Republicans have a political problem that won’t go away. Since Democrats have adopted the strategy of giving them everything they ask for, if only they will agree to small tax increases on millionaires and billionaires or close loopholes that benefit giant criminal corporations. Democrats could safely make such offers, because they knew Republicans would refuse. At the same time, this has put Republicans on Front Street, because their pandering to the super-rich has been so extreme. As they are confronted for this stance, their lies become more and more absurd. Consider John Boehner, aka Agent Orange.
House Speaker John Boehner was asked this morning about the perception that Republicans are “servants of the rich.” Not surprisingly, he disagrees.
“That’s very unfair,” Boehner said in an interview aired Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “Listen, I come from a family of 12. My dad owned a bar. I’ve got brothers and sisters on every rung of the economic ladder.”
I’m tempted to respond that this argument is foolish, but in reality, it’s not even an argument. The charge, backed by years of unyielding evidence, is that he and his caucus fight for policies that almost exclusively benefit the wealthy. The Speaker’s response is, well, that he has an economically diverse immediate family. That’s about as compelling as a bigot who says some of his best friends are members of minority group.
“What our job here in Congress is to do — and the reason I came here 21 years ago — was to make sure that the American dream that was available to us is available for our kids and our grandkids. That — most people don’t believe that’s the case today. And, frankly, I’ve got concerns that it may not be the case,” the Ohio Republican went on. “We can’t have government debt that’s snuffing out the future for our kids and grandkids….”
Oh good, Boehner’s imitating a deficit hawk again.
Look, it’s a simple matter of credibility. Boehner voted for the Bush tax cuts, and added the costs to the national debt. Boehner then voted to finance the war in Afghanistan by adding the costs to the national debt. He then voted to put the costs of the war in Iraq onto the national debt. Boehner supported a massive expansion of the government’s role in health care, Medicare Part D, and voted to pile all of its costs right onto the national debt. He then backed the financial industry bailout, and added the bill to the national debt… [emphasis added]

For deficit hawks, Boehner and his chorus of liars certainly have loved growing the national debt! He shows his true colors more when he defends the 1%.
Boehner loves to accuse us of class warfare, and to be sure, class warfare does exist, but Boehner won’t admit that he is a General for the aggressor in that war. Whenever these Republicans claim to be deficit hawks, let’s not forget where the debt originated.

Boner , is , what Reagan was—- from a working class background- who made it big , now has the attitude– “I got mine– I am gonna keep it ! And to hell with everybody else – I am not going to be poor again”— The family ? Poor relations who aren’t as smart as he is—
I wouldn’t be surprised if that were his exact thinking.
It’s been so obvious that Obama has been conducting class warfare – which class is he representing? Boehner is bait for the Wall St occupiers – yum, yum yum!! I just don’t trust the people of this country – or at least the ‘voters” – short memories run rampant, not to mention the suppressed votes of those with memory recall! What a mess!

Boehner is such a knob! In the video, in which he is clearly on the defensive and trying to sidestep the questions, he says the 1% are paying 38% of the taxes and then goes on to say that the total funds of the 1% wouldn’t even put a dent in the deficit, let alone the debt. I say ‘Liar, liar pants on fire!’ Others, such as Bernie Sanders and several economists have shown that by raising taxes on incomes over $1 million, the debt can be dealt with in a reasonable time frame. Let’s face it, the debt didn’t grow over night. And look who has contributed to the increases the most — Republicans! Further, by not having a war to fund, let alone two, spending would be substantially down.
Boehner says to the Washington Monthly “We can’t have government debt that’s snuffing out the future for our kids and grandkids….”. Well, if he truly believes this, why are the Republican/Teabaggers under his direction, throwing roadblocks in the way of progress? After 21 years, I think it is time for him to retire.

Well said, Lynn.While the 1% pay around 38% of federal income taxes, they pay a far smaller proportion of state income taxes, social security, and sales taxes, where applicable. And they have over 40% of the wealth.
WTF ??? The 1% pays 38% dam liar the 1% pays less than 14.8% then the refunds they get are 150% to 200% over what they opaid . Boner is a liar , period paragraph ending someone needs to drag his ass out of congress and tar feather and run him out of town on a rail . he looks so self convincig with his look this is that isn’t he and his cronies are the ones conducting a corporate take over of our country . why in hell do we keep putting the wealthy and the obscenely rich into government offices where they can and will screw us sideways and any other way they can . scuse me but what about the $3.8 trillion dollars that was mentioned last year?? that $3.8 trillion was “Borrowed” by the Bush cheney crime syndicate from every social service this country has to fund Homeland security and the unlawfull war in iraq that ceheny declared on a white paper he authored and every word was a lie a pure work of fiction . demand these republican terrorist fascists repay the money they borrowed and was NEVER included as part of the bush cheney deficit or national debt .
