Iβve continued to improve slowly, and that translates to spending the time Iβm not eating or imitating the bathroom habits of a race horse horizontal. I think I be able to start writing again within a few days.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Todayβs took me 1:56 (average 4:18). To di it, click here. How did you do?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
3:38 Congrats, TomCat. I think this is the first time I have seen anyone finish one of these puzzles in under 2 minutes. Rarely does anyone get under 3 minutes.
3:14 TC smelled a bird and it was all over but the meowing.
2:42 Sorry birdie, couldn't stop that Puddy Tat from coming after you! TC, don't chase that birdie so hard that you have a relapse!

Sad that Issa and others have chosen Joe as the example they prefer to follow.
Joe McCarthy & Ted Cruz … Separated at Birth:

Uncanny! I wonder what old Joe would think of Cruz with a Cuban father?
Not to mention that Ted Cruz' father fought along side Fidel Castro!
Kinda makes me shiver!
3:53 average unchanged. Beautiful bird. I see you are racing extra hard for lunch. That's a good sign.
Cartoon: Truman was far from perfect, but he certainly called this correctly. McCarthy continued to serve until his death in 1957, but blacklisting and the HUAC continued. It's amazing what you can get used to – and this should be a horrible warning for us. I was in high school between 1960 and 1962, and I remember writing a script for a Latin Club event which contained a reference to "the un-Roman Activities Committee." As if it always had been and always would be. Not a good way to live. But I knew no other.
Cartoon ~ They keep trying to bring back the Witch Hunts.
I was alive when McCarthy was in office, but was ignorant of his dubious activities. Only because I was about 3-4 years old when the era began! LOL!
Puzzles were never my strong suit. 18:18! Isn’t that pitiful? That’s the first one of those puzzles I have ever tried!
Well, 1818 was a GREAT year:
Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" was published and
Franz Gruber's "Silent Night" was composed
(I think that covers the Yin and Yang, Warp and Woof, for 1818)

Vivian, you tried and there is nothing pitiful about that! It will only be pitiful IF you don't keep trying!
As they do say 'practice makes perfect' – and apparently having a mouse improves one's time immensely (I still haven't got one – there are always more important things that I need to buy). Also, you can choose the type of shapes you want the puzzle's picture to go into – we all have our favourites, I like the birds, someone else likes the bulbs (I'm not advanced enough to do that one – it takes me forever) – just hover your cursor over the LHS of the screen and click on 'change cut' if you want to experiment!
BTW – I would say that completing your first puzzle in 18 minutes shows grit and determination Vivian – you will not be beaten – well done!
Give it time. π

Cartoon — Joe McCarthy certainly left his mark on American history. And as I recall, JFK Jr knew him as a family friend. RFK Jr attended his funeral according to Wikipedia. From Wikipedia:
I hope you are better soon!
Cartoon: They would bring him back if they could!
Glad to hear you're doing better – you sound better, too.
But what's a "race horse horizontal"? I Googled it, but learned nothing.
I'm assuming it refers to your taking a diuretic of some type – probably Lasix since it's quick acting. But that's just a guess.
Interesting trivia nugget WRT Lasix. It got its name because its diuretic effects LAst SIX hours –> LASIX.
That was sipposed to be earing, imitating the bathroom habits od a race horse (due to water consumption), or horizontal.
I'm still confused. Oh, well …
From the rest of Nameless' reply, I suspect he understood very well. He was just funnin' you. My hubby has a similar sense of humor and I thought I recognized the mindset. Nameless, on that etymology – surely you're not serious?
Well, I AM being serious. That's how it got its name:

Maalox comes from its ingredients:MAgnesium ALuminum hydrOXide
'Make haste slowly TC' – you know all my grandmother's sayings really are starting to make sense now!
Cartoon – yes, they would bring that back if they could. McCarthyism sends shivers down my back.
Sigh – that should have been (well, of course!) 'Make haste slowly' TC….. – we had tremendous gales last night and things clattering and banging up and down the road and frightening my rescues, I hardly slept – and the same today….
Strange, I did not find this in my Care2 Inbox, it was in the E. Mail box and did not find until today. Good to know you are feeling a bit better. Miss your articles. As I have said before, yours are the best, Tom. Will be away for a couple of days. Visiting my niece in Chimacum, WA. You may have heard of it, but probably not. I cannot even find it on the map, spell or pronounce it. These Indian names, you know.
Thanks all. Hugs. Isn't it horrible that so many Republicans today would jump to fill McCarthy's role.
I think nearly every one of them would – which is very, very scary!
