Day 68. I’m writing for tomorrow and am feeling somewhat better, having eaten binding foods. But I’m still drained and thoroughly disappointed over missing the volunteer time with my guys. Happy first day od Ramadan to our Muslim friends.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 2:47 (average 4:34). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From The New Yorker:
Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) said today that he plans to sue President Obama for violating the United States Constitution with what Boehner called “his outrageous practice of accomplishing things.”
“The United States Constitution guarantees the American people that its government will be free from activity,” Boehner told reporters. “Again and again, President Obama has broken that sacred trust.”
Ripping the President for his “willful insistence on doing things,” Speaker Boehner said that his lawsuit was intended “to restore the inaction and inertia that have been the hallmarks of our democracy.”
The Speaker acknowledged that suing the President was an extreme measure, but added, “I take this step only after exhausting every other method to prevent him from getting anything done.”
LOL Andy!! I think that Agent Orange is just trying to find a time-wasting show-and-tell for his runaway Baggers that stops short of impeaching Obama, which Boehner knows would pull lazy lefty voters out of their lethargy. He doesn’t care how many taxpayer dollars it wastes.
From Daily Kos: I have often wondered where would be a good place for my young son to go one day to ride out catastrophic climate-changed earth. It is sounding more and more like there’s nowhere to go that is best suited to survive the coming catastrophe.
If climate change continues on its current trajectory, the report concluded, Midwesterners could see deadly heat-and-humidity pairings (which meteorologists call "wet-bulb temperature") two days every year by later this century.
"It will be functionally impossible to be outside, including for things like construction work and farming, as well as recreation," said climate scientist Michael Oppenheimer of Princeton University.
When the time comes, unless we can prevent it, we must remember to call those days Republican days.
From Media Matters: From the June 26 edition of Fox News’ Outnumbered:
Personally, I have never been a soccer fan, and given the abuses centered around the World Wup, I’m not inclined to become one. It would be different, if I had a personal history with the sport, but in my life, I have scored a total of one goal, and that was over fifty years ago. However, only the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, could find a way to use America’s success as a reason to trash Obama.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:28 It looks a lot like around here except – I'm pretty sure there's no snow on Pikes Peak right now – and you won't find a non-cultivated meadow here that green – how old is this picture anyway?
(Yesterday's 4:43 didn't have time yesterday)
New Yorker – Makes as much sense as suing him for pushing climate change mitigation, which is what someone published that he has decided on. Now – I'm sure he could find courts somewhere in the country which would not dismiss such a lawsuit as frivolous. But in the venue or venues available to him to pursue hus suit, will he be able to find such a court?
Daily Kos – Yet – follow the lawsuit.
Media Matters – Like nobody in US history never took off work to watch baseball. How soon we forget. Ah, but the Coultergeist says (let me see if I can get this right) nobody whose grandfather (or great-grandfather; I've seen it both ways) could possibly been interested in soccer; it's un-American. (I couldn't watch – it wouldn't play and exploded the blog page trying.)
Cartoon – Yes, isn't that nice. It's not a huge lead though, well within the margin of error, so turnout will be vital – as if it wouldn't be vital in every race this year.
The Court in question has to be the DC Circuit. That's one of the rewasons Republicans are fighting so hard to block Obama's appointments to that Court.
(Totally off topic but too silly not to share) Cute Overload from time to time features "Disapproving Rabbits" – there is just something about the facial expressions of at least some rabbits that makes you feel they are enthusiastically disapproving. I think perhaps CO needs to start featuring "Disapproving Turtles."
Or disapproving OF Republicans!
Per Gene's Executive Orders chart above in Saturday June 28, 2014, 5:09 am comment says that Obama has had the fewest number of Executive Orders (147) and the most number of oppositions (923) tells me that RACISM is very much alive and well in the gop/tp ranks. This leads well into using this frivolous suit as a publicity tool for the gop/tp people as propaganda against Obama and the Democrats for the upcoming 2014 fall election campaign. The expectation is to have people with less intelligence about politics to vote for the gop/tp people as saying that Obama is "breaking the law" by using this suit publicly for impeachment. Big media outlets will certainly hype this as best as they can to promote a bigger voter turnout for the gop/tp against the Democrats.
Obama is correct when he said this: "You know, the suit is a stunt. But what I've told Speaker Boehner directly is, 'If you're really concerned about me taking too many executive actions, why don't you try getting something done through Congress?'"
Awesome words from Obama!
I agree, and said essentilly the same thing even before he did. 🙂
The New Yorker" Andy is soooo good. Boehner does nothing but berates the Prez for acting. This latest stunt, a lawsuit would be laughable if we the tax payers were not footing the bill.
Daily Kos: Unless something is done and done very soon, those days are coming. We shoud call them Republican days, Instead of Sunday thru Saturday we could have McConnell, Paul, Ryan, Cantor,Palin,Graham,Rogers, and Boehner days.
Media Matters: My five y ear old granddaughter is playing soccer, I know next to nothing about it. To all those who enjoy watching any sport, I say go for it. Faux news will use anything to trash Obama.
Cartoon: YES! And I am loving it. The only downside is the hideous commercials on tv and radio that Mitch keeps airing. He is spending a fortune on them. Grimes isn't, she doesn't need to. I have great hope that she will win.
.
I thought you might like that cartoon. 😀
3:12 That is one hell of a mountain to climb! I can't keep up to that sure footed puddy tat!
I was not yet well enough to take my time on it.
3:06 I tripped on a mountain..

TC, glad you are feeling better.
Thanks!
To all Muslims, blessings at Ramadan which lasts from Sunday 29/06/14 through Sunday 27/07/14. In Farsi, Salam and salamat bashid,
Puzzle — 3:12 That is one hell of a mountain to climb! I can't keep up to that sure footed puddy tat!
The New Yorker — Spot on Andy. If these toads, the Republicanus/Teabaggers lead by Boehner and McTurtle, actually spent the time working for the people and not wasting tax payer funds on partisan agendas, the country would be in better shape.
Daily Kos — "Thanks "conservatives" for "conserving" Koch brother profits instead of your kids futures." — Indeed! Lay the blame were it belongs . . . at the feet of the conservatives who deny and block all positive climate action just for greed.
Media Matters — Stupid is as stupid does! I played soccer with the neighbourhood boys as a teen. I was the goalie, just as I was in hockey. I wonder if these boneheads support the LA Galaxy.
Cartoon — At this juncture, it looks like Grimes will bitch slap Bought Bitch Mitch aka McTurtle! You go girl!
You played soccer?!!? The POOR balls!! 😉
Yes, and in my bare feet, often on cinders. Once stopped a ball with my face. Now you know why the dog wouldn't play with me after that, even with a pork chop around my neck!
Who can tell me just what positive action has John Boenher taken since 2008.
ANYONE?
(and for what does he get paid!.(maybe Ayn Rand,s greatest supporter could explain) Damned if I know.
One little aside. I spent most of my teenage years(in the UK) with my dad watching Man U. at old Trafford. GREAT GAME..Players. fit NOT fat.
