Yesterday my COPD was severe, and I got very little sleep last night, so I have only two articles today. I may be late posting and/or distributing links, because I have a fantasy football draft this morning. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow appears routine.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:50 (average 4:35). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From MoveOn: Is Ayn Rand Really The Person Republicans Want To Imitate?
On the surface it seems shocking that a party so fixated on religion would so favor an atheist, but it isn’t really. Rand’s atheism does not conflict with Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christianity. They have bastardized authentic Christianity just as severely as Republican Corporate Plutocracy has bastardized authentic capitalism. They have replaced the altruism of Christ with the greed and legalism of the Pharisees and Sadducees, and traded in Jesus’ love for hate.
From NY Times: Emerging economic powers China and India are heavily investing in educating the world’s future workers while we squabble about punishing teachers and coddling children.
This week, the Center for American Progress and the Center for the Next Generation released a report entitled “The Race That Really Matters: Comparing U.S., Chinese and Indian Investments in the Next Generation Workforce.” The findings were breathtaking.
I could not do an article on this piece without taking the whole thing, which raises © issues. Click through, please.
From TPM: As he often does, Donald Trump tweeted about his ongoing conspiracy theories regarding President Obama’s birth certificate on Friday. In an awkward case of bad timing, however, it came right as Mitt Romney joked about the issue, prompting criticism from the Obama camapign [sic] over Romneys’ refusal to condemn birther supporters.
What TPM suggests was bad timing, I suggest was planned timing.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Being a Dr. Seuss fan, this is just TOO funny not to share:

And a very enjoyable graphic of it:

Excellent Nameless! Excellent!!!!!
Love it!
The real conundrum here is….Why does the square peg (Rand) want to fit in with the round holes?
Why the Brooklyn Bridge?
Perhaps because he's dishonest.
Yokels being so stupid that they would buy the Brooklyn Bride has been a popular meme fore many years.
Puzzle — 3:22 Hoo! Hoo!
MoveOn — "It [love your neighbour type love] is immoral if it is allowed to be placed above oneself." — I hope I heard her correctly. Obviously she hasn't heard that the first will be last, and the last will be first! But then neither have the Republican/Teabaggers.
"They have replaced the altruism of Christ with the greed and legalism of the Pharisees and Sadducees, and traded in Jesus’ love for hate." — TC — AMEN!!!!!
NY Times — "…that of the world’s five billion people over 15 years old, three billion said they worked or wanted to work, but there are only 1.2 billion full-time, formal jobs.2 billion full-time, formal jobs." — This is a scary statistic that should make politicians, and people in general, crap their drawers! When you add to this the propensity of the so-called 'job creators' to create jobs overseas, otherwise known as off-shoring, the US will not enough of these 1.2 billion jobs to satisfy US workers.
Twenty years ago, I took some intensive management training. After some 360 reviews, 'delegation' was identified as a weakness of mine. Upon thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that delegating work, but being available to coach and mentor, was an investment in the staff and their future. Believe me, the training I was taking centred on making more time available to me to do other things, and made no mention of investment in people.
If there is no investment in kids now — pre-school, school lunches, scholastic expectations, good teachers etc — there will be no future for them.
TPM — Rmoney and Trump — a waste of good air! To this very issue, I posted this comment on another site.
There was a time when having a 'white sale' meant having a linens sale. It did not mean selling 'whites' into slavery! It didn't meaning selling anyone of any race into slavery. But it appears that Rmoney has changed that! He has little support in any group other than 'whites' but he is selling all his supporters, no matter what race, into Republican/Teabagger slavery! Or would it be accurate to say that they are buying his 'bright white' ideology hook, line and sinker?!?
This birther crap, this thinly veiled discriminatory rhetoric has no place in a civil society, but especially has no place in the beliefs and thinking of one who proposes to be the chief executive of a large country. If he thinks like this at home, what will he do on the international stage? Just like he flopped magnificently on his recent overseas trip, he will find that he will go down in spectacular flames overseas.
Bullies on the playground eventually get their asses kicked!
Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!
Cartoon — Thank goodness I don't buy their crap, because not only could I not afford it, it wouldn't fit in my living room even if they sold it to me at bargain basement prices. On the other hand, I think the Republican/Teabaggers will need it to get over their troubled waters!
4:10 I'm not even close, but I don't give a hoot!
Clobbered Jerry and I. Are you Patty Proof?
Thank you.
It's outright racism.
LOL!
Will someone PLEASE tell the Donald to STFU? I'm sick of hearing from the arrogant bastard.
I would, but my words would get lost in the hair ball!
I only had time to read part of the report from the Center for American Progress, what I read tells me we are in trouble. Our government is making it harder for the middle class and poor to get an advanced education. The costs of higher education are beyond the reach of many. Our schools, due to "no child left behind" are teaching our kids for the test. They are not being taught to reason or think. We no longer have civics classes to teach them their fundamental rights and responsibilities as U.S. citizens. Art, music, and languages are gone, too. The "dumbing down" of American is working splendidly.
