  1. Sounding a tiny bit perkier, TC – just don't overdo tomorrow.

  2. 4:44 average unchanged.  If you're getting groceries, be sure they are SHORT articles.

Cartoon – Was he a Grand Army of the Republic member?  He looks like he might have been.

You may remember after the election our good friend Jim Phillips cited Gordon Klingenschmitt as a new Congressman we would likely hear (idiocy) from again.  Though pointing out he is a Representative to the Colorado State House and not actually a Congressman, I agreed he is absolutely a clown for the clown car.  Well, guess what:

    http://forcechange.com/140800/condemn-lawmaker-for-calling-brutal-assault-an-act-of-god/

    • That is horrendous and too typical of many Republicanus/Teabaggerum.  Gordon Klingenschmitt should be charged with impersonation with criminal intent  . . . impersonating a human being and a Christian, and trying to eliminate the separation of church and state.

    • Petition signed.

Gordon Klingenschmitt is the newest member of the clown car.

We all will hear from him again. Wonder what Gordon will come up with next. lol.

    • I signed the petition and shared it on Facebook. What a cruel, heartless MORON!  Or am I insulting morons?

    • AARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!  – I cannot believe what I just read at that petition!  What an evil psychotic that 'man' is!  He has patently missed out all of the New Testament in his 'reading' of the Bible – and has missed out the bits where it says good things like 'judge not, lest ye be judged' – only a pervertedly evil 'man' could say those things.

    • Signed. He is a oor excuse for a human being. I expect to hear a lot more drivel spewing from his maw.

    • Signed.  Positively horrid!

    • Well, at least he has been removed from his committee assignment.  From an email:

Intense condemnation of Klingenschmitt has come at him from all quarters. So much so that Minority Leader Brian DelGrosso (R-Loveland) felt compelled to discipline Klingenschmitt. The minority leader relieved him of his seat on the House Health, Insurance and Environment Committee. This is appropriate and I commend Rep. DelGrosso for doing so but incredibly, there is a member of the Republican house caucus who disagrees:

State Rep. Justin Everett (R-Littleton) got up on the floor of the house and said Klingenschmitt should not have been relieved of his committee assignment. Everett said it was Klingenschmitt’s free speech right to say what he said. Representative Everett, 43 years old, owns and operates small mediation/arbitration business. He is better known to readers of this space as a favorite of the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners association. Everett earned himself a Republican primary last year because of his high rate of absenteeism at the State Capitol. As a result of his absences, his leadership temporarily relieved him of a couple of his committee assignments until he could get his head together and show up for work on time regularly. Everett has nicknamed himself “Representative Neverett” because of the high percentage of “no” votes he casts on legislation (which is true). As a result, I am compelled to nominate Rep. Everett as the second most extreme member of the Colorado House.

  3. Puzzle — 2:43  TC, I think your solving time is indicative that you're feeling a lot better.  Good thing there is no birdie to eat!

Cartoon — On Thomas Mundy Peterson from Wikipedia:

"He was a school custodian and general handyman in Perth Amboy. Active in the Republican Party, he became the city's first African-American to hold elected office, on the Middlesex County Commission. He was also the city's first "colored" person to serve on a jury."

JD, I agree "Was he a Grand Army of the Republic member?  He looks like he might have been."

"The G.A.R. promoted voting rights for then called "Negro"/"Colored" black veterans, as many white veterans recognized their demonstrated patriotism and sacrifices, providing one of the first racially integrated social/fraternal organizations in America."

  4. I haven’t had much luck with the puzzles. It takes me 20 minutes to get one of those together!
Sounds like you are comin along! So glad to hear that! Take care and see ya later!

  5. They say good things come in small packages and that is actually harder to write with brevity than more verbosely.

  6. This NY Bill Could Effectively Make You a Felon If You're Arrested During a Protest
A subtle change in New York State law could stop #BlackLivesMatter in its tracks.

    http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/ny-bill-could-effectively-make-you-felon-if-youre-arrested-during-protest

"Welcome to the Policed USA. Police have plenty of legal protections, in addition political power and social respectability. They also serve as instruments of enforcement of both the power of the Top 1% and the white-racist social caste system. Don't think so? In the Ferguson, MO incident, I didn't see any black people wearing "I am Darren Wilson" t-shirts, but, I digress."

"A law like this on the books would be more legal shielding for the police; they could call another Eric Garner chokehold incident "resisting arrest", thus, no charges filed after a minimal, if any, investigation. It would also be another weapon against a marginalized or disliked group, like minorities or protestors. As noted in the article, during protests, police often feel they have to make an arrest to make a statement. If resisting arrest becomes a felony instead of the misdemeanor it is now, it becomes a great way to stifle protest."

"Maybe we should call them what they are: selective law enforcement."

    http://democratsforprogress.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=28694

While the Bill may be a good thing for the NYPD, it would not be good for the people of color or any group of protesters, They may lose their right to vote as they
are now and have been labeled as "felons".

    • Well – what would Martin do?  I mean if such a bill passed after the protests there are likely to be up front.  Anything we can sign?

    • What may be good for the NYPD is  not necessarily good for the citizens of NYC.  It appears to me that they are a militarized police force who view all persons of color as threats to them.  Protesters, too.

  7. I googled and was able to find 3 petitions on this issue. Here they are:

    Petition: ForceChange: http://forcechange.com/139456/dont-classify-resisting-arrest-as-a-felony/

    WatchDog Petition:

NYPD Commissioner thinks you should go to prison for resisting arrest.

    Change.org Petition:

  8. TC, make the very short articles, don't over work yourself.

  9. Make haste slowly TC – get properly better.

(Am still trying to recover from the Klingenschmidt shock – truly it has made me feel really ill).

  10. Thanks all.  Hugs.  Here we go!
