Speaking in Minneapolis Friday, Barack Obama answered Congressional Republicans’ threats of a lawsuit by telling the truth, He did so calmly, humorously and without rancor. In the process he demonstrated just how foolishly Republicans are behaving with crystal clarity. Watch the video, and judge for yourselves.
President Barack Obama used a campaign-style speech in the American heartland Friday to blast his Republican opponents as feckless obstructionists in Congress, saying Washington’s current gridlock “drives me nuts.”
Republicans have become so obsessed with blocking the Democratic president’s every move that he has been forced to use his executive authority to advance priorities like pay fairness, Obama said, dismissing as a stunt a threatened Republican lawsuit against him.
The White House and Republican congressional leaders, notably House Speaker John Boehner, have sparred repeatedly over Obama’s use of executive orders, with Boehner warning this week that Americans “didn’t elect a monarch or king.
The top Republican in Congress announced Wednesday he would file a lawsuit against Obama because “the president has not faithfully executed the laws” of the nation.
An unapologetic Obama ridiculed the approach, calling it a “stunt” in an interview with ABC News…

Here’s that complete video.
And here’s a link to the transcript.
It’s too bad that it took Obama several years to adapt to Republicans’ unprecedented criminal sedition, through obstruction. We would be better off had he learned earlier, but I think he is improving, at long last.

I think he has known for a long time because he has commented on their bstructionism several times. There must have been some reason why he chose to not be as forceful in his speech before. Now he wants to win a Democratic House and Senate so he is calling them on all their misdeeds.

"Because I just want to be real blunt: If you watch the news, you just see, okay, Washington is a mess, and the basic attitude is everybody is just crazy up there. But if you actually read the fine print, it turns out that the things you care about right now Democrats are promoting…. And we’re just not getting enough help."
Doesn't that say it all. But of course one actually has to read the fine print.
I think it is because the Republican's criminal secition was unprecedented that it took so long for him, maybe not to see it, but to figure out what to do with it. It's easy to be blindsided by something for which there is NO precedent whatsoever.
Well I have always believed Obama is what this country needs. But I forgot one thing liked Obama said it's not about one it's about all of us. I also know this is the man I voted for and this is the man who gave me hope in 2008 and in 2014 that has not changed. Thanks Tom for remaining all of us that hope bluids the country and cynicism rips this country apart.
My one dissappointment about Obama is that he didn't hit the Republicans harder from day one. Republicans told him on day one they were not going to help him at all. I didn't envision the depth of hate against him, but he was told and he should have treated them differently from the begining. It's typical (laughable) that the Republicans want to sue him for the same process Republican presidents used to pass policy. Typical Republican hypcricy. At least one person in Washington is doing something. I can't prove it but I think Hillary would have had more sucess with the Republicans and certainly would have had a harder line with them.
Matt Bristol's bar (a stop for Obama while in Minneapolis) home of the "Juicy Lucy" was a constant hang out for me. That was years ago. I hope he enjoyed the "Juicy Lucy" it's a great burger. By the way, long time owner of the bar, Matt Bristol, died just a week ago.
See what a generous, kind, thoughtful President we have? Even goes so far as to Invite those that HATE him over for a bite at lunchtime.
(Give 'em HELL, Barack! Those hate-mongering Rethuglicans earned it – and they deserve it!)
I am glad to see him finally telling them how it is and using his executive powers to over ride their obstructionism.
"Obama Has Congress for Lunch" and now he has a giant case of indigestion, but that indigestion can be cured with the removal of all Republicanus/Teabaggers from the Congress.
I liked the strength of his speech and its tenor. As others have said, too bad he didn't employ it earlier. I suppose that comes from, erroneously in this case, thinking positively and thinking negotiation is possible.
The gloves are off!
Thanks all. I'm rushing, because I overslept?
I am so proud to have played a part in efforts to elect and reelect my Commander and Chief…. 😆
