I’m writing for tomorrow, day 42.  I’m still mostly down, but I have three articles, because it‘s time to change the poll.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:07 (average 4:35).  To do it, click here.  How did you do.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: In an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” on Sunday, former Vice-President Dick Cheney told host Chuck Todd that he was “sick and tired of Americans being ashamed of our beautiful legacy of torture” and that he was organizing the first “National Torture-Pride March” to take place in Washington in January.

“This is a chance for all of us torturers to say, ‘Look at us, this is who we are,’” Cheney, who will be the Grand Marshall of the parade, said.

I’d love to attend Andy’s march … with a cattle prod.

From Bernie Sanders: Sen. Bernie Sanders discusses the omnibus appropriations bill on the Senate floor.

As usual, Bernie is spot-on.

From Kansas City Star: As he drops new hints about his 2016 intentions, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is appearing in South Carolina just weeks before a self-imposed deadline to decide whether he will run for president.

Bush is scheduled to give Monday’s commencement address at the University of South Carolina. It marks the Republican leader’s second visit in three months to the state that will host the 2016 presidential primary season’s first contest in the South.

In a television interview aired on the eve of the South Carolina appearance, Bush expressed confidence that he “would be a good president,” adding that he was in the process of writing an e-book about his time as governor that would come out in the spring.

When Jeb claims that he would be a good President, he was merely proving that he is a Republican. He is lying. Jeb "Strike Three" Bush would be as bad as “Strike One” and “Strike Two”. He has the same owners.

  1. TC, the poll article is not showing loaded here at PP.  It is showing on Care2, but when one clicks the title, only a blank Care2 page comes up.  There is no link back to PP.

You said 3 articles above.  I see one here and 2 on Care2.

  2. Enough of the Bushes – Bernie Sanders for President!  (altho I would take Andy over Jeb in a heartbeat!)

  3. 4:03 average 4:48.  Lunch for TC?  I hear they're kind of tough, but Midnight Louie loves them.  Or so says Carole Nelson Douglas.

New Yorker – The problem with a cattle prod is that they will be goose-stepping so fast it will be difficult to get a good aim, or even get close enough to make a hit at all.  Maybe rubber bullets?

Bernie Sanders – Bernie always is right on.  And no one in government is listening.  OK, that's an exaggeration.  But not enough are listening to affect policy.  I don't know what it will take to change this.  But I would expect it to be drastic.  And I don't see it coming.

One problem I see that is standing in our way is that out of one side of our mouths we are talking about how the middle class is disappearing, but out of the other side of our mouth we are talking about job growth under Obama.  It doesn't compute.  Except that it does, because the vast majority of those jobs are s**t jobs which will not, without moonlighting, support an individual, let alone a family.  We are not saying that.  Understandably, we want to defend Obama.  But the Republicans also are not arguing that the vast majority of those jobs are s**t jobs, because they are perfectly happy with s**t jobs, as long as the Dow is rising.  So where is the consciousness going to come from that our entire national attitude towards jobs is deeply flawed if no one is saying anything?

Kansas City Star – The Bushes truly are a Family of Secrets (yes, that's a book plug).  Not that widespread knowledge about him would keep him from getting elected.  To anything.  Look at Scott Walker and Rick Scott.

Cartoon – And withdrew in 2012.

  4. Oh Lord! Save us from another Shrub!
    Andy has Chained-ey down PAT!
So glad to see your card in my inbox today, TomCat!

  5. Senator Bernie Sanders I – Vermont is an advocate for Veterans and Working Americans. I am thankful that he addresses the true problems with our system of Government… 😆

  6. 2:32 I rescued the pretty Koi from the jaws of the hungry TomCat!

  7. New Yorker ~ Too funny! I couldn't watch it Sunday because Chickenhawk makes me sick.

Bernie Sanders ~ As usual, Bernie was brilliant. Too bad All of the Dems weren't listening.

Kansas City Star ~ Jeb also said he is releasing all of his emails from when he was Governor of Florida. HAH! He's lying through his teeth. How many were "disappeared" that had to do with the election the Courts gave to his brother?

Catoon ~ Too bad they didn't stick with it.

  8. On Daily Kos's recommended list today was a story about a tweet posted then deleted by an actual NYPD commanding officer.

The thing is, a number of Kossacks remember this guy from Occupy, when he was so notorious that this video was made to single him out:

And it is just too da**ed funny not to share.

  9. I hope  you are feeling better very soon!

The New Yorker:  Once again, Andy is bordering on reality.  Cheney has been all over the news saying he would do it again.  I was shocked tonight to hear that 51% of Americans polled agreed with torture.  Someone needs to remind them, if they can torture prisoners, who have been convicted of nothing, they can decide to torture us, too.  These actions go against everything our country has stood for, and it bewilders me that anyone could think they are ok.

Bernie Sanders:  How I wish the rest of Congress was as Smart and caring as he is.  I am so disappointed in The President for encouraging the passing of this bill.  Once again, the middle and lower classes are thrown out in favor of Wall Street.

Kansas City Star:   The only thing worse than having another Bush in the White House would be having Ted Cruz there.  Of course he is going to run, the ego forces him to do it.

Cartoon:  Good for Canada, the US needs to do this, too.

  10. Thsnkls all.  I'm still mostly down.

    Kosher Hugs!
