Vladimir Putin (R-RU)

Not long ago, the military forces of Vladimir Putin, aka GOP Pootie, attacked a Greenpeace ship on the high seas, imprisoned its crew, and is holding them to face trumped up charges in a Russian court.  One would think that all Americans would be furious over such violation of human rights, but not so.  Putin loves guns and hates gays, so Republicans love their GOP Pootie so much, that they are even helping him promote his oppression of LGBT people.  Here’s some Republican praise for him.

gopVisionThe American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer began his radio program yesterday by reading a series of quotes from a mystery public figure, asking his listeners to guess “what country do you think this guy is the president of?”

The big surprise is that the quotes – encompassing such topics as European rejection of “Christian values that underlie Western civilization,” the pursuit of policies that “put large families and same-sex partnerships in the same category” and “excesses of political correctness” – are from Russian president Vladimir Putin, who has escalated his crackdown on LGBT people in recent months.

“Who is it?” Fischer asked. “Which president is the lion of Christianity, the defender of Christian values, the president that’s calling his nation back to embracing its identity as a nation founded on Christian values? Those, ladies and gentlemen, are quotes from Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia.”

The contrast between that president and our president could not possibly be more striking,” Fischer continued. “Just a bizarre day. To ever think we would get to the day that Russia would be more advanced spiritually than the United States. I mean, it’s just staggering to see what is happening to this country.”… [emphasis added]

Russia clearly demonstrated that Russia has a Republican Regime. They are not even sufficiently competent to keep the "eternal flame" burning.

Note that by addressing the Duma a private citizen lobbied a foreign government against US interests.  That is a violation of the Logan Act, and therefore a chargeable act of Sedition against the United States.

These Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians are not Christians.  Authentic Christians, who do not see Christianity as a vehicle to promote Republican hatred, should not be painted with the same brush, and I am not doing so.  In the same way, not all Republicans are hate mongers, but almost all hate mongers are Republicans, because the Party put out the welcome mat for them.

Needless to say, prominent Republican legislators are actively supporting this crime.

  1. Love the 'toon, Cat Man….so appropriate for the Rethug/Fascist/Fundy/Bagger Logo.

Ol' Vlad is not a Rethuglicant….He is is fascist…that is why they (GOPukes) just love them some Putie-Tang. Always remember, Vlad is (ex–yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiight, ex my ass crack) KGB and, therefore, will always be hardline on 'traditional' Russian 'values'….you know, like say….suppression, torture, 'disappearing' dissedents (sp), poisoning those the state finds disagreeable, etc, etc, so on and so forth. The usual everyday fare in the USSR…er…uh….Russia. The only thing changed from the old regime to the new is not the Totalitarianism but the branding of such….Communism and Fascism are one in the same when seen from the State's view. Business (corruption) plus the State (more corruption) combined and controlled by the 'corporate'/Polit Bureau (sp) is one in the same thing…the people loose. I know I am over simplifying the isms but just trying to show how nothing has changed in Russia, only the players/presentation and Putie-Tang is old school KGB and has never, and will never, change.

Just my lil ol' 2/100ths on this Bagger drivel.

  2. I would dearly love to see Bryan Brown charged under the Logan Act.  What he did is illegal for an American citizen and there is no reason this bigoted fool should be exempt.  Calling Eric Holder?  This would make for a fun trial.  Well, I'd certainly enjoy it anyway.

    • So wouls I.  The reason I doubt it will happen is that Obama does not want to give Republicans an excuse to trot out their "Muslim President declartes war on Christianoty" meme.  Where is is mistaken is that Republicans will trot it out anyway.

    You said it TC!

  4. Great Cartoon, hey they are entilted to their Point of View:mrgreen:

  5. Pardon me while I stick my finger down my throat.  Russia is our new Christian leader?  These people don't just suffer from homophobia, they are seriously insane, and have never read the New Testament.

  6. ". . . To ever think we would get to the day that Russia would be more advanced spiritually than the United States. I mean, it’s just staggering to see what is happening to this country.” . . . Fischer has not yet commented on reports that Putin’s increasing embrace of a theological hard line has also threatened the religious freedom of evangelical Christians. "

Under communism, the Bolsheviks declared a separation of church and state and the church lost power until 1943.  At that time, religion was again encouraged as a means to rally the people against Nazi Germany.  But following 1957, the church was often personna non grata, shuttered, without an official voice in Russia, although there were still people who clung to the Russian Orthodox Chuch.  Check out Wikipedia on this up and down relationship of church and state in Russia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Orthodox_Church .

To me, it is obvious that Fischer knows nothing of the history of the church in Russia during modern times. Otherwise, he would not be saying that Russia is "more advanced spiritually" than the US.  What is apparent to me is that Russia has learned to use the Church to advance its causes.

I think that Fischer thinks that if it walks like a duck and quacks, it must be a duck, but he just may have uncovered a goose.  And that goose is not laying a golden egg that the right wing evangelical pseudo Christians would like to possess.

As to Bryan Brown, he should be charged and tried under the Logan Act.  Only the penalty in my mind, given the seriousness of stiring up hatred for the LGBT community, should be more than 3 years.

"Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."
