I’m up to date with comments, but this afternoon and tonight, I’ll be in Salem, visiting the prison to provide a CoDA group for prisoners there.  I won’t get hone until the time I normally wake up to start my research, so there may be no articles tomorrow, or they may be late and/or abbreviated.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:49 (average 5:15).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Crooks and Liars: Gov. Bobby Jindal would sign a bill requiring presidential candidates to provide a copy of their birth certificate to qualify for the Louisiana ballot if it reaches his desk, a spokesman said Monday.

This could get ugly.

From MSNBC: Kloppenburg demands a recount!

Hooray!  Expose Wanker and his minions.

From SPLC HatewatchFresh on the heels of burning the Koran after staging a “trial” of Islam, an act that led to deadly protests in Afghanistan, Florida pastor Terry Jones is planning a rally outside a mosque in Dearborn, Mich., this week, despite pleas from city officials to abandon his efforts.

Jones told the Detroit Free Press that he plans to visit the Islamic Center of America, the largest mosque in North America, to protest Shariah law and widespread jihad. Dearborn police and Wayne County prosecutors have filed a complaint that asks a judge to stop the event.

If I did not want a goof friend to stay out of jail, I would hope that this pseudo-Christian Republican hate monger runs into Mark.

  1. *shrug* My brother is an attorney in Dearborn.

  2. Can’t they just refuse to issue a permit to this bigoted idiot?

    • Well, probably not – First Amendment rights are pretty important to all of us. But they are going to try to “corral” him a bit:

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the threat of violence was too great to allow Terry Jones to hold the planned gathering on Friday near the Islamic Center of America — the largest U.S. mosque — in the heavily Muslim Detroit suburb of Dearborn.
      [snip]
Prosecutors argue that the planned gathering by Jones could incite a riot, citing hundreds of email death threats against the preacher. Officials have asked the court to order Jones to hold his gathering away from the mosque in one of the four “free speech zones” designated by the city of Dearborn for public demonstrations.

The hearing to block Jones from holding his rally at the mosque is scheduled for today.

    • Patty, I have to go with Nameless on this one, on the 1st Amendment issue, but I would support moving it to a less confrontational location.

  3. 4:39 You did well. I’m 40 out of 111 (360).
