I think I have enough energy to write today’s articles.  I’ve been in prison working to help prisoners to learn to address the issues that led to their crimes and to become proficient in the tools they will use to fulfill their needs pro-socially upon release.  Their diligence and dedication is inspirational.  I can never discuss the details, as we have promised them confidentiality, but I usually find that I have received as much as or more than I have given.  The down side is that I’m posting without the benefit of sleep.  I’m current with replies, though I was briefer than usual.  Today I recover.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:13 (average 4:17).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: The House of Representatives voted on Thursday to approve a G.O.P.-backed bill that would prohibit the National Labor Relations Board from continuing to pursue its effort to block Boeing from operating a new $750 million aircraft assembly line in South Carolina. The largely party-line vote was 238 to 186.

This is union busting, pure and simple.

From Washington Post: House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) rejected Thursday any increase in tax revenue and instead said that a special committee seeking long-term debt reduction should find $1.5 trillion in savings entirely from cutting federal agency spending and slashing popular entitlement programs.

It’s not as though we expected anything else from Agent Orange.

From Raw Story: A primary battle between two well-known Democratic incumbents is brewing in Ohio, thanks to a Republican-led redistricting. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) announced Wednesday that he would compete with Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) in the primary for the newly redrawn House district that combines both their former constituencies.

The new district stretches across northern Ohio, from Toledo (Kaptur’s former district) to Cleveland (Kucinich’s domain).

Thanks to Republican gerrymandering, no matter who wins, we lose because we need both.

Agent Orange has no mind of his own. He is merely following his master’s orders. Nothing will ever get done constructively until he and his ilk are voted out of office. Sadly we have a long wait.

  2. The Obama White House is running a Still!

It’s true – the beer that Pres. Obama enjoyed the other day with Medal of Honor winner, Sgt. Dakota Meyer, is home brewed!  The Obamas bought the equipment for brewing their own beer with their own money.  They brewed about 100 bottles for the last Superbowl party – yep, they were all consumed.  And they brewed some more for St. Patrick’s Day.

And for the record – it’s legal in D.C.

  3. If Michele is out on the patio put’n sugar in the tea, why is her camper rock’n?  That RV looks like it has mighty BIG closets! Twisted

  4. 4:20  Being tired did not slow you down.  I am #3 today, just barely beat the average, and 81 out of 259 (313).

  5. Boeing — If the NLRB is like our LRB, then they are meant to be an independent arbitrator, ruling for labour or for corporations based on statute law applicable to the case at hand. So why is the House [sic Republicans) interfering in a legal decision? Must only be union busting disguised badly as cronyism. No conflict of interest there with Boeing being a generous Republican contributor. And while I haven’t read the bill and I’m not an expert, sounds like the Republicans are opening up the field to put more people on the unemployment line as jobs are transfered overseas. God bless America because with the Republicans around, you’re going to need all the help you can get.

Agent Orange — “. . . should find $1.5 trillion in savings entirely from cutting federal agency spending and slashing popular entitlement programs.” in otherwords, screw the poor and middle classes. Take from the elderly, the poor, the middle class, the . . . and give to the rich so that they can continue in their arrogance. No wonder that Boehner’s nickname is Agent Orange — he, and his Republican thugs, are stripping the country bare of any trace of a civil society. I did hear that he and all the Republican politicians are forgoing their salaries to help trim the deficit.

Redistricting — ok, the 2010 census said the population had shifted. How many Republican districts found themselves in the same situation? Are there any cases of more districts being created anywhere? That would be interesting to know. It is unfortunate that it involves 2 long term Democrat representatives.

Cartoon — You are showing them as sheeple, and I was thinking that they look bored out of their gourds.

Puzzle — if i can keep my livestock away from the computer, I manage a little better. I was 45 seconds over average which is the best yet. My grandfather would probably wonder at me since we did so may puzzles together after church.

    • Lynn, Boeing wants move where they are making a plane from a union shop to a non-union right to work state.  A company with a union contract can’t do that without renegotiating the contract.

I have not heard that, but all are millionaires and make far more in bribes.

In states were Democrats had control, redistricting was done fairly.  Here in Oregon the redistricting for state office had a plan submitted by each party.  The Dem plan had two districts with two dems and two with two Reps.  The Rep plan had five with two Dems.

That was a vacant stare. 😉

      Hang in!

      • I did hear that he and all the Republican politicians are forgoing their salaries to help trim the deficit. — I was being facetious, or a smart ass if you like that term better.  Anything to give hope to the masses and make some laugh!  I don’t even think the Republicans are capable of giving a dog a bone!
