Wisconsin is not the only front in the battle to stop Republicans from destroying unions. Michigan, Florida, Ohio, New Jersey, Indiana, Arizona and other states are suffering from Republican abuse of power. In Indiana, Democratic Representatives are in exile, and Gov. Daniels has been running radio adds. But the rat seems to have diddled a couple Kochs to get the money, because 97% of it is from out of state.
Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels’ political action committee has spent $87,042 during the past two weeks to air radio ads chastising House Democrats for boycotting House sessions and relocating to Urbana, Ill.
The ads call Democratic Leader Patrick Bauer, D-South Bend, “a bad, bad boy,” and tell all House Democrats, including 10 Northwest Indiana representatives, “You’re not paid to shirk, so get on back to work.”
But an analysis by The Times of recent donations to Daniels’ Aiming Higher PAC finds that out-of-state donors are paying to spread the message that House Democrats shouldn’t have left Indiana.
Fully 97 percent of the money donated this year to Aiming Higher has come from out-of-state donors.
Aiming Higher 2011 contribution records show the political fund has taken in $60,490. But $31,000 recorded as a donation from Perkins Nichols Media of Indianapolis was actually a refund for previously purchased radio ads, according to the media buying company.
That leaves a total of $29,490 in 2011 donations, of which $28,600 was given by out-of-state donors.
State Rep. Linda Lawson, D-Hammond, the deputy leader of House Democrats, said the out-of-state donations are an example of the “down-and-dirty politics” Daniels likes to play… [emphasis added]

You can be sure that all that money is not coming from working people. Republicans promised fiscal responsibility and jobs. They delivered tyranny. Voters, remember that Republicans govern exclusively for the benefit of the super-rich and criminal corporations. Unless that’s you, the only thing you can expect from Republicans is more lies.

These goddam sneaky and hypocritical Republicans! They love to talk “states rights” and decry the federal government’s so-called interference in local and state affairs. But when it comes to funds donated from big pharma, the oil companies, banks, and other institutions well outside of the state’s borders to influence local public opinion (or outright buy local politicians), that’s perfectly ok.
BULLSHIT!
Outside corporate money to create shadowy front groups for the purpose of swaying elections is an abuse of our electoral system and has no place at all in state or local politicsMoney is NOT free speech! Corporations are NOT people!
Good point, Jack. Hypocrisy on steroids!
Jack – excellent point. And the Dems were right to leave. 😡
That they were!
