I’m writing for tomorrow, day 142.  The plan is to write before I leave for prison, crash when I come back, and post these whenever I wake up.  I have not seen my guys in over a month.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:25 (average 5:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Fantasy Football Report:

Here’s the latest from our own Fantasy Football League, Lefty Blog Friends.

Watch out for the big footed one who took down the winner of last year’s playoffs!  Those who wish to follow our league, may do so here.

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Hardly a bastion of liberal thought, A Forbes magazine article says Obama not only outperformed conservative hero Reagan, but also has reduced the national debt.  Here’s the last paragraph of the article:

Economically, President Obama’s administration has outperformed President Reagan’s in all commonly watched categories.  Simultaneously the current administration has reduced the deficit, which skyrocketed under Reagan.  Additionally, Obama has reduced federal employment, which grew under Reagan (especially when including military personnel,) and truly delivered a “smaller government.”  Additionally, the current administration has kept inflation low, even during extreme international upheaval, failure of foreign economies (Greece) and a dramatic slowdown in the European economy.

Forbes has obviously joined a Socialist, Kenyan conspiracy.

From The New Yorker: CNN kicked off its coverage of the latest royal pregnancy on Monday by simulating the journey of Prince William’s sperm to Kate Middleton’s egg.

Holding two plastic models of the Windsors’ reproductive cells, the CNN host Don Lemon offered viewers a dramatic re-creation of the path taken by the royal spermatozoon.

The CNN president Jeff Zucker praised the demonstration, calling it “the perfect way to kick off our twenty-four-hour coverage of this story for the next nine months.”

What Andy isn’t telling you is that, if this was a black couple, The Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, would be covering it as porn, because Kate has worn shoes since conception.

From Crooks and Liars: As Karoli already discussed last week, Fox is now moving the goal posts on their BENGHAZI!!!! "scandal" and whether there was a "stand down order" given by Hillary Clinton — and as she already noted in her post, they couldn’t even manage to make it through Bret Baier’s show hyping their upcoming special over the weekend without one of the guests killing their conspiracy theory before it got off the ground.

That didn’t stop Fox’s Greta Van Susteren and her fellow host Sean Hannity from piling on with their latest bit of outrage on the subject. Apparently someone at the White House called Van Susteren and asked her if she could get her cohort Jennifer Griffin to please quit lying about the stand down order.

Now that Fox has moved the goal posts from their original story and the lie they kept repeating that Hillary Clinton gave a stand down order that delayed any rescue attempts at the consulate, they’re claiming that Griffin’s reporting was vindicated.

Never mind that it was the CIA officer in charge of the Benghazi mission security who gave the order because he was trying to get to get the local Libyans to back up their security team. Facts don’t matter much when you’ve got a narrative to sell.

Barf Baq Alert!!

There is a spectrum of truth ranging from absolute truth at one end to the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, at the other.

  1. 3:28 I was in a hurry to eat the candy.

  2. I hope you have a great visit with your guys today. I bet they miss you too.

FF ~ Lynn is probably coing to stomp all over me this week. Good luck to all the teams!

Daily Kos ~ I be all the NeoCons choked on their morning coffe while reading this report. Funny I haven't gotten any emails from anyone about this article.

New Yorker ~ Too funny for words!

Crooks & Liars ~ We all know they don't need no stinking facts.

Cartoon ~ I think we coonvinced our Mom to buy them for us in 1956 or so. It was the fried chicken. That was when they were still made with real food.

  3. I'm so glad you got to work with the prisoners again TC, they must have been so glad to see you.

Forbes article – I do hope people don't get sacked there for telling the truth – the lunatic right will be having kittens at the sight of it!

New Yorker – I hope they stop at two, considering the over-population of the world.  Andy is right though that there will be nine months (then baby pictures!) of drivel about this baby….

Crooks and Liars – I sometimes wish there was a fly on the wall at some of the Far Right meetings about this nonsense  that could tell us exactly what happens – do they come out openly and admit what they are doing (lying, moving the goalposts etc) or do they all murmur hypocrisies left right and centre?

  4. 4:57  The long description is more honest – just saying "Candy Fruit" implies the presence of fruit in there with all the high fructose corn syrup, guar gum, and artificial colors and flavors.

So glad you got to see your guys – I know all about not being able to see someone for a month and it is never fun.  I hope it went splendidly.

Daily Kos – I read that in DK also, and, while I couldn't get through all the comments, there were two recurring – what should I say, memes? – that should be mentioned.  The first is that the diarist is wrong, it was not in Forbes magazine.  It was in Forbes on line.  That said, it was by a long time contributor with a stellar resume, and it was a fact not an opinion articles, but Forbes is entitled to choose not to stand behind it if they so decide.  The second is that it's, for many commenters and for me, a little depressing to hear all this praise for the President for NOT acting like a Democrat.  Reducing the size of Government in particular was a mistake and has made unemployment worse than it needed to be.  That said, of course it's a good idea to push this article on Republicans, especially in States where they are trying to hurt Dems by tying them to Obama.

New Yorker – Well, CNN doesn't have Benghazi so they have to do something for ratings LOL.

Crooks and Liars – Sigh.  Only on Faux News would someone display pride that the White House had to call to politely ask them to stop lying (because of course that makes the lie true.)  No shame.

Cartoon – I remember those.  Now I find microwavable divided dishes and make my own from the crock pot.  So mine are still made with real food, or as real as I can get LOL.

  5. Well, of course I remember Swansons TV Dinner.  Of course there were no microwaves back then – but that refrigerator looks awfully stubby.  I do NOT remember ever having to bend over to look into the freezer compartment.

  6. Glad you had a good day with your guys!

Daily Kos:  I tried to share this on Facebook for all my red friends. Hope it worked.

The New Yorker"  From all the rest of the coverage this would not surprise me, either.  You are right in your assessment, TC

crooks and liars:  They will never let this go, Benghazi is the only thing they have left to stir up their troops. That is, unless they completely misinterpret the presidents speech about ISIS tonight.

Cartoon:  I am so grateful that my parents couldn't afford to buy tv dinners when they came out, we had to eat home cooking instead. When I got my own kitchen I bought some, yuck, never again.

  7. Puzzle — 3:48 I wasn't in such a hurry for the candy . . . sends my blood sugars up astronomically.  But then occassional highs are better than lows!  Trust me on that one!

FF — I can see that I am in 3rd place based on the "points for" for those that won their game.  But what are these waivers?  I always thought that if a player were on waivers, he could be gone at any time. Please explain in blonde/gray/purple terms TC.  Thanks

Daily Kos — Det Joe Friday: "Just the facts ma'm, just the facts."  Lady: "Those ARE the facts!"

"Facts" are things that confuse the crap out of conservatives, especially when the facts don't support their ideas or ideology.  Joe Friday would be very annoyed with conservatives.  TC, does Forbes read your blog?  You have been saying these same things for eons!

The New Yorker — I had this in my inbox and read it, but didn't see Andy's usual doses of satire.  I do agree with Pat that we will have 9 months of pregnancy fashion, specifically Kate Middleton's attire, her morning sickness reports and speculations.  That will be followed by baby pictures. Sigh . . .

Crooks and Liars — One thing I thought was interesting was when Van Susteren commented on Faux Noise not being invited to two press briefings.  When did Faux Noise become a "news organisation"?  They are a propaganda machine.  I think Faux Noise has lied for so long that they no longer know the difference between right and wrong, between news and propaganda.

Cartoon — I remember those TV dinners layed out tin foil plates.  Years later when I had my first Swanson's TV dinner (did I mention it was also my last?) I thought I was eating cardboard with brown swill, not meat and gravy. The potatoes were imitation, and the green peas were hard as rocks.  If I recall, the only decent thing was that itty-bitty bit of apple cobbler with a thimble of caramel sauce.  Obviously, Swanson's had added the desert idea later.

    • OK.  The further behind yoiu are in the standings, the lower your waiver number for the week.  If you try to add a player before Wedsnesday, you get to make a waiver request for that player.  When Wednesday comes, if more than one person has tried to add the same player, the person with the lowest waiver number gets him.  If you have submitted more than one waiver request, you don't get your second, until everyone else has gotten their first.  Undertsand?
