Yesterday our heat was on the fritz so I spent most of the day snoozing in bed.  Because the umpteenth Republican debate on Faux Noise was not worth watching, I didn’t watch it.  I’m current with replies.  Today I still have errands to run.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:05 (average 5:17).  To do it click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From ABC: Supporters of a push to oust Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker from office are prepared to declare victory in their effort to force the Republican into a recall election. But a problem looms for Democrats: They still don’t know who would run against him.

Recall organizers say they have gathered far more than the 540,208 signatures required to force the election against both Walker and GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, and will submit their petitions Tuesday.

Come on people!  Kudos for getting enough signatures. Now it’s time to make a choice!

From Reuters: U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, appearing at a Martin Luther King holiday rally in South Carolina, warned on Monday that voting rights laws are still at risk and said aggressive enforcement of those laws is "a moral imperative."

Right on!  I could not have described it better!

From The Statesman Journal: A former state penitentiary warden who oversaw the last two inmate executions in this state has joined an advocacy group determined to repeal Oregon’s death penalty.

In an interview Friday with the Statesman Journal, Frank Thompson described the death penalty as "a failed public policy."

"In my opinion, capital punishment fails terribly in meeting any evidence-based outcomes," he said.

Hew is certainly in a position to know.  Kudos to Mr. Thompson!

From Raw Story: A speaker told a coalition of tea party groups in South Carolina on Monday that the U.S. could save $260 billion on the border fence if they “force these Mexicans to make $5 a day” to build it.

Here we have Republican support for slavery.

Why have they not chosen someone to un for Gov. of Wisconsin? Is there no one worthy?

    The new Jim Crow laws???

He is definitely in a position to know that the death penalty is unjust.

Coming soon to a neighborhood to you ~ RepublicanT slavery!

    • The reasons that people actively involved with the Wisconsin recall efforts have said for NOT having a nominee is that [1] They didn’t want to dilute or divert their efforts at getting the recall done first; [2] It has forced Walker during the recall time to “run on his record” – not exactly a stellar stand for Scotty to stump on.  Plus I think the fact that Senators Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl have said they are not interested in running has been a concern.

    • Dang Patty!!

      Agree with the remainder.

  2. 4:03  I started to celebrate and then noticed that Patty beat both of us…AGAIN!

  3. Puzzle — Well another 15 seconds over yje average.  I redid yesterdays and dropped the time to 5 seconds over the average.  I’m still no threat to anyone but they sure are fun.

Walker Recall — If, as Nameless says, they wanted to stay focused on the recall and they wanted to force Walker to stand on his record, that’s fine.  But,  there should have been at least one Democratic candidate in the wings waiting for the recall outcome.  What is it, 6 weeks after the recall is certified that the election is held?  That is precious little time.  Come on Democrats, you’ve come this far.  Don’t rollover and play dead now!  I don’t know Russ Feingold but I’ve heard plenty of great things about him.  What would it take to get him to agree to run, I mean legally and morally?  Now that Walker is confirmed recalled, don’t let him back in through default!

Oregon — WOW!  To have a Governor and Thompson who are against the death penalty, I hope that this could lead to abolishment!  Kudos indeed!

The Fence — How about a fence be made to contain the Republican/Teabaggers in one place?  Seems like a better use of money and the fence!  If people listen to the Republican/Teabaggers on anything, they will be taken back in time, pre Civil War!

    Cartoon — That’s 5 too many!

    • Lynn,

We all started out where you are.  If you are starting to hit the average, you are not far behind.  I don’t always beat the average.

    • Jerry is right.

Feingold would be my choice, but he says he will not do so.

I know.  I’m excited about it.

I’m all for building the fence… on the northern border of Texas. 😉

      Thanks!
