Yesterday I ran errands, now that I have my debit card back.  I’m current on replies, and tomorrow will be a busy day, as I will be co-facilitating a therapy group for former prisoners.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:52 (average 4:45).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The Portlander: David Wu, the embattled Democrat US Representative from Oregon’s 1st Congressional District, announced his resignation on Tuesday, July 26th.

There will be a special runoff election for Wu’s seat, so you know that Koch suckers will pouring into my neighborhood.  I’m looking into which Democrat to support.

From AP/Google: Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann says she opposes GOP House Speaker John Boehner’s plan to increase the federal borrowing authority.

Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman, is telling Iowans that she will vote against any measure in Congress to raise the debt ceiling.

What about the Constitution?

From Think Progress: In an interview with the Advocate, GOProud President Chris Barron defended the group’s support for Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, despite her long anti-gay record and association with ex-gay therapy.

A gay person supporting Bachmann is like a black person supporting the KKK.

  1. I keep getting this funny idea that there are no longer two parties but rather just one big Insane Clown Posse making bad rap music to amuse themselves with while they jack off all over the nation.

  2. It must be the “trickle -down”. 👿

  4. 4:03 I’m 68 out of 208 (327).

  5. I’m glad he resigned – we don’t need any more scandals on our side and it shows, once again, that the Dems do the honorable thing when something bad happens unlike the Repubs who wait until they are indicted and then still stay in office.

Bachmann is so kooky she’ll always do the wrong thing – that’s why she won’t be president. And she doesn’t know jack shit about the constitution.

    I agree.

That pic scared the shit out of me – Repubs helping – I don’t THINK so! 😯

  6. Really enjoy your Open Threads, easy way to keep up on Tom’s world. Glad things are getting back to normal, I can imagine your panic in realizing your wallet was missing and excellent points on the hassles involved in getting replacement i.d. — that’s of course exactly what the Republicans are engineering.

Sorry to hear about Rep. Wu. Comments from current and former staffers hint at some emotional difficulties — at the very least he seems to have a medical excuse.

Is anyone else getting worn down & out by the debt ceiling crisis engineered by the Rep’s? I’m personally backing Mitch McConnell’s Plan B, as it does the least harm. Can’t believe Pres. O and Dem’s are cratering on revenue increases — all spending cuts for you and me. Kill me now.

    • Thanks Ann. I’m sure your imagination is quite accurate.

I hope he gets the help he needs to become viable again.

Sometimes an ache in the back of my head. Sometimes further down.

Rushbo Limbaugh Says People Believe in Global Warming Because AIR CONDITIONERS Make Their Homes Cool
(If it weren’t for the fact the Boehner actually checks in with Rushbo to get his OK about his bill BEFORE he even talks to his own caucus, it might be funny. Pretty clear that Rushbo his running the Reich-Wing Repubican Party)

  8. Now if I can only get the visual image of comments 1 & 2 out of my mind. Although I concur, I just don’t need to actually see it over and over! Thanks TWM, JERRY &M.J!. And as always, thanks tomcat.
