The best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go awry, and yesterday I could not sleep due to coughing and leg pain.  I also felt just too tired to sleep, which is very frustrating.  So I’m going to put off distributing links one more day, since I have a grocery delivery coming later this morning, but I have this and one other article today, and I am current with replies.  Lets keep our fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:12 (average 4:57).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: The Powerful Story Of What Mitt Romney’s Company Did To One Family

When this ad was first aired, Republicans claimed that the Obama campaign had wrongfully accused Romney of murdering this man’s wife. That is another Republican lie. The ad says the opposite, claiming Romney was not aware. That is not murder. Romney had no intent to murder her. His only intent was profit.  Romney killed her in the same way you or I kill an ant on the sidewalk. The man’s wife was not important enough to Romney for him to even know she was there, just like you, me, or 99% of us.

From NY Times: President Obama took on the budget proposals of Mitt Romney and Representative Paul D. Ryan on Saturday, accusing the Republican ticket of seeking to cut trillions of dollars in taxes for the wealthy while raising taxes for the middle class and making deep cuts to programs that would benefit working Americans.

I’ll let Obama comment for me.

From San Francisco Chronicle: Tight school budgets have meant fewer teachers, larger classes and shorter school years, according to a White House report that President Obama says shows the need for Congress to pass his proposals to help states reduce teacher layoffs.

The study concluded that 300,000 education jobs have been lost since the official end of the recession in 2009 and that student-to-teacher ratios have increased by 4.6 percent from 2008 to 2010 and are on track to grow more.

Republicans do not like public education. Learning how to think interferes with goose-stepping.

  1. 3:38  I managed to miss most of the cow pies.  Hopefully Lynn or Patty will not throw one at me.

  2. Puzzle — 3:16  No cow pies for me!  I had the distinct misfortune to be pushed by two brothers, Roger and Terry Fink, into a very fresh, very large cow pie while at day camp when the temperature was  35 C.  I had on my very first (and last) brand new pair of white shorts when I landed squarely in the middle of the cow pie.  It oozed absolutely everywhere.  Nobody would help me to scrape it off so I had to go into the bushes and strip, hanging my shorts on a tree and trying to clean them using a stick as a scraper.  Finally, one of the counsellors took me down to the river where I was able to get wet and at least get the major part off of me.  If you think blueberry pie stains, try fresh cow pie!  That was almost 50 years ago and I remember it like yesterday!

MoveOn — First of all, all this does is highlight one of Rmoney's two goals in life — greed!  Greed over compassion.  There is clearly no attempt to blame Rmoney for the woman's death.  Second, this ad was not endorsed by any candidate but was paid for by Priorities USA Action.  For Republicans to say that the Obama campaign was accusing Rmoney of murder is just plain ludicrous and shows the depth of their desperation.

NY Times — The cheering certainly speaks for itself!  I was watching a segment of a Rachel Maddow Show I think (or The Ed Show) where there was a tape of Rmoney speaking.  He was soundly booed over budget and health care, and one man stood up and ripped the Rmoney sign he had into much smaller pieces.  He and many others were not impressed with Rmoney.  I wonder how well this spoiled brat named Rmoney takes rejection?!

San Francisco Chronicle — A sound education is the life blood of every nation, an investment in the future.  Republican/Teabaggers are only interested in the short term profits and can't see the investment potential.

Cartoon — One of several days that shall live in infamy.  He changed the world.  Unfortunately, some of what he stood for resembles some of what Rmoney stands for.

    • Good one!  See my reply to Jerry.

Lynn, I strongly suspect that there is illegal communication between the campaigns and the PACS on both sides of the aisle.

I saw that.  I suggest that he buys acceptance.

      Amen!

1% have has fascist leanings for a long long time.

  3. I'm looking forward to your Post on comments from my fellow "Show Me" state right-wingnut Repubican candidate, Todd Akin, claiming that women who are victims of "LEGITIMATE RAPE" do NOT get pregnant because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

The mind boggles at such utter idiocy, which is why I included two Links.  I didn't think anyone would believe such crap with just one.

    • Slipped my mind.
Let's not forget that Todd "Asshat" Akin and Paul Ryan are Co-Sponsors of a bill to re-define what constitutes "forcible rape" .
This can NOT be pleasing to little Eddie Munster
      http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/08/todd-akin-paul-ryan-redefining-rape

    • “First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare,” Akin told KTVI-TV in an interview posted Sunday. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Akin said that even in the worst-case scenario — when the supposed natural protections against unwanted pregnancy fail — …

This guy has no business being in the House or the Senate.  I think this is an example of the most backwoods thinking I have ever seen!  I hope this guy doesn't have any kids because if the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, they are doomed.

And then further along in Think Progress, this little gem:

The Romney campaign releases a statement:  “Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan disagree with Mr. Akin’s statement, and a Romney-Ryan administration would not oppose abortion in instances of rape.”

Don't I remember Rmoney saying no to abortion in all cases?  I could be wrong there.

Great one Nameless.  My condolences to you and the people of Missouri who have to put up with this wack job!

    • I probably would have covered this, but you did it so well.    He's trying to say he 'misspoke'.  Anyone who saw the clip and believes that is a moron, a Faux Noise viewer, or most lilely, both.

  4. Missed you on Care 2.  Glad you are ok.  Edie
