I’m writing for tomorrow, late on what has been largely a lazy day. I figured I’d better rest now, since I have a busy week coming up, so I shall be brief. Day 27.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s tool me 3:35 (average 4:42). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Upworthy: Writer Kendra Eash wrote an amazing bit of satire mocking how the ad industry likes to use vague, inspirational nonsense to capture people’s attention. So Dissolve, a stock video distributor, took her words and visualized them in an amazingly vague, faux-inspirational video that tells you absolutely nothing at all. It’s kind of hilarious. 2:19 is my favorite moment.
If you run an ad agency, please use this as a clarion call to say actual things in your clients’ commercials. Things that actually add something to the discourse. PLEASE?!
Dang!! You mean I don’t need Jenny Craig for what sticks out and Viagra for what doesn’t?
From Daily Kos: Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) will be giving Duck Dynasty actor Phil Robertson a fist time ever "Governor’s Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence.” However as reported by Reason.com the show has been getting far more that awards from the state of Louisiana.
"The state subsidizes up to 30 percent of local production spending, offering tax credits redeemable for cash."
A industrial insider estimates that the show gets as much as $70,000 dollars from Louisiana taxpayers per show the ‘ Dynasty ‘ family makes $200,000 per show.
So we can assume that being the ‘Tea Party Dynasty Poster child pays handsomely on the taxpayers Dime
Republicans always want tax payers to pay for TEAbuggery, while millionaires reap reap the gain.
From Politico: Oregon GOP Senate candidate Monica Wehby was accused by her ex-boyfriend last year of “stalking” him, entering his home without his permission and “harassing” his employees, according to a Portland, Oregon police report.
Wehby, a pediatric neurosurgeon, is the leading Republican candidate to challenge Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.).
Wehby was questioned by a police officer on April 3, 2013, after being seen leaving the area near the home of Andrew Miller. Miller, the wealthy owner of a timber company, had been romantically involved with Wehby but their relationship was ending at that time, they both say now.
Wehby, who is vying for the Oregon GOP Senate nomination, was not arrested in the incident.
But the Portland police report detailing the incident said Miller, owner of Stimson Lumber in Portland, was worried that Wehby had come to his home uninvited, and had even entered the residence without his permission. Miller said he was considering getting a protective order against Wehby, the report states.
A pediatric neurosurgeon running to deny health care to children. Scheeesch!! If she were anything better than devious and deranged, she would not be the Republican frontrunner.

3:10 Is the passion flower in honor of Rupert's purchase of Harlequin?
3:37 I took my time pollinating.
4:23 – Puzzle
Monster Mashed!
5:47 Taking my time to appreciate it while I can. It needs bees to pollinate so who knows how much longer it will be around.
Upworthy – I no longer watch any commercial TV. But it's also like this on PBS, although in the time they have there for a short announcement they can only work witht he company slogan, but the images are just as inane. "Franklin Templeton – gain from our perspective." "Liberty Mutual – It's not the things we have but the memories we make with them." Right.
Daily Kos – Anyone surprised that Bobby Jindal is drawn to fraud? Or that taxpayer support goes to people who make sex toys for ducks?
Politico – Sshh! Don't spread it around yet! Let her get the nomination, and THEN trot out Andrew Miller. He can be a real Oregon hero if he and we play our cards right!
Cartoon – Nor no interwebs, neither!
If she doesn't. they'll trot out someone just as absurd. Either way, they'll spend a fortune fooling the sheeple who aren't paying attention.
TC, it is well known that kitties need their rest, so don't worry about those extra Zzzs!
Daily Kos – I understand they were clean shaven yuppie looking before – perhaps it is worth growing beards and spouting claptrap to them to get such huge sums of money a week! What price ethics?!
Politico – Mr Miller – change the locks, install security cameras, and hide any pets safely!! Yikes!
In real life they look and act more likew Little Lord Willard than Bubba Butthumper.
Following up an earlier discussion, as to the Benghazi committee, I though that one, maybe two, strong vocal Dems would be about right. I thought of but didn't mention Alan Grayson, because he is pretty busy actually getting things done, and I doubted he would be willing to serve. But he is! Here is a petition asking to put him on the committee:

Signed and thanks Joanne D.
Been there – signed that! 🙂
Congrats on Day 27! Today marks 2 years for me.
Upworthy ~ I've been commenting for years now how commercials don't really advertise what they're trying to sell. I don't watch them any more. I read or get up and do something while they're on.
Daily Kos ~ Another Welfare "king".
Politico ~ She might be a runner up for Bat-shit Queen.
Cartoon ~ Another FDR success story.
There is no such thing as oversleeping when you are retired. Your body knows how much sleep you need.
Upworthy: They left out a puppy! how could they not know that babies and puppies sell, too?
Daily Kos: Not surprised that the show is subsidized. I had never heard of them until the controversy. I sneaked a peak afterward and am totally amazed at how much money they are making for the content. A & E used to be a quality network.
Politico: A pediatric neurosurgeon who is running to defeat health care for children is enough to convince me she is nuts. Never mind stalking a rich boy friend. She could be a lot wealthier if those poor kids had access to her services.
Cartoon: One of the best things that happened to this area. According to most of the country, even today, the south deserves nothing. I am paper white, but have encountered discrimination while living in Michigan because I have a southern accent. And here I thought being white as a ghost exempted me. Sadly none of my Grandmother's Cherokee blood was passed on to me.
I guess my bofy has a way ofd shutting that down! 😉
Thanks all. This late night nap must be my body telling me it wants to be part of my schedule. 🙂
Puzzle — 3:16 Purdy fwower!
Upworthy — I took a course in advertising in grade 12 English. The message you are watching on TV commercials is not the primary message, but a secondary message. Most are an emotional pitch to a perceived desirable lifestyle which is contained in the pictures. Of course, the connection to the product is the way to get there. I don't have cable so I have no TV viewing time. I do not miss the commercials.
Daily Kos — I had never heard of Duck Dynasty before the Phil Robertson suspension controversy, but it doesn't sound like something worth watching. Having googled it, I can say I would not ever watch it as reality TV is definitely not my style. That Jindal supports it with tax credits etc does not surprise me. After all, he is a Republicanus/Teabagger and this Robertson family seems to be the epitome of building your own business dynasty. It would however seem that there are a lot more worthy projects to spend money on . . . healthcare and education are just two.
Politico — That must be Wehby in the picture for your next article "Bill Maher Introduces Faux Smut". A pediatric neurosurgeon? Just because she has an education doesn't mean she is smart. Certainly says something about her principles if she, as a medical doctor, thinks the Republicanus/Teabaggers are the party to represent. Total conflict of ethics.
Cartoon — Had to read up on the TVA "Tennessee Valley Authority". Goes to show you why FDR was a good guy for the times . . . he actually thought of people in a very hard hit area of the country during the Depression. Won't catch a Republicanus/Teabagger doing that!
