Republicans aren’t talking about about repealing ObamaCare any more. It appears that is no longer the current reason for the shut down. Now their widdle feelings are hurt, because their temper tantrum has not gotten them what they could earn in Congress, couldn’t win in 2012, and couldn’t get from the Republican dominated Supreme Court. They think they’re getting no respect.
The great government shutdown of 2013 is about Obamacare and budget priorities, but it also is about respect.
In short, conservative House Republicans don’t think they get enough of it from President Barack Obama and the Senate.
"Republicans are now in a position where they don’t want to cave in because it sets a bad precedent that the Senate would be somewhat dictating how the House runs," GOP Rep. Michael Grimm of New York said this week.
Conservative Rep. Marlin Stutzman of Indiana went further, telling the Washington Examiner that "we’re not going to be disrespected."
"We have to get something out of this," he said. "And I don’t know what that even is."… [emphasis added]

Rachel Maddow shows from history and from today how Republican whining shows just how thoroughly incompetent they are.

Unfortunately for Rabin, Israel has Republican equivalents back then. The biggest mistake was not to Newter Newt in 1995. What hubris to think he deserved to be included with three Presidents. This shutdown is all about a Republican tantrum that voters rejected them in 2012. Just like Barney Frank said then, Republicans are punishing the country. They don’t knows what it is, but they have to get something
Earth to Republicans! Earth to Republicans!! Hello? Is there anyone under those tin-foil hats? The CR is NOT about respect for you. It’s about the respect millions you are harming. You have already received far more respect than you deserve, but if you want even MORE respect, EARN it! Stop the terrorism, respect the American people, pass a clean CR, and agree to pay for what YOU already spent.

LOL! Out f the mouths of babes "We have to get something out of this," he said. "And I don’t know what that even is.": Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Indiana). Maybe Indiana wants you, but the rest of America needs real help!
I liked Pres. Obama's reply to this stupid statement from Rep. Stutzman:
At an event in Rockville, Md., Obama repeated Stutzman's quote as the audience laughed.
"Think about that. You have already gotten the opportunity to serve the American people. There's no higher honor than that," Obama said. "So the American people aren't in the mood to give you a goodie bag to go with it."

Amen, Yvonne!
Aw, the poor widdle Republicans get no respect….they might if they earned any…
That wont happen as long as they keep sucking Koch.
This shutdown is hurting Veterans via funding for programs to assist homeless and hungry Veterans… Republicans and Tea Party members are disgraceful…
Good point, Richard.
Hopefully, the voters will pay them back for the "ShutStorm of 2013" like they did before and vote them all out of office.
Amen, Patty!
This just PROVES how DUMB the Teahadist rethuglicans are …
Just this morning the House unanimously approved by a 407-0 vote to give the 800,000 furloughed government employees backpay via the Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act.
If you're going to pay them anyway, WHY THE HELL don't end the shutdown and get some WORK out of them?
Because they don't know "what that even is" They are idiots.
Shame on you Nameless! You KNOW that rational thought is forbidden in the Republican Code of Conduct
I love these comments – so very true!
I agree with Rachel Maddow. Shutting down the government was the goal, not the result of failed negotiations. They did it just because they could, with no thought of what came afterwards. It's an example of "Be afraid of us, see how far we're willing to go to get what we want." This is what they've been after all along.
What that translates to is an attempt to change the structure of government and negate the legitimacy of elections. The Germans have a nice, concise term for what the baggers are trying, it's called a "putsch." Anyone not familiar with the term, please look it up.
There is no way that Obama and the rest of the Democrats can afford to concede to even a single demand of these fanatics – not one!
I totally agree with you.
The Germans had a nice, concise term for what Republicans are tgrying to create: a Reich!
One of the CNN commentators had a hostage negotiator on her panel today, explaining how to deal with a hostage situtation, and relating the shutdown to just that. This is what has become of the House, it is a haven for terrorists who are holding the country hostage, and they don't even know what they want, they just want to prove that they can.
That seems to be what it's devolved into becoming.
Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R – IN)
Where was the Republicanus/Teabagger respect for women and children when they shutdown the additional aid of the WIC programme?
Where was the Republicanus/Teabagger respect for veterans who are left without support and benefits?
Where was the Republicanus/Teabagger respect for veterans who desparately need assistance but can't get it because the bureaucracy to assess their applications is shutdown.
Where was the Republicanus/Teabagger respect for police and fire persons in Washington, DC when there were no funds to keep these essential services up and running courtesy of the shutdown?
Where was the Republicanus/Teabagger respect for the elderly when they shutdown the Meals on Wheels programme, a vital service to many elderly people?
Where was the Republicanus/Teabagger respect for children when they shutdown Head Start?
You can keep adding to the list.
To paraphrase John Housemen from a 1979 Smith Barney commercial:
It is about time that the Republicanus/Teabaggers started to respect the American people, ALL the people and do the work they were elected to do rather than whine and carry on like a bunch of over paid nit-wits. The Republicanus/Teabaggers need to learn that respect is earned. They have not earned the respect of the American people.
It seems that the Republicanus/Teabaggers have trouble with the concept of respect and their own self-importance. As Newty whined in 1995, he was disrespected by President Clinton when Newty and Bob Dole were asked to exit Air Force One by the rear door. So what did he do? As he says, he shutdown the government.
Going back to Stutzman (R – IN) again: "… We have to get something out of this…."
What the hell do you want? You're already getting a paycheque which is better than 800,000 federal employees are getting. And in my estimation, you did not earn that either.
Show respect for Republicanus/Teabaggers in 2014 and 2016 by putting all of them in the unemployment lines. Maybe then they'll learn about respect.
They have none!
They have none!!
They have none!!!
They have none!!!!
They have none!!!!!
They have none!!!!!!
The answer will remain the same.
Amen to everything else!
I just noticed that Rixar got the Big Mouth award. Congratulations!
Indeed he did. It will be posted as soon as I finisj replying to comments.
Have the Repugs supporters all had a frontal lobotomy not to listen to this – or perhaps if listening they don't understand what the words mean? Why on earth don't they desert these seditionists in droves? They said two years ago (as you pointed out TC) that it was their INTENTION to shut down the government if elected…. case closed – sedition!
Pat, they can't have a frontal lobotomy for the same reason they can't have a coronary.
