The Republican Party is facing an ever increasing problem. They can count up all the millionaires and billionaires with no sense of their civic responsibility. They can add in all the racists, homophobes, misogynists, polluters, militias, warmongers, hatemongers, pseudo-Christians, etc., for whose support the Republican party has sold their soul. They can add to that all the fools stupid enough to watch and believe the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise. They still won’t have enough to hold power. That leaves just one last thing. If they can disenfranchise enough of the majority, they may be able to steal the vote.
In the summer of 2012, Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai (R) bragged that the voter ID law he’d helped pass was “gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania.” That law was short-lived: a federal judge issued a ruling that, as the New York Times reported, the law “hampered the ability of hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians to cast their ballots, with the burden falling most heavily on elderly, disabled and low-income residents, and that the state’s reason for the law — that it was needed to combat voter fraud — was not supported by the facts.”
This summer, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp was caught in a moment of candor when he warned a crowd of fellow Republicans: “The Democrats are working hard… registering all these minority voters that are out there and others that are sitting on the sidelines, [and] if they can do that, they can win these elections in November.”
When the Supreme Court struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act last June, it was an open invitation to states with a history of voting discrimination – previously required to clear voting restrictions with the Department of Justice – to enact laws that made it harder for traditionally Democratic-leaning groups to cast a ballot. The demographic headwinds facing the GOP, rather than the mythical specter of voter fraud, motivated those legislatures to do so with gusto. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, 22 states have enacted new voting restrictions since the Republican “wave” election in 2010. For 15 of them, this November will be the first test.
But the fight for voting rights continues in the courts. On Thursday, Richard Wolf reported for USA Today that a series of challenges to various states’ restrictive voting laws may ultimately send the Voting Rights Act back to the Supreme Court… [emphasis added]

"If they can disenfranchise enough of the majority, they may be able to steal the vote." – what – again?! They did that last time with around half a million votes it was estimated and still couldn't win – they will be trying harder this time.
(Remember one of our own C2 members confirmed that she noted that the voting machine [owned by Rmoney's family] whenever she voted for Obama changed the vote to Rmoney – and did so repeatedly no matter how many times she tried to change it back. It completely depends where one is when one discovers such things if one then alerts the authorities – if one is surrounded by gun-toting crazed Right Wingers, it would take a very great deal of courage to go up to them and protest!).

And yes the dark side lies cheats and steals and if that don't work they'll fucking kill you and that's a fact!
If we need reminding, these changes highlight why it's critical that Democrats ramp up their efforts at the STATE level.
Got to hand to the Rethuglicans – they learned that lesson of controlling state houses very well.
It might be too late for Wisconsin. Federal judge(s) have approved Wisconsin voting laws.
It might take a circut court (or higher) to get them thrown out.

Will Republicans Steal the Vote? Is the Pope Catholic?
Yes, this means we will need a supermajority in every precinct or at least every state.
Michelle Obama stated that if just 50 more people per precinct voted in 2014 than voted in 2012, Michelle Nunn will be Senator Nunn. But I have served as an election judge in precincts where we were lucky if we got 200 people total to vote. I believe I recall hearing tell of a precinct during the 90's where the total number of voters who showed up was seven.

~~They have been busy ever since Obama won the White House in 2008. It is a scary thought that in Jan.2015 we wake up to the nightmare that Obama will be chained down with no help in Washington. My husband recently got a "Vote by Mail" application in the mail – sent out by Bruce Rauner's people. Rauner is a RepubliCON "businessman" (RICH!) …and I have NO doubt he's a Union-busting Hobby Lobby-type. As much as I dislike Pat Quinn (who is a DINO in my mind), I HATE Rauner & his smug cronies! I think it's funny they think they can scare people into voting by mail, maybe they hope the fear-mongering they produce will keep "people" off the streets?
I watched Bill Maher live in DC this weekend. He couldn't stress enough how important it is that Democrats get out and vote this year. I only hope people were listening and will pass the info on to everyone they know.

Steal the votes – Yes and the gop/tp have done it in the past several elections.
Notably in 2000, 2004 and in 2010. gop tried to steal the votes in Ohio in 2008.
Remember the “meltdown” of rove during the election returns from Ohio.
Voting machines have been tampered to vote gop/tp.
Now, with the help of the scrotum 5, Citizens United, overturning the rights of voters, dark money & corporations and the do-nothing Congress led by boehner…
None of these laws to combat voter fraud have been supported by facts but that hasn't stopped the Republicans. You are right, we have to GET OUT THE VOTE! Scrotus will do anything to keep the Repugs in power.

Least we forget “gerrymandering” and “redistricting” as a practice that attempts to establish
a political advantage for a particular party or group or individual by manipulating district boundaries to create partisan advantaged districts.
And the gop/tp have been hard at work over the years in changing the election boundaries to favor them,
as a partisan group, is how they have been so successful in placing so many gop/tp into Congress.
