I’m writing for tomorrow and am feeling quite exhausted.  I spent the day in the new place unpacking and putting away deliveries from yesterday, and waiting for today’s deliveries.  They arrived just as I was leaving to return here,  so I just shoved them in.  I had to leave before the snow hit.  ARGH!  Tomorrow I’ll be working here on my final move prep.  On Wednesday at 9:00 AM the movers arrive.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 6:33 (average 6:39).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Take:

From Daily Kos: NBC’s Meet the Press was very adoring to Nelson Mandela today. In their adoration they were attempting to discount the fact that America was complicit in apartheid survival as long as it did.

President Obama’s remarks glossed over how vehemently the government of the United States, specifically Republicans, for a long time was against Nelson Mandela and the ANC. They never accepted that the African National Congress (ANC) was no different than our founding fathers, who picked up arms for freedom.

Al Sharpton silenced the round table as he placed into context America’s role in South Africa’s liberation. The USA was not a supporter of Nelson Mandela. Conservatives are attempting to rewrite history. Al Sharpton ensured that all around that table were forced to accept that fact. He ensured that all of those listening were well aware that Conservative stalwarts like Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher did not embrace freedom. They uttered the words but it was just for a select few.

At times, our President tries too hard to be non-confrontational. Kudos to Al Sharpton for accurately pointing out the shameful history of Republican Party support for apartheid. They have not changed. Consider that today’s Republicans are doing their best to establish apartheid in America’s voting booths.

  1. 4:32 Thankfully I didn't get hung up on one of the fence posts. that would have been painful.

    Meow! TC on a fence.

  2. Just don't overdo the moving. Unpacking doesn't have to be done in one fell swoop. Frequent rests are needed.

Daily Kos ~ Although I am not a big fan of Rev. Sharpton, I respect him and am delighted that he put the other talking heads in their places. Conservatives would like nothing better than for Apartheid to have continued in South Africa and to have spread across the ocean to our "free" country.

    Cartoon ~ LOL

Fantasy Football ~ My Monster Mashers beat Mitts Magic Jock! Hooray! I ignored the advice of the Gurus. if I had listened to them, I would have lost again.

  3. Patty's got some good, solid advice on pacing yourself.

Of course there will always be those unexpected bumps and setbacks along the way, but enjoy the move and your new digs!  It really looks like a nice building!  You said your place is on the 3rd floor, "front" – but what's the "front" … Oak or SW 4th?  They both look like "front" to me.

  4. Reverend Al Sharpton — In the words of an old TV programme, "Sock it to 'em!!!"

Apartheid, racism, and discrimination anywhere in the world must suffer an ignominious death!  Human rights must be lifted up for all!!

    • Sharpton has lost an amazing amount of weight…just one of the benefits of becoming a vegan.

      • I can believe that.  I have had a number of people tell me that I have lost a lot of weight.  I may have lost some.  While I am not a vegan, I am more often eating as a vegetarian.  I probably eat meat twice a week now and don't really miss it.

  5. 5:49, not too bad for a puzzle with such a high average.

I saw the Mandela/Sharpton article and read a number of the comments.  I am so glad that Sharpton was there!  I would be even gladder if the Federal Government would figure out finally that today's "Marxist agitators" are tomorrow's "Freedom fighters," and get off the backs of real patriots like Occupy.  But unless the entire staffs of the FBI, CIA, and NSA are fired and replaced with sane progressives, I don't see that happening.

  6. What Patty said about the move, TC. Once you dig out the stuff you absolutely have to have, let the rest be a leisure-time activity. Hopefully, guitar man is still in jail so your last night at your old digs will be relatively peaceful. The new place sounds like a vast improvement.

Rev. Sharpton should count this among his finer moments.

  7. Take all of the above advice about your move.  You need to pace yourself so you don't get sick again.

Daily Kos:  I quit watching Meet the Press shortly after Gregory became the host.  He irritates me almost as much as Rand Paul.  Good for Rev. Sharpton.  He always calls it as he sees it.  Glad he didn't let them run away with it.

Pres. Obama's efforts to be non-confrontational have caused him a lot of problems.  I wish he would quit doing it with the Republicans.  They are critical of everything he does, anyway.

    Love the cartoon.

  8.    Thanks ..TC,….Hope the big move went well…and …you didn't over do. Everything will get put away in due course…or…as you need something and can't find it.!!!… Much praise to Rev. Al.! He has a way of "telling it as it is" and dosen't pull any punches…..GOP was always against Nelson Mandela.I remember that whole period of conflict in South Africia.( it just gave me another reason to dislike the GOP). ….I don't watch "Meet the Press" very much anymore….can't stand D.G….It needs a new host.!
