Many of us are looking forward to the return of Keith Olbermann on Monday. I’m sorry to report that there will be no embedded Countdown videos for a while. Current TV videos auto-start, and having videos start every time the main page here loads is unacceptable. There is a link in the player to turn off the auto-start feature, but it doesn’t work. I’m in contact with Current TV, and they have not found a fix for it, yet. I am current on replies.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 3:30 (average 4:33). To do it, click here.
Short Takes:
From MSNBC: Cenk Uygur says “No more excuses” to Democrats.
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
If Blumenauer were still my Congressman, I’d be tearing him a new asshole for being so damn evasive.
From Boston Globe: The United Nations endorsed the rights of gay, lesbian, and transgender people for the first time yesterday, passing a resolution hailed as historic by the United States and other backers and decried by African and Muslim countries.
The declaration was cautiously worded, expressing “grave concern’’ about abuses because of sexual orientation and commissioning a global report on discrimination against gays.
But activists called it an important shift on an issue that has divided the global body for decades, and they credited the Obama administration’s push for gay rights at home and abroad.
Excellent. This would not have happened if a Republican were President.
From San Francisco Chronicle: The bad economic news buffering the U.S. is being welcomed in at least one quarter: among the Republican Party officials and activists gathered in New Orleans to gear up for next year’s elections.
Reflecting a renewed sense of hopefulness heading into the 2012 campaign, those attending the Republican Leadership Conference were optimistic that the recent wave of data showing a slowing recovery from the worst recession since the 1930s could add up to a victory for their party against President Barack Obama.
They caused it, and they have spared no effort to make it worse, screwing America for political gain.

That cartoon scared me! It was that elephant thing lurking in the shadows. Liked the mace, though! 😈
Safety note: Do not stand under the elephants tail. 😉
3:01 Whoo Hooo! 😀 New record for me. I’m 54 out of 169 (320).
Outstanding. I’ve never broken 3:00 that I remember. Today’s puzzle is harder.
Thank you for not putting in the auto start vids – they are super annoying. AOL does that all the time on Huff Po now and I won’t even read the article if it has an auto start vid. Then I have to go through all my tabs that are open and figure out where the auto start vid it. It’s a pain in the ass!
I would have ripped that Congress critter a new asshole as well. He has no business being in the progressive caucus with that kind of attitude. What a total asshole. Lift the cap on SS and increase the benefits and lower the age back to 65 – how hard is that to do? Jeebus on a pogo stick – if these are our “progressive” members, I’d hate to see our non “progressive” members, much less the DINOs. 🙄 😡
Good for the UN – this should have come 10 years ago but then Bush wouldn’t have allowed it. 😉
They not only caused it but they campaigned on making it better when all they’ve done is fuck around with other stupid bullshit that’s not important. Give me one example of a jobs bill that they’ve put up since they got the majority back in Congress since 2010? Can’t name one? Neither can I. If this recession gets worse, it’s on their heads because they’ve done NOTHING, nada, to fix it and in fact, have probably made it worse. Stupid assholes. 😡 😡 😡
That cartoon is just about right – all they’ve done with all these Repub governors is disenfranchised more voters making it harder for people to vote. That hurts both parties but the Dems the most. They know that the fewer people that can vote are the ones that vote Dem – poor people. 😡
YW, Lisa. They are unacceptable..
Blumenauer is normally very good. My guess id that he is being evasive over debt ceiling fears.
Obama helped push it through.
I can’t.
Thanks. Sad, huh?
