Yesterday I went to my barber, who was still out sick. When I returned, I did my research for the day and enjoyed an extra long sleep cycle, because multiple trips up and down the stairs carrying laundry always tires me. I’m current with replies. Today a month’s supply of groceries will be delivered in the late morning. Unpacking and putting it all away will take several hours.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 3:59 (average 4:30). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Truthdig: One of the most overlooked ironies today is that Israel is threatening military action to prevent Iran from continuing the same clandestine route to nuclear weapons that Israel took, just as Israeli planes destroyed nuclear reactors in Syria and Iraq to prevent those countries from following Israel’s lead.
While I support taking steps for keeping Iran from becoming armed with nuclear weapons, I also think that equal measures should be employed against Israel, until Israel gives up their nuclear weapons and submits to IAEA inspections.
From Raw Story: ‘Daily Show’ asks Gov. Rick Scott to take drug test
I bet that if Scott peed in the cup it would be 40 proof.
From Think Progress: Think Progress Green reported that Gov. Mitch Daniels (R-IN), joined the oil industry in lobbying Congress on behalf of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, using taxpayer dollars. Although the proposed pipeline does not go through Indiana, and few, if any, Indiana workers are expected to be employed in its construction, the state’s DC representatives received $66,000 from Indiana taxpayers to lobby Congress in the fourth quarter of 2011.
I would hope that Indiana has a law against the misappropriation of taxpayer funds to pursue a partisan political agenda.

I guess in Israel, what’s good for the goose is not good for the gander. Hardly seems kosher to me.
I agree with you TC but would take it one step further — there is no need for any nation to have nuclear weapons and all countries should submit to IAEA inspections. The City of Vancouver years ago (early 1980’s) declared itself to be a nuclear weapons free zone and any naval vessel with nuclear weapons was barred from entering the Vancouver waters.
The Pee Test — Gov Scott did not look amused when asked to pee in the cup. The state legislator who purportedly said that anyone receiving state funds should have to take a drug test first, looked a little incredulous when asked to take the test. Of course he said no. Gov Scott said that “most welfare recipients” use drugs (can’t recall his exact words) but then tests show that only 2% failed the drug test versus 9% of the general population using drugs. That nicely backfired on that Teabagger.
Indiana — Daniels is riding rather high on the hog now that he runs a right to work state. Guess he feels he can do anything including lobbying for a pipeline with state taxpayer money even when that pipeline holds no direct benefit for his state. Couldn’t the FBI be asked to investigate since the money was crossing state lines? (You can tell I’m not a solicitor and I used to watch too many crime shows!)
Cartoon — Boehner looks like he is 3 sheets to the wind on his favourite scotch! Excuse me if I seem ignorant, but what is 8.3% — his tax rate and it is still too high, or his blood alcohol level and it is still too low!?
Exactly my point.
I agree, but since that’s not likely, the fewer the better.
It certainly did, but he owns a big piece of the company that does the pee tests.
I honest;y don’t know.
Agent Orange is sobbing, because the unemployment rate fell to 8.3%
If Scott owns a big part of the testing lab, they better check and double check results if suddenly the failure rate goes up. If they can cheat with voting machines, they can cheat with pee tests! And I wouldn’t put it past the bastard! Oops, I guess I should be more respectful — Governor Bastard!
I hope he doesn’t read this. 😉
As long as you’re covering Indiana, I suspect you may have more tomorrow on the Breaking story that their Secretary of State, Republican Charlie White, has just been convicted on 6 0f 7 Voter Fraud charges!
Have you noticed that when a rare case of voter fraud actually surfaces, it’s almost always a Republican that did it?
LMAO!!
Oh Nameless, ROTFLMAO at the O’Connor quip! Excellent!
Don’t get me started with Israel, once it allows the IAEA to inspect I’ll be long dead! I’m so sick of Israel dictating US policy – it has led us far astray, it’s no wonder that the entire Mid-East is against both of us, while we don’t even make Israel live up to its agreement with Palestine – I say f ’em – my attitude doesn’t get me far in certain circles in NYC – but they’re all mythologists of the most violent kind anyway so no loss there!
It’s still difficult for my little brain to wrap around the fact that these gov’s can get away with lobbying – I keep thinking it’s reserved for corporations et al – not the pols! Oh well – as you say, there oughta be a law!!!
Well, I have no problem with Israelis being Jewish. I do have a problem with them treating Palestinians the same way they were treated.
I think there is a law. I’m not sure.

I saw the episode when he asked Gov. Scott to pee in the cup. Laughed until I almost peed my pants.
Indiana probably has no law to block RepublicanTs and Tea-buggers from misappropriating taxpayer dollars. You can bet that Dems aren’t allowed to though.
Israel will never submit to an inspection of any kind.
I’m amazed I didn’t come in third.
You should have used a cup. 😉
I’m hoping there is a federal law.
I think you’re right.

Cry me a river, Boner! You can’t even obstruct well. Another republican failure!
I’m a little harder to beat tomorrow.
Amen!
Setting up the Post Office for financial failure was accomplished by Congress passing The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (HR6407)in 2006 in which mandated that the post office fund 75(This is NOT a misprint) years of retire health benefits in 10 years.http://my.firedoglake.com/kaytillow/2011/09/26/whats-the-real-story-behind-the-postal-crisis/ My short video with cats condenses the negative effects that passage of HR2309 would do to Postal Employees.
Welcome Paula.! 🙂
The reason your comment has my avatar is that you posted this to an instruction page on how to use smileys here. That was the wrong place so I reposted it here and substituted your header information for mine. I could not change the avatar.
Thanks and I agree.
