Yesterday was the coolest forecast of the heat wave, and the temperature in my apartment dropped below 90° a little after midnight, so I’m pretty pooped. I actually have three articles today, but I will not have time to distribute the links before tomorrow, because of today’s medical appointment. I’m current with replies, albeit very briefly. Tomorrow I have to stay home, because my Medicare Advantage company is visiting for my annual O2 check.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:17 (average 4:54). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From MoveOn: All Men Are Created Equal. Except For One Of These Twins, Apparently.
I was happy to see the recurring theme last night at the DNC that marrying whomever you love is a basic human right.
From Bloomberg: BP Plc (BP/), the owner of the Macondo well that caused the worst U.S. oil spill two years ago, declined in London after the Department of Justice reiterated it will pursue charges of gross negligence in the case.
Good! It’s sad the wheels of justice move so slowly!
From Boston Globe: Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren will be looking to boost her campaign with a speech to the Democratic National Convention.
Warren is scheduled to be among those speaking to the delegates on Wednesday night. The Harvard Law School professor and consumer advocate is trying to unseat Republican Sen. Scott Brown, who won a special election to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.
Go Warren!!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
3:31 I'm blooming happy with my time.
3:45 And damn, you should be! I took the tape off my hand last night and it is an ugly green/gray, especially in, but by no means limited to the knuckle area. But I think I'm going to have to put the tape back on after I ice it as it is getting quite sore again and swelling again. Even the back of my hand is getting sore but I think that is fatigue from the fingers being taped.
4:34 I'm the biggest loser today.
One for Jerry!
Puzzle — 3:45 and fingers not taped but I think I need to go back to taping them after icing them as they are swelling again and sore.
MoveOn — Amen! Here you have two men, twins, David and Paul, raised together and close as many identical twins are. Paul is gay, David is not. How can anyone say that being gay is a learned behaviour? Being gay or being straight, it is just the way the Creator made these two men. Celebrate life!! And just as his brother has chosen a woman to be his life's partner, Paul has a life partner but he can't marry him because of the laws where he lives. It should not matter!!!!!
David: Why are we different now? I can get married. Paul can't. Who you are should have nothing to do with that. It shouldn't matter.
I am very glad that this is coming up at the DNC convention. People matter! People before profits. Let's remember that people drive profits, not the other way around.
Bloomberg — Well it is about bloody time!
Boston Globe — It is dismaying that Warren is currently running behind Brown. Perhaps it is the effect of the RNC convention. He has certainly been doing his fair share of flip flops based on what I saw in the news a while back. And he can say all he wants to his constituents, but based on how the Republican/Teabaggers have goose-stepped in lockstep with each other the past 4 years, what makes his constituents think he can do anything different when it matters? Fools! Go Elizabeth Warren!
Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!
Cartoon — I don't know if they included bands in the parade back then, but it sure appears the milkmen were out in force as well as the crowd!
Beat me.
Exactly my point.
Amen.
He has the proceeds of MAJOR Koch sucking.
LOL!
Marriage equality should be the norm.
To this day, I cannot understand why the responsible parties are not on trial for murder. People made the decision to keep the well open even though it was deemed unsafe. What about the men who were killed during the explosion on that oil well?
I'm hoping that the speech Elizabeth Warren gave at the DNC gave her a boost. She nailed it last night. People remember what she said. I will only highlight this:
"And Mitt Romney? He wants to give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires. But for middle-class families who are hanging on by their fingernails? His plans will hammer them with a new tax hike of up to 2,000 dollars. Mitt Romney wants to give billions in breaks to big corporations—but he and Paul Ryan would pulverize financial reform, voucher-ize Medicare, and vaporize Obamacare.
The Republican vision is clear: "I've got mine, the rest of you are on your own." Republicans say they don't believe in government. Sure they do. They believe in government to help themselves and their powerful friends. After all, Mitt Romney's the guy who said corporations are people.
No, Governor Romney, corporations are not people. People have hearts, they have kids, they get jobs, they get sick, they cry, they dance. They live, they love, and they die. And that matters. That matters because we don't run this country for corporations, we run it for people. And that's why we need Barack Obama."
Obama/Biden in 2012! Four more years!!!
Agree!
Murder requires willful intent.
