Having lived in northern Canada, the longest day can be very long. Even though had I lived even further north the effect would have been greater, where I lived the sun rose between 2 and 3 a.am. and set about midnight. It was never a "pitch black" night. People often played softball until midnight. Of course the winter solstice is the exact opposite where the sun rises between 9:30-10 a.m. and the sun sets by 4 p.m. Talk about extremes.
Happy Litha to all, no matter how you celebrate it!
We eebrated in my neighborhood with our traditional solstice bonfire. This was number 7 for us. We do both winter and summer. Our fire master is the best. His bonfire engineering is outstanding!
Happy Midsummer to you, too, Tom. This is my favorite time of year. One can be outside in the sunshine all day long. Nothing better than that!
Ooh – this is working for once! Right back atcha TC!
Had to look up "Litha" as I did not know nor remember. Happy Litha to All.
