At a campaign event yesterday, Barack Obama said that, if your mad at Republicans, the best way to take revenge is to vote, not to boo. Needless to say, Lord Willard has no authentic campaign issues to raise, so he got his panties in a bunch and did some major sniveling over Obama’s statement. So is revenge a valid reason to vote? You betcha!
GOP nominee Mitt Romney began his final weekend campaign blitz in New Hampshire Saturday morning, ripping President Obama for telling supporters that "voting is the best revenge."
"Vote for revenge? Let me tell you: Vote for love of country," Romney said to cheers.
Obama made the remark at a Friday rally after supporters booed Romney. “No, no, no. Don’t boo. Vote,” Obama told a crowd in Springfield, Ohio. “Voting is the best revenge.”
The GOP nominee jumped on the comment later that day, and his campaign released an ad attacking the president for it Saturday morning.
The Obama campaign said Saturday that the president’s comment was made in the context of Romney’s “scare tactics.”…

There are lots of reasons to want revenge against the Republican Party, but first, Martin Bashir discussed Willard’s last minute desperation with a panel.

OK. To all the people, whose right to vote Republicans are trying to take away, get back at them for trying to deprive you of your rights. Vote! To all women, whose health care rights Republicans are trying to take away, get back at them for inserting themselves between your legs. Vote! To Black, Latino and Muslim Americans, who have been a continuous target of Republican racism, get back at them for coming out of hiding to don their sheets and hoods. Vote! To all Americans, whose Social Security and and Medicare have been paid for through years of work and Republicans are trying to destroy, get back at them. Vote! To LGBT Americans whose right Republicans want to deny, get back at them. Vote! For years, Republicans have been lying faster than I can debunk the lies. I got back at them. I voted! I could go on and on pointing to the people that Republicans have harmed through their hate, greed, lies, and lust to abuse power. Get back at them….

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I just want to know one thing. When Mittens said "Vote for love of country," was the country he was talking about China? A vote for MIttens is a vote for Chinese outsourcing and slave labor.
Right on your first guess!
Well one more reason to Vote for President Obama—— Mutt has no sense of humor!! Add that to no ethics, dishonest,, racism , sexism , greed ,
Yep– 'Don't get mad= get even =– works for me– ( And don't forget either)!
Bingo!
It was clearly just an innocent play on the old cliche "Living well is the best revenge."
(But I wish he hadn't said it. It just makes me more nervous than I already am. Wingnuts are jumping on it – but I think it's so late, such a minor thing and on the weekend that it won't get much traction.)
The counter is that Republicans have done so many despicable things this campaign, that a peerson would almost have to be crazy not to be angry.
Romney's always gets his knickers in a twist! Mr Obama could have just said “No, no, no. Don’t boo. Vote Obama/Biden!" or “No, no, no. Don’t boo. Vote straight Democratic!" or "No, no, no. Don't boo. Show him how you feel with your vote!" I am confident that Romney, in his delusions of personal godhood and superiority, would have found something wrong with that as well. I agree with Martin Bashir's guests when they show this act by Romney as an act of desperation.
Romney — "…I found [the comment about revenge] troubling …" — It's funny that Romney didn't find his lying throughout the campaign "troubling"! There certainly was enough of it.
Washington Post Editorial Board — "Through all the flip-flops, there has been one consistency in the campaign of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney: a contempt for the electorate. … Mr Romney … seems to be betting that voters have no memories, poor arithmetic skills and a genereal inability to look behind the curtain. We hope the results Tuesday prove him wrong." — The contempt for the electorate is palpable, and should be the downfall of Romney.
Professor James Peterson "…part of what that revenge is about is Romney's violation of the public trust. …it is very, very difficult to see Mitt Romney as an authentic campaigner or authentic politician … "
TC, I have to highlight your last comment because it is so true and it is not revenge but totally issues related.
Amen!!!!!
Thank you!
No matter what Pres. Obama says, Willard reacts in his usual manner ~ whining and sniveling to his supporters. And they are all too ready to pat him on the back and say :"There, there, little man."
Makes me want to hurl.
Monday is Barf on a Bagger Day! 😉
I did have every intention to vote for Judy Stein, in rebellion, but also knowing that New York was a given (D) – I would have appreciated voting my conscience! I know, I know – Tom C -you insist that O has mentioned "clean" energy ie, clean coal and clean fracking all in an effort to segue to clean energy independence — I don't care for his methods, since I believe they are inspired by the grease of "big oil"!
There are other issues that I would take up as "disappointments" with O.
Since Sandy devastated NY and there may be polls that are inaccessible for several voters, I'll be voting D again – seems my best intentions are always sabotaged by something!! I'm not happy voting this year, the choice is miserable in my estimation!
I'll simply reiterate that as soon as Nov. 7th comes around I'll be working my ass off to get another party's legitimacy! Both parties are owned by the Plutocrats, and their policies reflect it! I swore I'd work to get O re-elected, but couldn't get myself to do it, in spite of the dire consequences of a willie white house — the very thought is a bit more than terrifying!
PS – I too loved your articulation at the end of the blog, all very true!
Lee, I think you're making the right decision, but I'm not sure of your reasoning on Obama's energy policy. Green energy has the capacity to meet only a very small portion of US energy needs, so we need to invest in developing it. However, until we can develop it sufficiently to wean us off fossil and nuclear fission energy, we need to continue some of the practices we hate.
