circus tent.  Asking Donald Trump foolish questions.  Just goes to show how 2016 will be ours to take or lose.  The ball is in our court.  Jeb Bush is trying to be more like is father  not his brother( he thinks that is a winner)  Scott Walker is out the way he did his hands (A Nixon I will not tell a lie)  Rubio acting like Clinton has expired. Huckabee thinks talking about baby parts is something new and he has the best reason to disrespect women.  Carson acts like he could be puppy if someone would give him a bone. Rand Paul will never be.  Cruz King Tea Party  acting like he is honest(what a joke).  Christie think is a baby Trump and the country would just love his honesty" lies" ( I can not believe he is so full of himself.)  Kasich (who does he thinks he is fooling?)  But that is FOX NEWS how could we expect anything more?

    • Cartoon: if they take over, the shorts would not be permitted

I hope he succeeds in getting similar attention when he sees an issue like the 9/11 2st responders without the show.

I'm glad Warren isn't afraid to call it what it is and to fight to protect what progress we've made and to push for more.

That foursome seems to need money to grease their jaws to be able to mumble a sentence, even one lacking coherance.

Our chance of rain roday (15%) vanished before it was predicted to come…sigh

      • oops==didn't click hard enough for new copy so old clipboard one reposted–sorry…here's what was intended:

Ah-but Carly destroyed HP and her campaign is funded with the money they paid her to leave…a problem that led to thousands upon thousands of people losing their jobs, too…and plenty of harassment whispers and settled cases from those days, too–she should be easy for a corpse to beat Mamabear.

        • The company for which I worked did HP's research.  I watched her gut quality control there.  She really did ruin the coimpany and would do the same for the country.

          • She was a poor shadow of Meg Whitman, who at least knew enough to seek political mentorship…even if it was Romney

  7. TC, thank you for your sacrifice.  I did not watch either debate.  I ran out of barf bags a few weeks ago.

Rachel Maddow:  I think she is right, none of these candidates did themselves any favor by agreeing to be on the kiddie's table debate and it was cruel of Fox and the RNC to do this.  I am not fond of any of these candidates, but they still were disrespected by their party.

As for the other debate:  Trump>>> hairball is a good nickname for him.  My cats spit those out, I hope that is what happens with the voters, they spit him out.  He reminds me of the little rich kid on the playground who bullies everyone who won't play with him.

JebBush:  Strike Three is a good nickname, but Foot in Mouth also applies.  He is trying to convince us that he is the "smart" Bush.

I tried but commenting on the rest is making my blood pressure rise.  If any of this bunch get elected, I truly am moving to Canada with Lynn.

Trump better watch out for Megayn.  She is mean.

  8. lol JL A But as nasty and corporate and clueless and dishonest and would love to take down PPH. Would be a
great opportunity for Clinton to be able to show just what she can and will do for all Americans. With out the condescending remarks of the clowns who think a women place is in the kitchen.

  9. I did not watch the Republicanus/Teabaggerum debates as Canada's four leaders were having the only English language debate of the election campaign.

Before Rachel mentioned the lack of audience at the kiddie's table, I noticed the lack of audience once and thought I had not seen properly.  Oops!  Personally, if I were part of the 1st debate, I'd be pissed with Faux.  I'd also be pissed with the RNC for "allowing" Faux to make all the rules.

I must say I wasn't expecting much from this bunch . . . the big boy's table.  They are all narcissists, liars, bullies and idiots.  If the US actually elects one of these Republicanus/Teabaggerum clowns, you guys are screwed big time.

  10. Thanks all.  I'm still finding stray chunks of barf everywhere. angry
