I finally got some sleep, but I still am quite tired. I’m not covering the Akin story, because Nameless did so in yesterday’s Open Thread. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow and Wednesday I have an echocardiogram, and a cardiac stress test, so I doubt I will have more that an Open Thread, if that.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:22 (average 5:05). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From MoveOn: BEST Song Line Of The Day: ‘I’m Mitt Romney, Let’s Go Party’
Lets make that a sour grapes party.
From Washington Post: President Obama’s Chicago team is not thrilled with Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, according to a new ebook from Politico’s Glenn Thrush. He writes that the Florida House member “grated on Chicago” from the start and Obama aides thought she “struck too harsh a partisan tone” on Sunday shows. The campaign stopped scheduling her for so many TV appearances, and when she asked why, Obama staffers showed her a focus group study on Obama surrogates’ effectiveness. She ranked last.
Personally, I like her and think an even harsher partisan tone is in order. This may not be the case, but it’s easy to lead a focus group by the noise.
From CNN: Prominent Democrats were added to the speakers list for the upcoming Democratic National Convention Monday, two weeks before the gathering convenes in Charlotte.
Added Monday were Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who served as President Barack Obama’s chief of staff for the first two years of his presidency; Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, who won the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination; Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, chair of the Democratic Governors Association, and former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, who acted as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee and is running for U.S. Senate.
The only one I dislike is Rahmbo,

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:34 Not a blooming performance.
5:31 Who said "There are risks to climbing higher in a tree, but there's a better view."? Not this tree!
3:42 Please stop throwing all those flowers at me. I really don't deserve all the accolades.
PFFFFT! :-p
Agree with you mostly, TC, except for Rahm. He is a good man with lots of spunk. The others are good, but Rahm has fire in his belly.
I like his spunk too, but he is the one who advised Obama toward Geithner and Bernanke.
Sorry TC, used the wrong email address on a couple of comments.
No problem. I approved them as soon as I saw them. 🙂
Being the good Samaritans that we Liberals are, I think we can help Todd Akin out a bit – with just some minor revisions to his idiotic words. Here's what Akin said:
The New & Improved Todd Akin, thanks to the help of us Liberals:
Nameless, I want to steal that quote, so funny!
ROTFLMAO!! 😀
"From MoveOn: BEST Song Line Of The Day: ‘I’m Mitt Romney, Let’s Go Party’" Great commercial which would have been a bit better with initial dog was in a cage on the car… 🙂
Good thinking!
I agree with you, Tom, about Debbie W. S. She is, as far as I am concerned, sacrosanct in the party. She battled cancer silently while working tirelessly on the Obama campaign the first time around. This is the thanks she gets? Well, obviously the Obama staffers don't realize how well Debbie resonates with women. And they sound damned ungrateful. Most Dems would like to see a more strident Dem. tone. Too often, Dems roll over and play dead in the face of right wing hatefulness. It is a source of constant frustration to Dem voters. Strident? Hell yes, we should all be strident when confronted with right wing views on degrading women and the poor, the elderly, the infirm.
Angie, that reflects my thinking.
Puzzle — 5:31 Not my kind of tree!
MoveOn — Amusing! I wonder how amused Rmoney is with all the parodies etc that are being made of him and his situation? He doesn't seem like one who has much of a sense of humour!
Washington Post — In the beginning, Mr Obama was trying to be collegial in his approach but the Republican/Teabaggers had a different definition of collegial and obstructed him all the way. Unfortunately, I think he waited too long to to fight back. Wasserman Shultz I think was more perceptive about the aims of the Republican/Teabaggers and was therefore more partisan. I didn't often see Wasserman Schultz but my sense is that she was more in tune with what was going on between the parties.
CNN — It will be interesting to see what happens at both up coming conventions.
Cartoon — Isn't this the one for 'legitimate' rape? For all else it is abstention isn't it?
I guess not.
I suspect that he has no sense of humor.
Excellent observation.
Naw. That one's for hanky panky. 😉
In Rmoney's world, there are no poor people. There are only the rich and their servants who are slaves.
Too bad they feel that way about Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I thought she was very effective because of the firebrand she is.
I don't care much for Rahm either but the people seem to like him.
Akin needs to be removed from the House Science committee NOW!
Remove Todd Akin From the House Science Committee — petition sponsored by the DCCC on Care2

Patty, and anyone else for that matter, here is a petition link to have the charlatan removed from the House science committee. You don't need to be a Care2 member to sign as far as I know.
True. Only the rich matter.
Me too.
Ir won't happen because they agree with Akin. He embarrassed ny accurately reflecting them.
