Yesterday too little sleep caught up with me and I had a lazy day, but I am current on replies.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 3:37 (average 4:34). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Reuters: Three years after what the Pentagon called the most significant breach of U.S. military networks ever, new versions of the malware blamed for the attack are still roiling U.S. networks, Reuters has learned.
The malware at issue, known as "agent.btz," in 2008 infiltrated the computer systems of U.S. Central Command, which was running the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The article is an interesting read. This represents a greater threat to the US than anything going on in Afghanistan.
From Seattle Times: Over howls from hecklers and cheers from die-hard fans, Rep. Anthony Weiner resigned from Congress on Thursday in a raucous news conference that raised more questions than it answered.
I hope that now, David Vitter will be unable to speak anywhere, ever again, without comparable heckling.
From NY Times: In a potential blow to the future of the biotech industry, a handful of House lawmakers voted last night to bar the Food and Drug Administration from approving any bioengineered salmon for mass consumption.
A terse amendment (pdf) offered by Reps. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.) and Don Young (R-Alaska) would ban FDA from spending any funds on genetically engineered salmon approvals beginning in the next financial year. Less than a dozen lawmakers voted by voice to attach the amendment to an agriculture spending bill expected to pass the House this week.
I have read enough on the subject of GMOs, that I believe enough doubts exist that they should be banned, pending sufficient independent investigation to assure their safety both to consumers ans to the environment.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I do believe that Howard Stern (it was his guy he admitted causing the disturbance at the Wiener resignation speech. he is a Republican i that he has even more wealth to protect than Mush Limburger or Glen Block(head) combined.
Really Mark? Considering Stern’s track record, that surprises me.
Good cartoon! Is that Ms Bachmann doing the stirring? 😈
I’m not sure. Maybe it’s Blood-libel Barbie.
4:33 a tad better than average.
I like the cartoon.
Good job Patty
Thanks.
I think you can definitely put your search for an alternate website to supply Op-Ed cartoons on a major hiatus – you’re doing great on your own!
I know you’re not a fan of Rahm Emanuel, but having lived in Chi-town for over four years I thought he had the cojones to do a decent job – and it appears that’s the case. Local PBS show, “Chicago Tonight” highlighted some of his major accomplishments in his first 30 days:

Thanks Nameless. The problem is queezing in the time to make one every day. This one took over a half hour.
He sounds much better locally than he was nationally. What did he have to give up to bring those companies in?
3:15 😀 Reminds me, I am having wild salmon for dinner tonight. I’m 53 out of 168 (315).
Great one, Jerry. Doing that well will get you another win today.
This is from Lisa, and she asked me to move it.

Everyone needs a lazy day now and then – it’s good for you.
Great now we have malware in our war software. Who would hack us? I can think of 30 countries right off the top of my head; can’t really say I’m shocked.
Oh me too. And let’s hope the people of LA get some clues before the re-elect a guy that was caught with prostitutes while wearing diapers, but I don’t hold up hopes up. Most had not even heard of the scandal – where do they live? In a refrigerator undergound?
Thanks Lisa.
Buzz is that Russia did it. Can’t confirm.
I know Faux Noise ducked covering it. That means millions of sheeple never knew.
