Yesterday I did some work around the apartment.  Aster I went to sleep, my denturist’s secretary woke me up to tell me that I need to go back next week for the denturist to redo the lower impression.  I could not get back to sleep, so I’m running on bleary.  I an current with replies.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:05 (average 4:23).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From LA Times: More than five months after she was shot in the head while greeting constituents, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was released Wednesday from the Houston hospital where she had been undergoing physical therapy.

Good news, for a change.

From Right Wing Watch: Rabid anti-choice activist Clenard Childress, who believes that gay rights are a sign of the End Times, is now comparing advocates of LGBT equality to the people in the Bible that called for Jesus’ death.

That’s a lie.  The people who called for Jesus’ death were the ultra-conservative religious leaders, who remain with us as Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians.

From Washington Post: The Obama administration argued Wednesday that its nearly three-month-old military involvement in Libya does not require congressional approval because of the supporting role most U.S. forces are playing there, a position that puts it at odds with some Republican leaders and the antiwar wing of its own party.

Obama is dead wrong about this.  Regardless of one’s stance about Libya, US forces are conducting military action and are in harm’s way.  The War Powers Act makes no exception for participation in a supportive role.

  1. I will state it again…bring them all home from everywhere and use our military to secure our borders and et nothing in that does not have an eyes on or hands on inspection and that includes people. Let the Chinese who now has the worlds second largest economt become the cow with the teats the rest of the world feeds off of. Bring our children home, even them they have buried in that fucking desert and let them eat their god damn oil. We can sustain ourselves.

  2. 5:13 I suck at this!

This just in: Anthony Weiner is resigning.

  3. 7:00 flat
Good cartoon! Makes it easy to identify morons, now! Thanks! 😈

  4. I’m not of the mind that the U.S. ought to be conducting bombing campaigns in Libya (or anywhere else) without a declaration of war from Congress.
BUT on the other hand, it’s pretty clear that Repubicans are scared $hitle$$ that Obama will enjoy some major political success by putting another notch in his belt by getting Qadafi gone – and they desperately do NOT want that. So if that means pretending to actually have principles that they haven’t honored for decades … well, heaven knows Repubicans are MORE than willing do that. I would consider supporting their point of view on challenging Obama if I honestly thought it would transform Repubican principles.
    It won’t, so I don’t.

    • Nameless, the way I see it, that Republicans ignore the law is no justification for Democrats to so so. Because we are more ethical, we must act that way.

  5. 4:22 At least I beat the average…barely! Your 3:05 is fantastic. I am 52 out of 167 (311).

  6. Filed under “Giving-Credit-Where-Credit-Is-Due” & also “Good News”:
Sen. Max “Blue Dog” Baucus (D-MT) is demanding that McKinsey & Co., who released a “made-to-order” survey mendaciously claiming that 30% of employers will now drop healthcare insurance for their employees, reveal their methodology: “The American Association for Public Opinion Research Disclosure Standards make clear that it is standard professional practice to release essential information on the methodology of publicly disclosed surveys,”
And ironically it turns out that McKinsey & Co., when they were doing honest survey work, found the opposite to be the case.
