No single individual is more responsible for the dirty politics that has become Republican SOP for years, than Karl Rove. If a dirty trick is unprincipled, sleazy, unethical, diabolical and/or illegal. You can bet your butt that Karl Rove thought of it. One such questionable act is calling Crossroads GPS a charitable Organization.
The lawyer for President Obama demanded on Tuesday that Crossroads GPS [Rove rats delinked] disclose its donors, saying in a complaint to the Federal Election Commission that the group is plainly a “political committee” subject to federal reporting requirements.
In the complaint, obtained by The New York Times, Robert F. Bauer, the campaign’s chief counsel, writes that the group — founded by Karl Rove, among others — can no longer shield the identity of its donors by defining itself as a “social welfare” organization.
“Crossroads seems to believe that it can run out the clock and spend massive sums of money in this election without accounting for a trace of its funding,” Mr. Bauer wrote in the complaint, filed Tuesday. “Now, a federal appellate court has issued a ruling that makes clear that Crossroads is out of time.”
The case Mr. Bauer cites is “Real Truth About Obama v. FEC,” in which the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled that the government must determine the “major purpose” of groups like Crossroads.
In a letter to Mr. Rove and Steven Law, the president of Crossroads, Mr. Bauer urges them to immediately disclose their donors…
Inserted from <NY Times>
Rove’s donors fear disclosure, because they fear retribution from disgruntled customers, who would withhold their patronage, if they knew their patronage helps to support Rove’s swill. However, the FEC can take no action unless at least one of the Republican members agrees..

"No single individual is more responsible for the dirty politics that has become Republican SOP for years, than Karl Rove."
I've watched this Karl Rove Rat for years and call out the FEC to do their job…
If only!
Rove and the rest of the rats fear daylight–the more they scream- the more light is indicated
Let there be floodlights!
" However, the FEC can take no action unless at least one of the Republican members agrees." . . . unless one of the Republican members agrees? This seems like a commission that doesn't have any teeth! All bark, and no bite!
We all know that a snowball has a better chance in hell than one Republican member of the FEC agreeing to take action with the other members.
Clearly, some laws need to be changed to be fair to ALL.
It used to work just fine, until Republicans decided that doing one's job takes a back seat to Reich building.
Can we find one honest RepublicanT on the commission? I sincerely doubt it.
Nope!
