I have never been a big parade fan. I think as a kid I became really afraid of them. But there are two parades that I could cope with . . . a parade of Republicans to the unemployment office on November 5, and a parade of the Conservatives to the unemployment office in May 2015!
My dad was military and my son was both an Eagle Scout and NROTC, my daughter drill team, so I am just bit passed the point of loving parades a few too many, I guess. Though I am always happy for the young people that have the opportunity to show their stuff in a city wide parade.
Living in the city of the REAL "Rose Parade"** I love a good parade and even get teary-eyed, seeing the bands, the flags, cute kids, etc. It's hard to be depressed watching a happy parade!
(**sorry, Tom, but we're rather proud of our production down here.. 🙂 )
I enjoy parades as long as I don't have to be there and swelter or freeze. I am shallow enough to prefer the big prooduction pieces like floats and balloons to the groups. I admire the work and crafting that goes into them, so maybe I'm not totally shallow.
I was in a marching band in high school, yes I was a nerd. But, I still love parades. Sorry, TC, I have never had one beneath my bedroom window. Good pics, though.
