Ron Paul is making it a point to repeat that Americans need liberty, free from interference from the big Nanny State. That may be reasonable, except for one thing. Ron Paul is lying, because he has no qualms about having the Big Brother state take the liberty from and trampling the rights of individual Americans.
When GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul was asked today about Tuesday’s federal court ruling upholding an aggressive new sonogram law in his home state of Texas, the congressman said the requirement that women seeking an abortion first get a sonogram “should always have been a Texas state position.’’
“Like Roe v Wade should never have been heard in the Supreme Court,” he said after a midday speech and rally at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at the Eagle Aviation Building .
Paul, who opposes abortion rights, has consistently railed against intrusive Big Brother government when it comes to other issues, especially health care reform. But it’s hard to imagine anything more literally invasive than a required sonogram.
In fact, Dr. Paul’s colleagues in the Texas Medical Association came out against the law last year, saying it “not only sets a dangerous precedent of legislation prescribing the details of the practice of medicine, but it also clearly mandates that physicians practice in a manner inconsistent with medical ethics.”… [emphasis added]

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Ron Paul has lied about liberty. After all, he is a Republican. Furthermore, he is the same Republican bigot who wrote racist articles, defended their content three years after writing them, and recently said he never knew about them until ten years after writing them. He is not fit to hold public office.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I’ve said for a long time that Ron Paul and his son Rand live in an alternate universe and weave in and out of sanity in ours, and this proves it.
This does among many other things.
He is an old fool- was a young fool who became more foolish as he ages– my Grandma was right .. she would say ‘we don’t really change as we get old, we stay the same .. only worse” …. If ever that was illustrated Ron Paul certainly serves well- he is a scary man , his son Rand is worse– because he is young—
What is most worrisome tho- is the number who follow him , and the amount of money he is spending to further his campaign— where is it coming from , btw ,
this is a good article Tom.
Phyllis, I hope you’re wrong here. If not, can you imagine what Rand is going to be like when he reaches Ron’s age? 😉
Thanks!
When I see a Ron Paul supporter touting his libertarian, small government views, I bring up the fact that he’s only talking about men have rights, not women.
This invasive sonogram is so clearly a violation of women, I’m amazed at those who think it’s fine. I think a case could easily be made that this is rape by the state. Of all the stinking, rotten crap the right-wingers are trying to force through legislatures, this is the most egregious. It is clearly a violation of the right to privacy, to be secure in one’s person, etc. etc. They’re breaking how many Contitutional Amendments?
Paul is a fraud and I wish those who like his anti-war stance realize that the war he wants to have is against women and minorities. And he wants the federal government to wage it.
Marva, that’s very well said!
Here’s an interview from 1996 in which Paul pretty much admits to having written the newsletters, including the racist parts:

Libertarianism is merely the cutting edge of the conservative twisting of the word “liberty” to exclude anything that doesn’t involve money, and Paul is just as dangerously crazy as Perry or Bachmann.
Thanks Infidel. That’s very similar to the interview he gave the Dallas Morning News in 1995 in which claimed authorship and supported the content.
I used to respect Dr. Paul, years ago, before I started digging out info on my own. This old nutjob needs to retire to his own little universe permanantly and take his equally insane son with him. They are liars, haters and only care about the rich, white, males…those are the only persons who have ‘liberty and freedom’ in Paul’s world. The only thing I agree with in his spewings is his stand on the military and bases. That’s it. Everything else about him and his policies are backwards and dangerous for women and minorities.
Terrie, I agree, but there’s a hey difference between your pacifism and Paul’s isolationism.
So his college’s think he is a moron! Now if we could just get the rest of the republicans to get it through their thick heads!
His supporters are much like the followers of Jim Jones.
Ugh darned spell check! I meant colleagues!!!!!!
When I compare it, I see far more hypocrisy ranging into treason among the liberals than with Paul or Cain, though I would prefer to see both Dummycrats and Repulsivans kicked to the kerb and real Constitution Party or Libertarian representatives take over to restore our republic.
Fred, look up the definition of treason in the Constitution.
Don’t trust this man, he might be “good” in the opposition , but never let him have real power, because then it’s too late. He’s manipulative and lying.
Welcome Monka. 🙂
You understand him far better than many Americans. Kudos.
Thanks to NARAL, this atrocity was outed and petitions were signed and filed against its implication last August. We thought that that would take care of this rape of women, because that is what it is, but now it appears we were wrong. I believe that for every woman forced to undergo this perverted screening, that a Republican male congress critter, starting with Rick Perry, since it originated from his camp, undergo a similar procedure at the same time in an adjacent examining room for the entire length it takes to so this procedure on women. For those who do not know, this procedure last from 25-30 minutes of a vaginal probe being manipulated inside of the woman as the test is ongoing. Since we know the male of the species does not have all of the “equipment” that women do, you can use your imagination as to just what part of their body that probe will be probing. If a man had to go through this one time, it would be ended before it was started. Ron Paul can be second in line for testing.
Also, the women forced to have this procedure done to them, even against their wishes, will be responsible for all costs. So much for womens freedom, which according to Janis Joplin’s song ” Me and Bobby McGee”, freedom’s just another word for nothin left to loose. We know the insurance companies will also find a way not to pay for this test, as they are good at denial. As this is government mandated test, government should bear all the cost for all of these unnecessary tests and delays of allowing a women the legal right she is supposed to have to this LEGAL procedure. Something they seem to have forgotten.
I have read comments from many women on several different sites who think that this is normal, okay, a standard part of pre-op testing before an abortion. Maybe very recently, but not in all the years since Roe V Wade became law have I ever heard of this as being routine. I worked in the medical field most of my life until I retired and it wasn’t heard of then either. I also find it scary that so many women are not raising their voices to this truly invasive procedure and consider it a total violation of women everywhere.
What’s next ? Registration of every woman who becomes pregnant so the government can falsely claim it is monitoring “maternal deaths” from conception to birth, while not providing medical care for pregnant women as Brazil has just signed into law recently ? American women you’re next. Don’t think it can happen here ? Don’t hold your breath, it is on the horizon already the second some zealot from the republican side decides it is time to do the same thing here. I expect it within 2 months.
Women need to see this for what it is. A complete takeover of the uterus’s of all women in America. A repression or oppression of everything women have achieved in the last century. Every right taken away from a woman is a return to the status of property or chattel of a male dominated society, a society where the majority of the people are WOMEN.
Great comment, Deborah! Thank you for describing what is happening and would happen under someone like Paul in such wonderful detail! When I look at Ron Paul I see A Handmaid’s Tale enacted in the real world. If laws can be enacted on what I do with my body it is evident that it is thought that my body belongs to the body politic as much, if not more, than it does to me. It makes my body chattel of the State. I am owned by every other member of the society I live in. Sounds awfully familiar, doesn’t it?
Welcome Bonnie. 🙂
I fully agree!
Welcome back Deborah. You gave us a perspective that no man would have understood. Thank you!
The more I hear about Ron Paul, the more I think he is a certified nut case. How can this man be a doctor? He knows nothing of the hypocratic oath. Then we have his tangled web of lies over the newsletters and his outrageous racist views. The man is a menace to society. It is hard to see what his supporters see in him that they should be cultish about following him. I wonder if he’ll bring out the kool-aid when he doesn’t win the election?
I agree Lynn. I find it very difficult to understand how the the acolytes of his cult are so mesmerized by him.
He & his son are both bordering on the insane.
Bordering on? I’d say they have taken up permanent residence. 😀
Less government interference means all interference then. Ron Paul is doing a double standard in the case of trying to overturn Roe vs. Wade and the abortion issue. This is a personal decision for women and their immediate families and their doctor. No need for others to intervene. Stay out of the family issues – do your job at government, but leave these issues for families to decide.
Welcome Regina. 🙂
I agree. Paul only supports “freedom” when it suits him.
