WND Editor Displays GOP Hate

I suppose that the media of the extreme right make their living capitalizing on the hatred and bigotry of the Republican base.  Now Joseph Farah, editor of World Net Daily, has gone above and beyond the call of duty in his expression of hatred for gay people.

14farahJoseph Farah, the editor of WorldNetDaily, laments about the gains of the gay-rights movement. According to Farah [WND delinked], the Lawrence v. Texas decision which said that state anti-sodomy laws were unconstitutional was a tragedy for the country because it effectively stopped states from criminalizing sin. He claims that “from murder, to theft, to adultery, to child molestation,” people have “the right and the duty” to make laws banning “sinful behavior,” including sodomy. He insists that gay people and their allies are simply inventing new rights and that the LGBT community is only using the marriage debate “to demonstrate they are ‘oppressed’” because they have “no real interest in marriage”:

Take a 5,000-year-old institution ordained by God that has worked all over the world and trash it because some a group of sinful, prideful people with no real interest in marriage wants to use it to demonstrate they are "oppressed."

Keep in mind, it was the federal government that made all this inevitable with the Supreme Court case Lawrence v. Texas, in which it presumed to tell the people of that great republic they had no business enforcing laws against sodomy. Justice Antonin Scalia predicted in short order the ruling would open the door to something unimaginable a decade ago – same-sex marriage. He was right.

I know people who have been living together monogamously for years in clearly committed relationships and want nothing more than to marry, but cannot.  I knew a lesbian couple.  When one was killed in an auto accident, her parents claimed the body and would not permit her partner to attend her funeral.  For Farah to say they have no real interest in marriage epitomizes Republican hate toward the LGBT community.

  1. I am, you are, we all are gay, and black, latino, white and hetero and each a part of the whole and most of all children of the divine being. Even them who in this mortal realm are blind to their own posturing for fame and name recognition at the expense of others.

What we are all not is Whitman or Crane or Mozart or Bach or even Paul McCartney.

What makes us is not who we are but rather what we are. That is where we will when it’s all over find out the truth of what we have become one to the other.

  2. I would really like to know what gives people the right to legislate morals.

  3. I have learned to look past the apparent issue to find what the identified terrible problem , or straw man , is hiding— Every time this issue of Gay “rights” is is the forefront ,a much bigger issue is hiding in back– Every time—-I note the defensiveness of responses– I think a better , or maybe more effective response might involve challenge rather than defense– So what if a person is gay or lesbian , so what if 2 people marry and form a family ? So what ??? How does it harm ?
Hate often covers up fear–So what is the fear ?
I would ask now–what is the fuss covering up ?

    • The same thing it always covers up: Republicans govern exclusively for the benefit of millionaires, billionaires, and corporate criminals, NOT you. That is the why of the fear. Rhat is revealing is the depths to which they plunge to do it.

  4. You can’t make a law against something that you consider “sinful” – it just happens, that some people don’t see it as sinful and that is why there is separation between church and state in the Constitution. That also makes your law unconstitutional. The same should apply to abortion; just because you think it is “sinful” doesn’t mean that everyone else does. It’s established law in the country. Accept it. 🙄

  5. Joseph Farah looks a little too “happy” in that photo! Is that a $3 bill?

  6. Gay “rights” and Abortion are both issues of Church and State separation— matters of religion-; Straw targets ; Waste a lot of energy arguing while the country continues to be looted by Corporate criminals — and their Republican friends ,
