One Vet Gets It Right

Republicans like to do things for show.  They like to hold up little Constitutions, while they subsequently violate it with glee.  They like to wrap themselves in the flag, while they defecate on what it represents.  And they like to feign support for Veterans, while they slash their benefits and defund their programs.  Here’s a Vet that sees right through them.

15RedgeRaynardWhile veterans stormed memorials yesterday with the help of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and former half-term governor, best-selling author and reality television star Sarah Palin, another veteran was on the airwaves hitting Republicans — and hitting them hard — for the government shutdown. Coming after the latest Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll showing 70 percent of the nation thinks congressional Republicans like Cruz are putting their political interests ahead of the country, this has gotta hurt.

Redge Ranyard is featured in a powerful ad taking congressional Republicans to task for the shuttered government and its impact on veterans. The 90-year-old World War II Navy veteran was ticked off by a comment House Speaker John Boehner made nearly two weeks ago. According to the New York Times story that got Ranyard’s blood boiling, Boehner told his raucous caucus mere days after the start of the shutdown, “We are locked in an epic battle.” In his response on behalf of VoteVets.org, Ranyard doesn’t mince words…

Kudos to this hero who speaks not just for veterans, but for us all.

  1. God bless this most excellent and heroic man!  Redge Ranyard tells the truth – straight from the shoulder!  Thanks TC!

  2. Left a message to Speaker John Boehner to reopen the Government…

  3. Good for Mr. Ranyard.  I shared this video on Facebook, I hope some of my friends who are still Republican blush when they see it.

  4. "I served this nation with honor.  Today, I can’t say the same about most Republicans in Congress."

Redge Ranyard lands a bullseye, tells it as it is, shoots from the hip, straight and accurately!

In an MSNBC article, GOPers balk at Boehner bill, defeat and desperation are in the air, and it looks like the Republicanus/Teabaggers are trying entangle the Democrats in the blame.

"Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina suggested Democrats help Boehner out with his dilemma and relent on some of their demands, even if it was the Speaker’s fault things had reached the current point.

“We really did go too far. We screwed up,” Graham said. “Their response is making things worse.”"

If the shutdown and debt default situation weren't so sad, so pathetic, so economically difficult for people like Redge Ranyard and others, average Americans, Graham's response would be almost funny.  Republicanus/Teabaggers keep calling for concessions from Democrats while not giving an inch from their position.

Democrats need to stay the course because another set of concessions will only embolden the Republicanus/Teabaggers for the next face-off.

I heard on the news tonight that the credit rating agencies have already put the US on a negative watch with down grade likely.  Any wonder veterans like Redge Ranyard think the Republicanus/Teabaggers have no honour!

  5. Just like the WaPo to intentionally mislead its readers! As a critic of mainstream media, I object to the WaPo's brief characterization of Sarah Palin because it contains a couple of glaring inaccuracies. Were I a WaPo editor, I would amend the first sentence (of the quoted material) to read as follows:

"While veterans stormed memorials yesterday with the help of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and half-wit former governor, best-selling author and reality television star wannabe Sarah Palin, another veteran was on the airwaves hitting Republicans — and hitting them hard — for the government shutdown."

Anyway, more kudos to Ranyard for tellin' it like it is.
