Yesterday I slept for 14 hours, leaving me in a groggy state.  My little AC can’t beat the heat, but it can hold it off a bit.  Even though the temperature in the breezeway outside my windows reached 130°, it only reached 85° at my desk.  I am current with replies.  Tomorrow I have chores and errands.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:12 (average 4:17).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Stay safe, please.

Lefty Blog Friends Update:

In our fantasy football league, I have reduced the size to eight players, and we now have five.  Tomorrow, I’ll be opening up the league to the general public, so if you want to play, this is your last chance.  Go to nfl.com and sign up for an ID, if you don’t already have one.  Then go to fantasy football.  Our league ID is 324380, and the password is endthegop.

Short Takes:

From Countdown: Keith interviews Bernie Sanders.

As I have said for years, this is the plan that makes sense.

From Daily Kos: Since the beginning of July, the extremely grassroots campaign to recall Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, FireRickSnyder.org, has gathered more than half of the 806,522 signatures required to trigger a recall election in February 2012.

Every single signature has been gathered by a volunteer. All 83 county captains are volunteers. Their website is built and maintained by volunteers. The founders of the organization, who are also volunteers, have no political experience and simply met each other online in March. Almost all of them have jobs and are doing this in their spare time.

But they are pushing through anyway, and the recall election might actually happen.

I fully support these courageous Michiganders.  Obama, watch and learn!

From Common Dreams: Arizona is suing the U.S. government, questioning the constitutionality of a portion of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

In Arizona, Republicans want to make voting while Latino a crime.

From Huffington Post: Christine O’Donnell Book Signing Draws Just Five People.

I suppose five was all she could …umm… conjure up. 🙄

  1. 3:28 not too bad.

    Gotta love Bernie!

    Good pun about O’Donnell!

  2. 3:24 Yes, I had my work cut out for me, and I did not work quite hard enough. I am 73 out of 239 (305).

  3. Google has an ongoing, updated tracking App to follow Hurricane Irene’s projected path:

  4. WOW!!! Rick Snyder is really stepping in it! He makes BC’s Gordon Campbell look like a pussy cat when he forced the Harmonised Sales Tax. The uproar was so bad that Campbell stepped down. There was a referendum on Keep the HST or return to the old system of GST and PST. The latter received 54.7% of the vote so in 18 months, the HST will be gone. The people have spoken. In Snyder’s case, he is taking the state back into the middle ages. He seems to see himself as king or absolute ruler. For the sake of good government (this is clearly government run amook and morally corrupt) and government by the people and for the people, Rick Snyder has to go.

The Republicans in office seem to be like a cancer, and with each new Republican elected the cancer grows. All Americans must stand by the Democrats. They must let their voices be heard. Even if you’re not that enthralled with Obama, still support him. Right now the Republicans hold sway in the Congress but if more Democrats are elected, the Republican hold can be broken. Right now it seems that the republicans are holding the country hostage.

I like Bernie Sanders. What a passionate fellow who is looking after the people. You know, I thought about him as President, but he is better where he is. I think he would be tied down by too many Presidential duties not allowing him to deal as freely for the people.

And Arizona suing the US government? Give me a break. Why don’t they concentrate on things that really matter! With the cuffuffle this year about illegal immigrants and the right to question people’s status without cause (seems to be racial profiling), they have shown this is necessary. When they learn to play in the sand box properly, perhaps the DOJ measures will not be necessary.

    • Yes. It;s hard to tell the difference between Snyder and Walker from WI.

      I fully agree.

I would lobe to see him challenge Obama in the primary, but he lacks the machine and the money. I think his choice to support Obama is a good one for him.

      Never. They are racists.
