Yesterday I hooked up with my barber, at long last, and I’m as shorn as a GOP Sheeple.  I took advantage of feeling better and cooked a big turkey dinner.  I’m current with replies.  Today I shall be mourning the sad fact that the Ellipsoid Orb has set, and except for a brief glimmer in April for the Holy Day of Choosing Acolytes, shall shed no more divine light until late summer. 🙁

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:09 (average 5:29).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: As some Republican leaders wring their hands at the prospect of a drawn-out nominating contest, many of the 10,000 people attending the Conservative Political Action Conference [CPUKE delinked] here did not seem too concerned about that possibility…

…The Republican nominee, it seemed, mattered less in their efforts to mobilize than their intense dislike of President Obama. In dozens of interviews at the conference, which was to end Saturday afternoon, people expressed preferences for Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or, less often, Newt Gingrich or the absent Ron Paul. But every one of them said the same thing, often in the same words: “Anybody but Obama.”

I can appreciate how Republicans want to get rid of Obama, but they take it beyond extreme.  Democrats were most anxious to rid ourselves of the worst President in history, GW Bush, aka Potomac Pinocchio.  However, we were never so desperate to do so that we were willing to sabotage the country.

Did Gutierrez hit it out of the park, or what?

Dang! His screw is so far loose that he’s a … Republican!

I am getting soooo tired of listeneing to the RepublicanTs political drivel. They are each trying to out-conservative the others.

Luis Gitierrez hit the nail right on the head!

Andrew Breitbart really managed to make a spectacle of himself again.

They haven’t done anything to create jobs because it would guarantee that Pres. Obama does not fail.

  2. 4:27  A minute below the average was not good enough…again!

Factcheck.org puts the increase under GWB at 14.7 million, not the 11 million sited by Gitierrez, about half a million more than under Obama.

WRT Walker’s broad-daylight heist of the mortgage settlement funds, like TC, I’d be happy if anyone can find anything that would raise a legal question – but I have my doubts.

The portion of the settlement that was earmarked for state governments is designated as discretionary.  So while we may all agree that it’s highly improper and immoral, does not serve the interests of those who are its intended beneficiaries and 100% contrary to what Walker has been on record as saying is wrong when he campaigned – it’s highly unlikely that it’s illegal.

We oldsters can draw a comparison to the 1998 tobacco settlement that forced the country’s largest tobacco companies to pay $246 billion over the next 25 years to fund public-health initiatives.  Unfortunately, the states have spent most of that money on other things.  In fact, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids estimates that states will only use 1.8 (that’s one POINT eight) percent of it to combat tobacco use this year.

And to top it off, Wisconsin’s Attorney General met privately with Walker to devise this little raid:

[Attorney General] Van Hollen (R-Koch), whose office said he has the legal authority over the money, made the decision “in consultation” with Walker.
  4. Republican leaders wringing their hands?  Now TC, you know very well that Jabber Jowls McConnell said at CPAC that Republicans don’t wring their hands, only Democrats do!

The Food Stamp President — Luis Gutierrez  definitely hit the ball out of the park!  The only problem, it didn’t look like there were many there to see the home run!  Wasn’t it Newty who first called Mr Obama the ‘Food Stamp President’?  Regardless, whoever needs to get their facts straight before spouting off and making an ass of themselves.

Andrew Breitbart — “Behave yourselves.  You’re freaks and animals.  Stop raping people.”

I noticed that he had his fist in the air which means that he had 4 fingers pointing back at himself as he had his melt down.  Somebody better get Breitbart back on his meds before they let him loose again!

Cartoon — Excellent commentary on the GOP job creation strategy!
