Yesterday, I co-facilitated a therapy group for former prisoners.  It pleased me to see that they are using the tools they have learned to deal with their issues, stay out of trouble, and stay free.  The down side is that to do it, I miss my morning sleep, and coming home there is a steep three block hill between the therapist’s office and the bus.  It’s difficult for me to climb, sets off my COPD, and leaves me exhausted.  To make matters worse, I’m doing laundry, as I write.  Nekked TomCats are a no-no around here.  I’m current on replies.  Tomorrow I defrost the refrigerator, do my online grocery shopping, and try to rest.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:57 (average 5:00).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

To our Jewish friends:

L’Shanah Tovah Tikatevu!

Short Takes:

From ABC: A Massachusetts man was arrested today for allegedly masterminding a plot to hit the nation’s capital with explosive-laden remote-controlled airplanes followed by a ground assault, the Department of Justice said.

Rezwan Ferdaus, a 26-year-old U.S. citizen and Northeastern University graduate, was nabbed in an elaborate FBI sting after he told undercover officers exactly how he planned to arm "small drone airplanes" with explosives in order to hit the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol building before opening fire on the survivors, federal officials said in a statement.

I’m gratified that the Obama administration takes the threat more seriously and does a better job protecting the nation than the Bush Regime did.

From Raw Story: Two women who wanted to get married in a small town in a rural New York town are suing the town clerk who refused to sign their marriage certificate because she believes homosexuality is a sin.

The lawsuit will stand as a milestone test case in the wake of New York’s months-old legalization of same-sex marriage: whether government workers’ personal beliefs can trump the duties of their jobs.

Rose Marie Belforti, the elected town clerk for Ledyard, NY, refused last month to sign the marriage license for Deirdre DiBiaggio and Katie Carmichael, who are from Miami, according to the New York Times.

Since she refuses to do her job, Belforti should be fired immediately.

From Reason: Looking ahead to the 2012 presidential race, one might assume that Nader has little to be cheerful about.

Yet he says there is one candidate who sticks out—who even gives him hope: Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.

Ralph has been feeding at the Republican trough for so long now, that he is a mere shadow of his former self.  His endorsement of Ron Paul demonstrates that whatever credibility he might have once had is gone.

Maybe Belforti is taking her cues from our RepublicanT “do-nothing” Congress. They get paid for not doing their jobs.

  2. 4:40  I hate to see old folks get forgetful and lose sight of what they once were.  The kinds of people Ralph Nader admires now, would not have supported him when he was one of the best consumer advocates that ever was.  That’s sad.Sad

  3. 3:58  Missed you by one second!  I am 86 out of 272 (316).

  4. Rezwan Ferdaus — Born in the US?  None the less, a citizen and he decides that jihad is the way to go.  Well he is going — straight to a long prison term.  As a US citizen, would this be classified as treason or would it be conspiracy to commit murder?  Religious extremism of any kind makes the world such a dark place to live.

Rose Marie Belforti — I agree with you TC, she should be fired for failure to carry out her lawful duties.  She is hired to serve the people and as long as she is not being asked to do anything illegal, she must do it if it is part of her job.  Government workers’ personal beliefs can not trump the duties of their jobs.  It will interesting to see if the law suit bears this out.

Ralph Nader — The man must have dementia!  The darling of the consumer is now a bought and paid for Republican bowing down to Ron Paul!?!  You won’t find Elizabeth Warren being a turncoat!

Cartoon — Good one!  If Michele Bachman is sane, then God help us all because that means we’re all insane!

    • Lynn, I think there are special crimes for terrorism.  It could not be treason, because for treason to be charged, there mist be a declared war per the constitution.

      It had better!

      Amen!

      LOL!
