Yesterday drained me pretty well. I had to run errands and, in the process, walk about a mile and a half. My COPD, already exacerbated from an upper respiratory infection, flared up severely. Other than this Open Thread, I have only one article, but it’s a biggie. I’m current, albeit brief, with replies. Today I will be recovering from yesterday.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Yesterday it took me 5:12 (average 6:06). To do it, click here. How did you do?

The second highest production has earned me fifth place. ARGH! 🙁
Short Takes:
From CBS: President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Monday that the United States will now use foreign aid as a tool to improve Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rights abroad.
I applaud this move. Hopefully it will do some good, including defusing C-Street Republican support for Uganda’s bill to execute gays.
From ABC: Senate Republicans rejected a new, tweaked Senate Democratic payroll tax cut extension proposal because they say it is not, as billed by Democrats, a compromise bill.
This is exactly as I called it yesterday. It didn’t require rocket science.
From Democratic Party of Oregon: Rob Cornilles – Anti-Choice Republican
In OR-1 support Suzanne Bonamici!

Fantasy Football — I don’t understand it at all! But at least you’re still ahead of ‘Texas will rise again’ who must have Rick Perry on their team. The only way they will rise again is if they kick his heiny to kingdom come!
I heard about Clinton’s push to use all diplomatic means available to push for LGBT rights overseas on the radio. These are basic human rights that are being abused. One more reason that the Republican/Teabaggers should not be elected — they’d probably make things much worse, based on their rhetoric at home.
The Republican/Teabaggers wouldn’t know a compromise if it bit them on the ass! For any Republican/Teabagger, the definition of a compromise is “my way” or they will do the highway.
Rob Cornilles — just another goose stepping toady! Too bad that men can’t get pregnant! If they could, the Republican/Teabaggers would be singing a different tune!
Cartoon — I just about lost my cookies on this one! The sight of Trump makes me want to hurl! With that smile, he almost looks like Stan Laurel, but Stan was much better looking and funny too! Trump’s nothing more that a bombastic 1% with really, really bad hair and a worse attitude. Maybe we should put he and Newt in the same birdcage and never let them out! I think feathers would eventually fly!
Next year, join the league. 😀
Their all or nothing approach makes negotiation impossible.
LMAO!
I’d mix the feathers with tar.
So sorry about the COPD problems you’re having – I’m an advocate of the paleo diet, I don’t know if it would help COPD, but for my rheumatoid arthritis – I no longer suffer the symptoms that I did, I’m no longer on meds for it (they scared the crap out of me!) I have osteo arthritis, that kicks in, not nearly as painful, but still debilitating at times – my strength is building up – I may very well regret that I didn’t know about this form of rehabilitation a decade ago when I was forced into disability and retirement – it has helped me in every area of my health, I will never return to my vegetarianism – I put it out there for any and all who suffer debilitating health issues – it seems extreme, but it worked extraordinary wonders for me!
Hillary’s historic speech in Geneva was amazing! No country has spoken out about the rights of LGBT individuals, nor expressed the human rights issues so clearly – it must have made people within WI – “Walker Regime” cringe that their gov’t. internationalized the “faith” issue so blatantly – (one of the reasons I’m so opposed to organized religion) – it spits in the face of the Vatican, of evangelista America, and all the Muslim backward countries, calling them out to be the bigoted, racist, backward areas of the world they are. It’s about Time!!!!!!
Which is the cartoon up above? The Cornilles video ad, or the Birds of a feather? Both are as offensively worthy of a chuckle – too bad they’re both in a reality show!
Lee, I like the concept, but it seems the cost would be prohibitive.
I agree!
LOL!
7:01 I stink today!
I agree that the Cornilles pol ad should have been the cartoon of the day.
The lizard and the snake together at last!
Big window for you tomorrow.
He actually pretends to be progressive,
LOL!
It’s getting to be that time of year when Lists start popping up. Buzzfeed has put together “The 45 Most Powerful Images of 2011” – and it’s a great summary of major events of the year.
They range from the haunting … … to the harrowing … … and everything in between.
Stunning photos, Nameless! Thanks!
5:08 This was a tough one.
But you still came out on top, and should have no trouble beating me tomorrow.
