Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: So I was minding my own business last night watching TV when I saw this amazing commercial for Tylenol. I paused the TV and yelled for my husband to come into the room and I rewound and showed it to him. We were both blown away.

Kudos to Tylenol. Somehow I think Republicans will be experiencing a lot more pain, as they refuse to take it to express their hatred of black-white and LGBT marriages.

From Alternet: On last night’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart ran a montage of conservative commentators and Fox hosts berating liberals for bringing up race and gun reform after the shootings in Charleston, S.C.

Barf Bag Alert!!

Jon did a great job of exposing Republican support for all things racist.

From MSNBC: Rachel Maddow reviews the history of white segregationist Citizens’ Councils in the American South and transformation into the Council of Conservative Citizens, a recurring embarrassment for GOP politicians and cited influence of the Charleston shooter.

Just as the White Citizens Councils morphed into the Conservative Citizens Council to hide from their violent past, the latter will escape the consequences they face now by morphing into another equally hateful, equally racist, and equally violent organization. And Republicans will flock to support that group, until it gets tied to another tragic hate crime. Then Republicans will claim they did not know. How many must die, before America realizes that the Republican Party knowingly supports white supremacist policies, hatred, and violence?

  1. Daily Kos: Great commercial and a bit surprised as well. Guess the pukes will need to take some 'Tylenol' to ease their pain. lol.

Alternet: Another great expose by Jon Stewart. The commentators and faux noise sure know how to lower themselves into the black abyss of the outhouse cesspool without even trying. For those of you who cannot access the show via links provided, try this LINK:

Rachel Maddow Show: Rachel gave an excellent account of this very important story. Racist Group Lurks Behind Thin Political Veil. So glad that Barbour was never in the running for the nomination of POTUS. LINK:

Cartoon: Yep, The GOP/TP/Koch Party continue to commit TEAbuggery. What else is new… lol.

And, Yes, the 'THREAT' is real! LOL!

  2. 4:23  Looks like they need to protect the horse's knees too.

  3. 4:53 average 5:42.  Gee, you must indeed be coming down with something if I beat you.

DKos – Saw the article and the commercial.  Now if they could only make it easier on the liver – and work better by itself.  Excedrin Extra Strength includes some, but I don't know whether they get paid for that.  I doubt it, alas.

Alternet – In order to be a tragedy, a story must have a hero with a tragic flaw.  I see a flaw in Charleston all right, but I sure don't see a hero.  If they don't know what they are talking about they should shut up.

Somewhat off topic but not totally, black people in the US, and specifically black Christians, put me to shame.  They put me to shame because I know how to Christian, but I don't do it as well as they do.  What must be the reaction of white Republican supply-side pseudo-Christians?  They can't be put to shame because they have no shame.  They don't have the faintest idea how to Christian, they just think they are holy.  Holier than anyone.  Yet here they are, having their a$$es handed to them.  By people they hate.  How does one even imagine the depths of resentment and vendetta that must raise in them?  It must be like being a Pharisee during Jesus' lifetime.  Well, we all know how that ended.

If anyone can come up with a way to reach these people, short of knocking them off their a$$ and blinding them on the road to Damascus (a good plan, but not feasible), I would love to hear it.

MSNBC – The white supremacists are only an embarrassment to the Republicans when we bring it up.  The rest of the time they are the Republican base.  And I mean the base.  I do not believe there is a Republican in America who does not know the Republican Party stands for white racism.  I do not believe there is a Republican in America who does not support this platform.  I know there are Republicans in America who are black and brown.  I think they believe they are exceptions who will be respected by whites in spite of the racism.  They are wrong.  They will be tolerated as long as political points can be scored off of them, and then they will be thrown under the bus.  Or maybe under Nazi tanks.

Cartoon – If they were that small you would have a better chance of stopping them single-pawed.  Would that they were.

  4. Great job, Jon! I love Jon Stewart, anyway. He has a short time to go before he is gone. I don’t know what I will do without my Daily dose of Daily Show!

  5. Daily Kos:  I haven't seen that commercial on tv yet, but  love it.  Family is who you love, period.  I hope Tylenol doesn't get as much grief as Cheerios did over their bi racial family.

Alternet:  I loved "foxabetes".  Devotion to Faux news has to be a disease, why else would people keep watching it.  Jon always scores, he did it really well this time.

Rachel MAddow:  None of the politicians who gave back or donated the money they received  to from the Conservative Citizens Council would have done so if they could have kept it secretly.  The Republican party today is racist and owned by corporations.  They are a far cry from the party of Ike.

Cartoon:  That is exactly what the Tea Party and Republican party stand for today.

  6. TY TC – still v poorly, sorry.

  7. Puzzle — 3:28  Betty Grable legs . . . of the horsie set!  No horsie fricassée for you Puddy Tat!

Daily Kos — "Family isn't defined by who you are but how."  Excellent!  The jaded part of me wonders if there will be a change to Tylenol sales as a resut of this ad.

Alternet — "… Jon Stewart ran a montage of conservative commentators and Fox hosts berating liberals for bringing up race and gun reform after the shootings in Charleston, S.C." Somebody has to do it!  Isn't it amazing that the talking heads at Faux are doing exactly that of which they accuse liberals? . . . maybe not amazing because they do it all the time.  Projection, projection, projection, thy name is Republicanus/Teabaggerum and the Reich Ministry of Propaganda.  Jon did a great job and will be sorely missed when he leaves the air.

MSNBC — The Republicanus/Teabaggerum can claim all they want that they didn't know the Conservative Citizens Council was and is a hateful, racist and violent organisation.  But that does not make it true.  As Mahatma Gandhi said

“An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self sustained.”

Every country experiences some form of racism, but I am not aware of any country that experiences the same level of racism that is evident in the US.

    Cartoon — Amen!

  8. Did you get soaked on your way to a bit of sun basking or are yoyoing temperatures getting to you, TomCat? Anyway, summer colds are long lasting and nasty to start taking care of yourself right now before it gets a foothold in your system.

Daily Kos: Very nice ad, but I'll never go as far as to praise a company for having a PR department that is smart enough to appeal to what people really want to hear. They figured this would give them an edge on their competitors, went for it and it works. But I'm not buying into the "Because we're a family brand, because we're an iconic American brand, and we want to continue to serve families into the future, I think it's important that we reflect what that family is today." Replace "serve" with "make money out of them" and you're a lot closer to their motives.

Alternet: It won't be too hard for Jon Stewart's successor to pick up on Foxabetis, because if anything Faux News is predictable and consistent that way, but I doubt he'll do it as well as Jon who has turned it into an art. We'll miss you, Jon.

MSNBC: You can leave it up to Rachel to do the research and show a lot of Republicans for what they are: racist. But while you can see the anger building up in her, she doesn't yet go for a full attack. She does questions why for decades it was known what the White Citizens Council/Council of Conservative Citizens was all about yet nobody was troubled by the liaisons with Republican politicians,, but she gives these politicians respite because she feels they appear at a turning point now and distance themselves from the CCC. Well, they say they didn't know who they were and send back their money… I agree with you, TomCat, those that were in bed with the WCC or CCC will be so with their next alias, because that group reflects exactly how they think. You can take a Republican politician out of a racist group, but you can't take the racist out of a Republican politician.

    Cartoon: Go get them, pussycat.

  9. Thanks all.  Hugs.  Sick.  That cartoon, is a kitty wet dream.
