Pastor Rick Perry (R-TX) claims that he is called by God to minister the Gospel through holding political office. He does not seem to care that the establishment clause isn’t too accepting of evangelization through government. Aside from all his insistence on faith and patriotism, except when he talks about seceding, his views are both anti-American and anti-Christian.
It’s important that Democrats inform themselves all about the dangerous religious extremists with whom Texas Gov. Rick Perry is aligning himself:

The Christian Taliban–make no mistake these people are very serious in their drive to establish a Theocracy in this country ; Altho is is very easy to laugh at them , I do not , The very principles of this country ; separation of Church and State mean nothing to them–The very fact that Perry is considered a serious candidate should , in itself , be a warning , not a reason for laughing-
All of this being “called by God” to run for office is just self serving, superstitious, mumbo jumbo bullshit. The biggest entertainment value comes from watching them try to explain why they didn’t win, after they got “the call”. And these are the same toads who are so quick to condemn the Dalai Lama who just happens to be one of the greatest spiritual leaders in the world today.

The third commandment says we are not allowed to make improper use of God’s name (or, as the KJV has it, take the Lord’s name in vain). Sounds as though Perry, like so many other right-wing politicians, is using God’s name to market himself for high office. If that’s not improper use, I don’t know what is.
If he and others like him weren’t so scary they would be laughable. They will always have shoeple to follow them though.
Oudiva, I suppose that’s the crux of it; thinking people (we liberals) realize the guy is either mad as a hatter and/or actually believes gawd has called him to take office to spread “the word,” or is up to no good, so he is either a kook, a schemer, or, a kook and a schemer. None are good, and “we” realize this. Why “they” can’t realize this is puzzling, so I can only conclude they are kooks and/or schemers as well. 😛
This guy is even crazier than Bachmann and I didn’t think that was even possible. And, people listen and believe the crap that’s coming out of this asshole’s mouth. I thank God everyday that I don’t live in Texas and if Governor Good Hair thinks he can win the Repub nom with this kind of crazy assed shit hanging over his head, he’s nuts.
