Yesterday I returned home late from my echocardiogram. They could not get the resolution they wanted normally, so they injected me with a solution that better reflect the sound waves. Today is my stress test. This is today’s only article. If I am able to catch up on replies before I leave, I will. Tomorrow I have several hours of computer and blog maintenance planned.

Today’s took me 5:36 (average 6:24). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From MoveOn: The One Reagan Quote That Republicans DON’T Talk About
He may be the GOP’s St. Ronnie, but that librul couldn’t be a dog catcher in today’s Republican Party.
From NY Times: Even as the Republican establishment continued to call for Representative Todd Akin of Missouri to drop out of his Senate race because of his comments on rape and abortion, Republicans approved platform language on Tuesday calling for a constitutional amendment outlawing abortion with no explicit exceptions for cases of rape or incest.
The anti-abortion plank, approved by the Republican platform committee Tuesday morning in Tampa, Fla., was similar to the planks Republicans have included in their recent party platforms, which also called for a constitutional ban on abortions. The full convention is set to vote on the party’s platform on Monday.
Romney recently claimed to support rape and incest exceptions. He lied.

The fastest route to totalitarian rule is to allow one party to decide who can vote and who can’t. Kudos to the honest Republican.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Puzzle — 5:05 Kitty nirvana — a whole forest of scratching posts with butterflies and bugs thrown in for further entertainment!
MoveOn — Amazing how far the Republican/Teabaggers have fallen from their sainted Ronnie! I wonder if Mr Obama's speech writer watched this clip of Reagan as his words are almost the same?
NY Times — A constitutional ban on abortion? I smell a revolution coming and the ego centric Republican/Teabagger men won't be happy! Screw with a woman's rights and you won't like the results. No self respecting woman would vote for a Republican/Teabagger, and remember, women make up over 50% of the population. Rmoney . . . lie? No, say it isn't true. Lying is the skill at which he is most adept!
MSNBC — In thinking about this, I thought back to all the rhetoric of the Cold War — of the American denouncement of totalitarian régimes and the lack of freedom. And what is going on in the US today? The very same suppression of rights and freedoms. It isn't called communism, but it is fascism. Fascism with a twist of theocracy for added flavour.
Cartoon — Only 110 years ago! Look how far technology has come! Look how far people have not come!
A few days ago you said you were wondering what Paul Ryan's historical stand has been on abortion. (As usual, with Mitt it's a Multiple Choice.)
I learned that even from his first run for Congress back in 1998, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Ryan opposed ALL abortions … except "cases in which a doctor deems an abortion necessary to save the mother's life."

(And the one below provides a Link to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel actual report – BUT it's only as a Word Document:)

Excellent links!
Thanks Nameless!
From the first link —
"Aides to Mr. Romney have been particularly angry about that last charge, since Mr. Romney has said explicitly that he supports rape and incest exceptions. Independent fact checkers have said that charge is false."
How in tarnation would anyone, including Rmoney, know what he supports! He flip-flops so often, even on the same day, that even his staff can't keep track.
Beat me!
I tend to doubt it. Most Republicans would have said the same, when Reagan said it.
Perhaps they should follow the example of Lysistrata.
Many of the practices for which we condemned the USSR in my youth are now Republican mainstays.
Ironic indeed.
4:18 Dirt roads don't slow me down.
Ex-cell-ent!!!!! And your dog has all he space he needs to pee!
4:22 And I thought I'd walk away with this one. You got me, Jerry!
Last again!
Ban abortion? Why stop there? Next they will want to repeal the Nineteenth Amendment. After all, women voting was not the founding fathers original intent.
That's probably next in line for the voter suppression laws.
The 14th too!
Looked all over for the story on this:

Anyone know the story and link?
thanks, Jim.
Welcome Jim. 🙂
