Yesterday I did housework and worked with my computer supplier to design a new custom built system.  My old notebook is running hot and has been used so much that many of the letters have worn off the keyboard.  Replacing it now will extend its life for use outside my home.  Fortunately, I planned for this long ago and have put a few dollars away for it every month since the day I bought the old system.  After I post articles in the wee hours of the morning next Monday, there will be no new articles, replies, or moderation until the new system is fully up and running.  I’ll take the notebook in Monday morning.  They will copy data files from the notebook to the new system and deliver it and the notebook next Tuesday.  Then I have to reinstall all the software programs and should finish sometime Wednesday.  Barring unforeseen difficulties, I should be posting again in the wee hours of next Thursday morning, so the whole process will probably cause a two day interruption.  I’m current on replies.  Today I will be making a list of software to replace. and downloading the install programs to a CD.

Short Takes:

From AP/Google: A coalition of more than 150 Texas school districts said Tuesday it has filed a lawsuit against the state over a school funding system it says is unfair, inefficient and unconstitutional.

The coalition represents more than one in 10 Texas districts. It accuses lawmakers of turning a blind eye to the state’s troubled school financing system for years and exacerbating the flaws this summer when they slashed public school spending by more than $4 billion to close a massive budget gap.

As President, Perry would undoubtedly help education in the US the way he has in Texas.

From AP/Google: The Republican speaker of the Wisconsin otstate Assembly, one of the key backers of Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal curbing bargaining rights for public unions, announced Tuesday that he is running for the U.S. Senate.

Jeff Fitzgerald said in an interview with The Associated Press that he believes his role in passing that law is his largest asset heading into the race. The proposal drew protests as large as 100,000 people and made Wisconsin the center of a national fight over union rights.

This is the Fitz in Fitzwalkerstan.  Defeating this Koch sucker is imperative.

From Washington Post: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie endorsed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney in New Hampshire today, providing the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination with a boost on the verge of tonight’s New Hampshire debate.

Since they are both Corporocons and Plutocons, I’m not surprised.

  1. 3:35 I can’t believe I beat your time. It’s been ages since that happened.

It’s funny that Christie endorsed Romney. SNL predicted it in one of their skits right down to how they stood next to each other.

  2. “All in the Family”

Taking a stroll down Memory Lane, you may remember that Jeff Fitzgerald, who is the Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly, has an older brother – Scott Fitzgerald – who conveniently happens to be the Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader.  And the Fitzgerald brothers just happened to convince Gov. Walker that after their Papa, Stephen, lost an election for Sheriff, that Walker should appoint him as Superintendent of the Wisconsin State Patrol – even though Papa has never served in the State Patrol.

To add even more spice to this nepotism stew, remember during last winter’s budget bill battle involving the “Wisconsin 14” – the entire Democratic Senate contingent left the state to block Walker’s shenanigans – it was the Fitzgerald brothers who said the Wisconsin State Patrol could and should round up all the Democratic Senators and haul them back to Madison.

Of course that would have required them to call … well, none other than their Dad.

  3. 5:44  That cartoon looks like the men’s room at Love Field, last time I flew into downtown Dallas. 👿

  4. TomCat,
Good luck implementing your new system. I’ve had a little trouble accessing this site today. Each time I’ve gone to make a comment, it has kicked me out. I hope that will be cured soon!

  5. Yippeeee!  5.07!  That’s 2 days in a row.  Truly amazing, almost unbelieveable.

It’s a shame that the school districts have to spend money that should be in the schools to go after the Perry Posse who short sheeted the schools’ funding by $4 billion, but it is necessary.  The state budget should never be balanced on the backs of the children.  These are the next generation that will  need a good education to fix Perry’s legacy of problems.  May it be that they learn how not to govern.

Does Jeff Fitzgerald have to give up his seat in the State Assembly before he runs for the federal senate, or does he still have that as a fallback position if he loses his senate run?  Just curious.  I think he is demented if he thinks stripping public service workers of their bargaining rights is an asset.  Perhaps now that there is a recall of Scott Walker under way, Fitzgerald’s powerbase will start to wane too.  Isn’t there a well thought of, hard working young woman democrat representative that is going after a senate seat also? or do I have the wrong state?  How will she stack up against this Republican scum as far as kicking his butt?  It would be really nice, but doubtful, if the Koch brothers would stay out of things.  Love your history lesson about Wisconsin nepotism Nameless!

Mad dogs and Republicans!  I’ll take the mad dogs any day!

It is evident from the debates and the rhetoric that the republicans are in a pickle.  They have fallen from great heights landing on their heads.  The political process is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this bunch of Republican ner-do-wells.  Shove them all the way in, close the lid and set them adrift on the ocean with a sign – do not open until 25 December 2012!

    • Yay!!

      Amen!

It depends on the timing term wise.  Only if 2012 is an election year for his state office

      Mad dogs are less dangerous.

      LOL!.

The sponsor of the law that made it legal to carry a gun into bars in Tennessee [Rep. Curry Todd, a Collierville Republican] is facing charges of possession of a handgun while under the influence and drunken driving.

  7. 5:29  I had a lot of trouble with this one.  I am 91 out of 285 (319).
