I’m writing for tomorrow, day 125.  Last night, I made a couple comments on Care2 and did the puzzle.  Then I just crashed.  I stayed awake just long enough to post the Personal Update. This morning I did all the research for tomorrow’s articles and ate two meals.  I napped for a couple hours and just woke up.  I feel quite groggy.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:05 (average 5:14).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Religious Agony:

At least, when the starters left the meditation, Denver led 17-7.

Short Takes:

From YouTube: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) recorded a video address for the Iowa AFL-CIO’s annual meeting. He talked about the need to address the crisis of income and wealth inequality, create millions of new jobs through the rebuilding of our crumbling infrastructure, raise the minimum wage, overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision and end our disastrous trade policies. He also called for a political revolution that will get millions of people involved in the political process.

That’s what I call a blueprint for the future from a national treasure.

From Daily Kos: Can’t find any CNN text but here’s a report on the video content from Medialite:

Earlier this week, Fox News reported that Darren Wilson, the Ferguson police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old unarmed Michael Brown, suffered a fractured eye socket following his confrontation with the teenager. The reporter, Hollie McKay, cited a “source close to the [police] department’s top brass” as providing that information to the network.

However, on CNN Thursday, Don Lemon reported that Wilson did not suffer a fractured or broken eye socket and was rather treated at the hospital for swelling around his face and eyes. Noting that that specific injury has not been reported by CNN, “but is making its way around other media organization,” Lemon cited a “source close to the investigation” who told CNN that Wilson’s x-rays came back negative for a fractured eye socket.

“That source says it is not true, at all, he did not have a torn eye socket,” Lemon said. “Unequivocally.”

Minor Barf Bag Alert!

I could not help but notice that hearing that the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, was lying from the outset crushed Nancy Grace’s countenance. Note the downturned corners of her mouth differed from her normal attack-sneer.

From AlterNet: To see how corrupt the United States government has become, just follow the money.  According to the most recent Federal Reserve Flow of Funds report, US households currently have an all-time high $82 trillion in overall wealth.  If that wealth were spread out evenly, every US household would now have $712k.  However, as of the end of 2013, the median household only had $56k in wealth.  From 2007 – 2013, overall wealth increased 26%, while the median household lost a shocking 43% of their wealth. If median wealth continues to decline at this rate, over 50% of US households will be bankrupt within the next decade.

Even worse, the bottom 40% has less that 0.1% (1/10 of 1%) of the wealth.

  1. 6:21  Reasonable for a jumble

YouTube – The blueprint is great.  Now we just need the materials and the construction crew.  Oh, yeah, that means the funding first.  Oh, and getting those pesky buiilding permits.  Well, we do have our work cut out for us.

Daily Kos – The most newsworthy aspect of this is that Fox actually backtracked.  There was an Xray going around the 'Net (candidly I don't think it was on the news) purporting to be of Wilson, but it turned out to be that of a teenager and ws taken at the University of Iowa.  The University of Iowa logo was blacked out.  Why does this remind me of a certain birth certificate?  Gloria, I don't think anyone but Wilson himself and his family who disppeared with him knows where they are.  You still have to find someone before you can arrest him or her.  Time for Dog the Bounty Hunter?

AlterNet – I think most Republicans grasp that this is the status, they just don't see anything wrong with it.  The free market is doing its job.  But then, history is not their strong suit.

Cartoon – Pliny the Elder was killed, after having crossed the Bay on a rescue mission.  And apparently with some scientific curiosity, though that was not his primary motivator based on eyewitness accounts.

  2. 4:00  What a sugar high!

I'm off to see momma so don't worry if I haven't commented on the stories when you go in.

  3. Sarah Palin does a take-off on Patrick Stewart's clever parody of the ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge" donation videos – and Satah's is actually kinda funny at the end:

But knowing Sarah, I bet she misspelled "ALS" on her check.

And it would have been even funnier if, rather than just running off-screen screaming, she was yelling "I'm melting!  I'm melting!"

  4. I am in Bernie's camp. I agree with everything he said.  When the trade unions are gone, no one will have any job protection.   We need to apply a surcharge to every item sold here that was not produced here, then maybe the corporations would start bringing jobs back.  They also need to be paying their taxes and not allowed to move their corporate address to another company to avoid paying US Taxes.  I wold love to see Bernie as president but am sure that will never happen.  He has too much common sense.

Daily Kos:  You are right, Nancy Grace lost her sneer.

Alternet:  These are horrible statistics but cannot be disputed.  This won't change until we change who we have in Congress and change numerous regulations that allow this to happen.

  5. Puzzle — 4:00  What a sugar high!

YouTube — Go Bernie!!!  I couldn't agree more with Bernie!  Interestingly enough, what he said also applies to Canada,  I don't suppose the US would agree to share Bernie?!

Daily Kos — It wouldn't surprise me if Wilson asked the other officer to rough him up to make things look good. And Faux Noise . . . all they know are lies and deceit!  They really make me want to hurl!

Alternet — Bernie's address comes to mind.  This so perfectly puts it in pictures!

Cartoon — Vesuvius might be a Republican mountain . . . full of hot air and caustic gas , , , but unlike the Republicanus/Teabaggers in the Congress, at least Vesuvius accomplished something!

Other — Reported here on the news — Burger King is in discussions with Tim Horton's to buy the Canadian company.  According to our news, Burger King would keep the Canadian head office of Timmy's in Canada for tax inversion purposes.  No word on an amount for the purchase but apparently the 2 company's are worth $18 billion.
