I’m writing for tomorrow, day 184. It’s already evening, and I finally have time to write. ARGH! Tomorrow is a grocery delivery day, and Thursday is a major prison volunteer day. Color me rushed.

Short Takes:
From Daily Kos: \Why any ostensibly rational person living in Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana who saw this map, and still would think their states’ Republican leaders’ policies were delivering the economic growth their region so sorely needs is beyond comprehension.
Bubba Bagger should be hanging his head in shame!
From NY Times: Giving this city a measure of calm for the first time in weeks, 43 people who had direct or indirect contact with the Liberian man who died here of Ebola were declared Ebola-free on Monday.
The 43 people who were released from monitoring had all had potential contact with the Liberian man, Thomas Eric Duncan, before he was admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas on Sept. 28. Ultimately in the coming days, a total of 48 people are expected to be cleared of any risk of contracting Ebola and will start rebuilding their lives, after a 21-day isolation that amounted to a self-imposed quarantine for some of them and a more serious state-ordered quarantine for others.
Republicans had better hurry. This issue is running out of steam as a way for them to fear monger. On the other hand, Faux Noise viewers may lot learn of this.
From Upworthy: Space is vast and mysterious and kind of generally mind-freakingly amazing. And yet, we’re not really trying to get there anymore. Neil deGrasse Tyson isn’t too pleased about that.
How true! It seems that Republicans would prefer to keep the known universe from expanding into the vast empty spaces between the ears of idiots who elect them, especially those idiots that choose not to vote!

2:30 So peaceful. I could sit there for hours.
3:07 TomCat and I are resting together. Patty warmed up the seat for us.
2:57 A peaceful slice of merry old England!
Daily Kos ~ You can control the masses wirh FEAR.
NY Times ~ Now they will have to focus the FEAR on ISIL to get the votes. If Ebola doesn't spread, it's not scary.
Upworthy ~ What about the X-37B which just landed in California after 2 years in space? Yes. It was unmanned. But we are still up there even if they are unmanned flights. On the upside the X-37B which was built by Boeing, can fit into the bed of a pick-up truck and uses solar power while in space. Do we really need manned spacecraft? I don't know.
Cartoon ~ I wouldn't doubt that in some places ReThugs dirve around near some polling places with a noose hanging out their pick-up window and a bunch of Bubbas in the back with shotguns or rifles.
Speaking of “FEAR…”

Daily Kos – I agree.
NY Times – I'm so relieved for them – and everyone else! ~I saw an article in Alliance for Natural Health today
http://www.anh-usa.org/ebola-can-be-prevented-and-treated-naturally/
They think we should all keep our Selenium levels up, along with Vit D3 (and Vit K2 of course) and Vit A and Vit C etc – as they seem to feel that the soils in the areas where this horrible virus has taken off may be depleted in Selenium – sounds hopeful.
4:49 average up a whole second. I hope there are frogs in the future, not that I will be around personally, but I do like frogs and feel it would be sad if they disappeared.
Daily Kos – How they can scream so loud that people should take responsibility for their own lives and not mooch, and yet be so damned proud of themselves for mooching on the rest of America? Well, there is a term for it – cognitive dissonance – I guess.
NY Times – As I keep saying, I probably won't be around, but if I were younger I'd almost rather have it, have good medical care, and recover from it. Evidently no one has ever gotten it twice.
Upworthy – In the intervening time, those of us with both brains and hearts have watched with horror how we are destroying our own world, and are terrified of what we would do to another one – whether it would in fact be somebody else's or not. If it is somebody else's – Columbus all over again. God forbid.
Cartoon – What a national shame that this is still true.
Upworthy:
Lona in her Upworthy comment, from Care2, makes for an interesting and well founded, thoughtful perspective:
“Upworthy: With the terrible track record human kind has with colonization of newly discovered lands and the equally bad history our species has with destroying the planet it calls home, I seriously doubt that discovering new frontiers in space is our greatest priority right now. I think the money, resources and brilliant scientific minds would be better spend on finding solutions for the mess we’ve created here and on making sure we learn to keep ourselves in check before we start looking any further. Save your dreams for the nightmare we’re creating here. ”
We really need to get out of the WAR & GREED business!

The cartoon said it all. Thanks Tom
Daily Kos: This is what I try to point out to my red friends. It is beyond my comprehension that they keep voting against their own best interests.
NY Times: The Republicans have used the ebola scare to their advantage. I hope current events cause that to fizzle out. They did the same thing with AIDs in the eighties.
Upworthy: So many things that we take for granted now cameout of research done for space. We used to be a leader, now we are lagging behind.
Cartoon: That would be their first choice.
Puzzle — 2:57 A peaceful slice of merry old England!
FF — I'm both elated and saddened! I am glad that I didn't lose standing, albeit tenuous at best through the season. But I'm saddened that Patty Monster's Monster Mashers are in the cellar! What happened?
Daily Kos — The south, porportioately speaking is really taking a shit kicking. I have to think, based on what I have read over the years, that this is due to the ultra conservative view of life in a fish barrel. Cuts to education, no healthcare for many historically and states not supporting national healthcare, etc etc . . . all Republicanus/Teabagger policies and talking points.
NY Times — Well it may not worry Faux Noise much longer because they will turn their sights to the attack on the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa as a way to beat the drum of Islamaphobia and the need to close the border with Canada. Sad, because right now, little is being said about Michael Zehaf-Bibeau's possible religious ties to ISIL, but much is being said about his criminal past. I tried to access Fox News on-line but it is not available.
Upworthy — "It seems that Republicans would prefer to keep the known universe from expanding into the vast empty spaces between the ears of idiots who elect them, especially those idiots that choose not to vote!" . . . either that, or Republicanus/Teabaggers are truly afraid that sensible people will launch all Republicanus/Teabaggers into outer space with a one way ticket!
Cartoon — I don't think that is a stretch (no pun intended) given that in recent past elections, polling place moniters have been there with guns in areas where it is allowed.
Thanks all. Fell asleep at keyboard and just woke up. Hugs.
