Yesterday laundry wore me out, and I still have more to do.  Yuck!  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow I have to work on planning the meeting for Tuesday’s volunteer work in prison.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:26 (average 5:17).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Virtually all Republican initiatives are titled to imply the exact opposite of their actual effect.

From The Hill: President Obama taped a surprise video message for activists attending the progressive Netroots Nation conference, telling them that "change is hard, but we’ve seen it’s possible."

We need to consider Obama’s many accomplishments, and the horrific conditions under which he made them.

From Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Despite a stinging defeat days earlier, Wisconsin Democrats pledged at their annual convention to hold fast to their party’s values, or as U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin put it, to "fight for fairness."

The Madison congresswoman has Democrats hoping that Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s decisive victory in Tuesday’s recall election can, in some measure, be avenged. Baldwin and four Republicans are seeking to claim the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Herb Kohl.

"I’m asking you to keep fighting so that people who work hard, play by the rules, can once again get ahead rather than falling behind," Baldwin said Friday, on the first day of the two-day convention.

Kudos to the Democrats of Fitzwalker$tan for their courage. The Fartfuhrer’s multi-billionaire barrage could be disheartening, and they are doing us proud.

  1. 3:12  Is there a 2 minute rule?

  2. MoveOn — What would the US look like if the ‘freedom of association’ as contained in the Canadian Constitution were cotained in the US Constitution?  For those that think freedom of association is the same as freedom of assembly, it isn’t.  Freedom of association is the right to form unions and bargain collectively.  That doesn’t mean that the Canadian freedom of associations is perfect — far from it.  Our present government has tabled legislstion to return CP Rail employees to work while negotiators try to hammer out an agreement.  Recently, the same tactic was used with Air Canada pilots.  And it has been done by both Conservative and Liberal federal governments as well as many provincial governments, including provincial NDP (social democrats) governments.

Netroots Nation — All change is difficult whether it be in changing a personal habit that we have held for years, or whether it be running a country of 300+ million people.  As Mr Obama said,  “change is hard, but we’ve seen it’s possible.”

In reading TC’s comment, “We need to consider Obama’s many accomplishments, and the horrific conditions under which he made them.” , if any of us had worked under the same conditions that Mr Obama has been subjected to, we would be suing involved employees with harassment and the employer with failure to provide a harassment free workplace.  Well at least in Canada that is what would be the case.  But politics is not the same as any other job.  In politics, there are differences in ideologies, but those are not classified as harassment.  What I would say is classified as harassment is the unbridled obstruction of the Republican/Teabaggers and their failure to do the job they were elected to do — running the US for the benefit of ALLl Americans, and not just their chosen few, the 1% and corporations, in conjunction with other elected officials (Democrats etc).

Fitzwalkerstan — Keep the faith Fitzwalkerstan Democrats!  The Governor’s chair was the first skirmish, not the last!

Question — I take it that there will be a Republican/Teabagger primary for this seat?  That only makes sense since having 4 GOP candidates would almost guarantee a Democrat win, especially with someone as popular as Baldwin.

Cartoon — It is truly mind blowing when you consider the technological and scientific advances made since WWII.  Breaking the sound barrier was but one, but an imporant one.

    • The primaries are set for August 14, 2012.  And it will probably be Baldwin going against former governor Tommy Thompson (and he was a pretty popular governor).

    • Your Freedom of Association may not be perfect, but it’s a damn sight better than what we have here.

      Bingo!

      Amen!

And to think that I was ten before I ever saw a TV.

      • I was 6 or 7 when I saw my first TV — a big clunky (by today’s standards) Phillips — so that would have been about the same time since you are 4 years older than me.  My brother thought it was ugly and so took blue chalk and tried to change the grey fabric over the speakers to blue.  Mother was not happy with his redecorating!  I saw my first ‘portable’ TV at about 13 years, and my first colour TV when I was 20 years old.  WOW!  What a ride down memory lane!
