Never in my life have I seen so much hatred displayed for one man as Republicans have heaped on Barack Obama. I have no problem with people criticizing his policies. I do so myself regularly. I do have a problem with people who condemn him over lies about his religion or his nationality. Here, the Republican bigots in the Minnesota State Senate invited a gay-hating Bachmann buddy to give the opening prayer.
A minister offering the opening prayer at the Minnesota House on Friday appeared to question President Barack Obama’s belief in Jesus in remarks before lawmakers could begin debating a same sex marriage ban.
Bradlee Dean, an Annandale, Minnesota-based Christian minister, did not mention Obama by name but noted that the opening prayer is supposed to be non-denominational.
He closed the prayer by saying that it was not about any one denomination, "but rather the head of the denomination and His name is Jesus — as every president up until 2008 has acknowledged." Obama was elected in 2008… [emphasis added]

Now this is the same Bradlee Dean that runs the anti-gay so-called “ministry”, You Can Run But You Can’t Hide, and has called for executing gay people here in the US. Such is the love of Republican Supply-side Jesus, not the real Jesus.
If I could find out who this creep is with just a couple of mouse clicks, I can only surmise that the Republican leaders in Minnesota’s Senate knew exactly who he is, and would not have honored him with an invitation, unless they supported his heinous views.

Mark, I just tested the original link and it worked fine. I knew about the do-over, but it was only after Dems made a big stink. I doubt Republicans would have listen were their governor not a presidential candidate.
First, I hope he is one of the first to be Raptured. Obama is a Christain, as proof of his attendance in a black church for 21 years. Anyone not saying he is a Christain, is fooling him/herself.
I still don’t understand why there is a chaplain in and State or Federal legislature. This is a secular country for all means an purposes as directed by the first amendment of the Constitution. There should be no prayer in any state or Federal legislature as far as I’m concerned, since it violates the First Amendment. 🙄
I’m OK with Christian chaplains, provided that Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Shinto, Hindu, and Satanist chaplains get equal time.

Lisa, I would speculate that his faith is more authentic than that of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians.
For a Chaplain, of any worship tradition , to take a political position ,in a setting where he was supposed to simply ask God’s blessing on the work to be done-is really not only in poor judgment , but unethical –IHe needs to think of what sort of witness he is giving–
I have no problem with a Chaplain–BUT that person is there to meet the spiritual needs of his or her congregation–That person is not there to preach and/or convert to one brand of belief–but to acknowledge the common humanity and spiritual realities of our existence–whatever tradition we choose to express these beliefs and needs-
We do not have a State religion , and may God forbid we ever do.
