It’s day 84. I’m writing and waiting for Store to door to deliver groceries, which I will then put away. I’m feeling pretty tired, because my body is trying to revert to the old schedule, but I knew this would take time.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:34 (average 6:51). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Huffington Post: Punk rock band Dropkick Murphys is not happy with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R).
In fact, the band tweeted its members "literally hate" Walker, who used the band’s song "I’m Shipping Up to Boston" as intro music ahead of his speech at Saturday’s Iowa Freedom Summit.
Until I saw this, I had never heard of Dropkick Murphys. I became an instant fan, even though Punk Rock does nothing for me. Dropkick the Fartfuhrer of Fitzwalkerstan!
From YouTube: State rep threatens to reveal peers’ affairs / LGBT, Equality, Alabama
I would love to see her do it. Republican Family Values means only that Republicans love to intrude into YOUR family’s values.
From Think Progress: At least professionally, the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office has already paid for filing murder charges against two cops who shot and killed a homeless man in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Just a day after DA Kari Brandenburg announced for the first time in recent memory that she would pursue criminal charges against cops for an on-duty deadly shooting, there was another police shooting in the city, which has seen a spate of fatal police shootings since 2010 at eight times the rate of New York City.
And when a prosecutor from Brandenburg’s office went to the scene and sought to attend an investigative briefing, as prosecutors had been doing for years as part of their collection of evidence, police wouldn’t let her in. They claimed that now that the DA’s office had filed criminal charges against a cop, they had a “conflict of interest” and should be excluded.
This is clearly abuse of police power and the officers responsible should be severely punished.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Given that they has objected to his crony's illegal use of their music last election, no one should be surprised they objected again–and it is fortuitous for him that the objection didn't coincide with legal action.
I hope she gets people in Alabama thinking at least of what family values used to actually mean.
So the police claim they have a conflict of interest preventing them from doing their whole job? Seems there should be legal action the DA can take against those involved at the scene to remind them of what they actually swore to do.
Sigh…your cartoon has the song "Henry the Eighth" stuck in my head now.
6:08 average up to 7:00. All black and white, nothing to eat here folks, just move along.
HuffPo – I just hope they fare better than the Dixie Chicks. They appear to have picked up a lot of new fans from Daily Kos too, though.
YouTube – Oh, good golly, yes, go for it! Just keep it true!
Think Progress – Well, she's in good company, with Bill deBlasio, among others. This is just really stupid. They really need to be slapped down.
Oh, yes, didn't he. Especially after his head injury at the Field of the Cloth of Gold. Did wonders for his social skills (NOT!)
Divorce rate 4th in the Country. I hope she reveals the affairs of public officials. 😆
WRT your Anniversary Cartoon, today also marks the sad 29th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger tragedy (RIP).
It's one of those "Where Were You When … " moments that are indelibly etched in our hearts and minds, and only increase as we grow older.
In that regard, while revisiting this tragic anniversary, I did come across an interesting Interactive selection bracketing of quite a number of those "Where Were You When …" moments. I found it quite interesting, although in all honesty, I thought quite a number of their pairings were a bit strange.

Huffington Post:
Punk rock band Dropkick Murphys should go ahead and sue Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), aka Fartfuhrer of Fitzwalkerstan for megabucks. Maybe a restraining order would do the trick and/or a cease-and-desist letter.

YouTube:
State Rep. Patricia Todd (D) Alabama. Yep, someone needs to a do-over the GOP people down there in Alabama for its hypocrisy in Family Values. I am surprised that there is a Demo in the state legislator office. Alabama is a very red state. Patricia is an unusual woman, unique in her manner.
Think Progress:
The officers who shot at this man should be charged with murder, plain and simple.
Yet, the charges filed by DA Kari Brandenburg has the ire of the entire Albuquerque Police Dept. against her and she is not going to be intimidated by them. Yes, the police dept. are guilty of abuse of power.
"And in the wake of all of this, a scathing U.S. Department of Justice report found rampant constitutional violations in police use of force."

Cartoon:
Yes, Henry certainly knew how to handle women. All the GOP want to do is keep their women in the kitchen, barefooted and pregnant withoyt any rights at all.
Rhyme:
King Henry the Eighth,
to six wives he was wedded.
One died, one survived,
two divorced, two beheaded.
"Of the six queens, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, and Jane Seymour each gave Henry one child who survived infancy: two daughters and one son. All three of these children would eventually ascend to the throne: Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I, and King Edward VI, respectively."

4:09 Numbers always were my game!
5:20 Numbers were my game too but not this puzzle.
4:20 I guess Lynn's got our number.
I hope you got the groceries all put away and got some rest.
Huffington Post:
I am with you, I never heard of the group either, but I have decided to be a fan if they hate Walker.
Youtube: Family values can change in a flash if the Republican politician is involved. Good for this state senator, I hope she does "tell all".
Cartoon: I am sure many of them would LOVE to have that sort of power, not just on women, but also poor, homeless, and of course any from the LGBQT community as well.
Think Progress: It sounds like the Albuquerque police department needs an over haul.
Puzzle — 4:09 Numbers always were my game!
Huffington Post — Now punk rock is not my genre of music, but I like the band's succinct and to the point communication. Wasn't it back in the 2012 election cycle that Republicanus/Teabaggers used another band's music without permission, and were asked to cease and desist? They never learn!
YouTube — I put Republicanus/Teabagger family values right up there with their supply side pseudo Christian values. Nothing that the rest of us would recognise, let alone live by. I must admit that I am almost giddy with the thought that Patricia Todd might open the closet door for others!
Think Progress — I agree that the actions of the police are an abuse of power. Not only should the officers involved in the shootings be tried like any other potential felon, it would appear that the entire police force, from chief on down, needs a housecleaning. If police are unable to do the job of upholding the law, no matter who breaks it, then they need to be replaced.
Cartoon — Having read several biographies of Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I, it is very apparent that he was a Republicanus/Teabagger . . . he had the same family values and he was a pseudo Christian in that he murdered many people including some wives.
You are absolutely correct Lynn – there is a new BBC series out called 'Wolf Hall' by Hilary Mantel, with Damian Lewis as Henry VIII – and it is rather good, and shows Henry's complicated and deeply manipulative character (which complicates matters for me as I like Damian Lewis as an actor, yet loathe Henry VIII!). If he wanted something, then he believed it was his right to get it, no matter any laws (whether of God or man) in the way…. Of course he had syphillis for decades (he is used by epidemiologists as an example when looking at ancestries – his problems having children seem to be all caused by syphillis – which of course he blamed on the women….).
TY TC – I love the Huff Post article!
Cartoon – I have been calling Henry VIII 'Henry the Psychopath' for years – just look at his behaviour (and yes, the Repugs would love it)!
HuffPo ~ I thought this was hilarious! Good for them.
YouTube ~ Love thosefami "family values".
Think Progress ~This is clearly an abuse of power.
Cartoon ~ Definitely a TeaPublicanT.
Thanks all. This is a pit stop, because I'm swamped.
