The first thing I learned about the New Hampshire primary results is that there is a madman living in Dixville Notch.  Shortly after midnight they announced the first vote for Ron Paul.  For the rest of the day there was little suspense, as the results came in as expected.  What is the sure thing is that, anytime a Republican wins anything, you lose.

11NHPrimaryMitt Romney swept to victory in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, turning back a ferocious assault from his Republican rivals who are working to slow his march to the Republican presidential nomination.

As the polls closed here, Mr. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, was projected as the winner, becoming the first Republican candidate since 1976 to win the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. Representative Ron Paul of Texas and former Gov. Jon M. Huntsman Jr. of Utah were battling for second, according to surveys of voters leaving the polls.

Former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker, were trailing their Republican rivals, but already looking ahead to the next battle at the South Carolina primary on Jan. 21…

As long as the there  are multiple candidates dividing the anti-Romney pie, multiple mitt will hold his lead.

SC will prove interesting, because it is one of the prime GOP hate centers.

  1. If there have been 2 primaries, and in that 1st one Mittens received 8  as did Santorum, should not his total delegate count be 13 delegates and not 23?  Or is there something I’m missing?

I would think that Mittens will not do as well in South Carolina as Newty and Santorum, because of the Evangelical component.  However with Newty and Santorum splitting that vote, it might be enough for Mittens to stay ahead.  Perry died in New Hampshire but I don’t think he really expected to do well as at the end of Iowa, he said “South Carolina here I come.”, almost as if he were discounting it.  Perry being another Evangelical, might split that vote even further.  As to Paul, that’s a tough call.  He was 3rd in Iowa and 2nd in New Hampshire.  One thing going in his favour in South Carolina unfortunately, will be his racist views.

God help the US if any of these morons becomes POTUS.

    • It’s up to 25 now.  The total delegate counts also include unpledged RNC delegates.

I would think not, but SC dies hve a strong history of voting for the eventual nominee, so he just may win.

      Amen.

  2. I’m glad to see that NH has it’s head on straight and didn’t come in strong for Sanitarium and I think Perry will drop out after this.  No one seems able to touch Mitts lead which is fine.  If Obama is going to lose to someone, I’d rather it be a moderate like Romney that some kook like Sanitarium.  I think Newtie is gone after this too; who wants a cranky old fucker in the White House?

    • Santorum, Gingrich and Perrey ll want to be the anti Mitt.  They cancel each other out.  Theocons are meeting now to determine an anti Mitt strategy.

  3. Would have liked to have seen Huntsman on top, but at least he fared fairly well.

  4. Romney’s cockiness and his framing of those who oppose his vulture capitalism preferences as playing “the politics of envy” is infuriating and an outright insult to every person who has been harmed by his ruthless and uncaring corporatist practices. Now I am more determined than ever to hand his ass to him next November 6!

  5. The goose-steppers are ramping up their hate campaigns for the South.

  6. I hope everyone who speaks their opinion also votes– talk is easy– but what counts in the end is the vote– I do not want to hear bitching from anyone who does not go to that voting booth and cast their ballet– IMO– failure to do that loses any right to complain— Never say to me–  — ”  they are all crooks, so I will stay home and complain’ –Unless you want to really hear me—Every vote does count—-!!  Haven’t we all learned that by now ?

    • Phyllis you are so right!  If enough people do not vote or throw away their votes they may saddle us all wuth the Republican tyranny they deserve.

  7. Romney was Mass gov  and that means lots of recognition in NH – what disturbs me is that Paul did so well, and Huntsman should have! I doubt that Romney will do well in either SC or Fla – we’ll see!
