My fathers and grandfathers have long since passed away. But my mother was a single mother, doing the job of two. In my teens, I started recognising my mother for her dual role by getting her a Mother's Day card in May and then a Father's Day card in June. I would also get a card for both occassions from my cat(s). Needless to say, I kept Hallmark's profits up! Unfortunately, while my mother is still alive, she no longer has the ability to comprehend or enjoy a card. I guess though, I'm following in her footsteps — I have no spouse but 3 kids of the meowy variety!
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, and those that stand in as dads.

A day late, but I hope all the Dads and stand-ins had a great day. It was the annual Father's Day picnic at Shane's Uncle Joe's house. A good time was had by all in spite of the rain. Shane & I came in third in the egg toss in the rain.
